Advantages: smells great, leaves hair straight, shiny and soft
Disadvantages: None for me
The latest product to make its way into my bathroom to be tested is the Herbal Essences Seductively Straight Silk N'Shine Shampoo. It's from the new range of Herbal Essences Shampoos which have been redesigned, rebranded and repackaged and I have to say I am very pleased with them so far.
The shampoo is designed for dry and damaged hair and contains silk and pear extracts designed to give you seductively straight hair.
The shampoo comes in a rather funky looking cerise pink plastic bottle with a bright green flip top cap. The bottle has a nice curvy shape and my bottle holds 400ml but you can get smaller 250ml bottles too. My bottle cost £3.26 from Tesco but it was on a buy one get one free offer and you could mix and match between conditioners and shampoos.
On the back of the bottle is some advice from the Herbal School of Seduction! Lesson 1 is that this shampoo with its silk and pear extracts will tame your hair into a sleek line of shine. Lesson 2 is that the captivating conditioner gets full marks for silk touch and gloss. I guess I am only going to learn lesson 1 as I haven't bought the conditioner!
The back of the bottle also has "Herbalhead games" which seems to be questions and answers which you need to have both the shampoo and conditioner to work it out. They really are pushing you to buy both products! The question on my bottle is "What is rated as the best unconscious way to attract the opposite sex?" To find the answer you need to buy the conditioner and then the answer for the conditioner question is "Over 300" so I wonder what that question is about!
Directions on the bottle are quite amusing, you are to work it into a lather saying "oooohh!" then rinse and repeat including the "ooooohh!". I missed out the "ooooohh!" and it still worked just as well!
The shampoo I was surprised to discover is also bright pink, I think this shampoo might just be aimed at the ladies! It smells lovely, just like pears and nice and fruity. It lathers up really well and it's a real luscious lather you can feel it moisturising your hair as you wash. The smell is also lovely while you are washing it smells lovely and fresh and fruity. It rinses out of your hair really easily too.
After using it my hair does feel much softer and smoother and I have found that since using this my hair does sit much better and although I do still tend to use my straighteners to smooth my hair I don't have to all the time. I have used this shampoo with conditioner and without (although just my tres semme conditioner, I haven't tried the Herbal Essences one yet) and to tell the truth I haven't noticed a lot of difference using the conditioner. I think even without the conditioner my hair feels so much softer and smoother. Another thing I like about this shampoo is the smell I can still smell the lovely pear smell on my hair during the day which I normally can't with other shampoos.
I really like this shampoo, its good value for money, smells lovely, leaves my hair soft, shiny and sitting beautifully and its pink (what more could you ask for!). I will certainly buy this again and am tempted to try the conditioner, although not to see what the answer to the question is............ its just for my hair, honest!!!
Summary: A fantastic smelling shampoo that leaves hair looking good.
