Advantages: Nice colour/feel. Nice bottle design.
Disadvantages: Leaves hair lank.
I'm one of these people who really struggles to find a shampoo that works for them...I am forever trying different products & invariably palming them off on someone else after a few washes...
I first tried the Clairol Herbal Essences range a couple of years ago & was really pleased with it. I'd stuck with it from then on, trying different shampoo's in the range & having success with most, if not all, of the range.
So, when I ran out a few weeks ago I popped off to Wilkinson's for a fresh supply. I was pleased to see that (as is often the case) the shampoo's & conditioner's were on a 'Buy 1 get 1 Free' offer, & also noted that the packaging had changed, with a range of fresh & funky colours & a new bottle shape. However, on closer inspection I realised with dismay that the formula's had also changed. A bit of a worry, but having so much success with Herbal Essences previously, I took the plunge....
Since it was BOGOF, I decided to try a couple of different formulas, & randomly opted for the colours I liked best (lime green & hot pink!). I have now been using the pink bottle (Seductively Straight) for a few weeks & have to say I am not impressed...
My hair is prone to the odd bout of frizziness & I do like to use straighteners, so I thought a shampoo labelled 'Seductively Straight' would be ideal, but alas no. My hair is no more seductive or straight following the use of this product.
The shampoo itself is a gorgeous pink colour & looks quite glittery/shimmery. It feels much thicker & silkier than the previous H.E. formulas, so scores quite highly for looks & feel. When using, the shampoo is almost too thick to lather up properly, but still feels nice & covers/penetrates my hair well. Unfortunately though, as I find with a lot of shampoo's, my hair feels a bit lank after use & soon looks greasy. I always have to wash my hair every other day as it is, & this shampoo does not help matters...
The new bottle design is lovely, & the shampoo is easy to squeeze out. The scent, whilst still nice, isn't as nice as previous Herbal Essences shampoo's I have used, although hubby commented on how nice the scent was after sneakily using it one day last week!
So, I have one more formula to try...if it's no better then I'll be back to the drawing board...

- 21/07/09 Eek, one to avoid! Thank you - I was eyeing this up last week, but decided to wait as I already have a full bottle of shampoo. Glad I did now! I have to wash my hair daily, because I am made of grease (yet get frizz, how unfair is life?), so really wouldn't be for me. |

- 16/07/09 I don't like the new Herbal Essences at all. I don't know why they had to change them, Susan |
