i have always been a huge fan of the herbal essences range, so i jumped at the chance of purchasing this product for a tousled look, when i saw it on the shelves. i have always been keen to get the perfect beach waves, but have never liked the thought of spraying my hair with salt water, and killing all my hair! - so i was pleasantly surprised when i used this product.
my natural hair is a more puffier, crazier, fluffier version of wavy hair (not great), so i was extremely happy when this conditioner created more confined, natural looking waves, that had a perfect just of the beach kind of look that mosts girlies want!
after several uses, i have discovered the best way to get the perfect tousled look is to dry your roots with a dryer once you are out of the shower, but leave the layers underneath to dry naturally.
another bonus is that the product smells great, and leaves your hair smelling good too (but this doesn't come as a surprise as most of the herbal essences range smell lovely)
i just loved that this is probably the first haircare product i have bought that just does exactly what it says on the tin.
I recently bought this along with the shampoo as I love the look of naturally tousled hair. Herbal Essences usually works well for my hair so I had high hopes for this product. I got it whilst Boots had a buy one get one free offer on. So both the shampoo and conditioner cost me £3.89
My hair is fairly long and very thick. I am also prone to a lot of frizz and dryness in my ends because I have dyed my hair before. Ultimately I wanted a product that would enhance my layers and give me soft and frizz free hair. This conditioner is formulated especially for wavy hair which I have.
The packaging is simple and follows the same design bottle as all other Herbal Essences conditioners. I am not a huge fan of the cap though. I don't like how you have to push down first to open the hole so the product can get squeezed out. I find that this seems to waste a lot of product in the lid.
The consistency of the conditioner is thick which is great as I find that I end up wasting so much product if I use a runny conditioner. The conditioner is white with a pearly finish and the scent is beautiful. It smells the same as the shampoo. It is light and floral.
After shampooing I applied the product generously throughout my hair brushing it through with my shower comb. The product washes out easily and doesn't leave any annoying residue in my hair which is great.
I let my hair dry naturally and found that it was left soft and smooth after using this. I won't go as far as to say my hair was tousled and frizz free but it was definitely an improvement. The conditioner works a lot better than the shampoo does. I also noticed that my hair had a lot less fly aways than it usually does which was great.
Overall a good conditioner. I probably won't buy it again as I know there are better products out there for my hair. However this conditioner does do an excellent job especially for the price.
I have always been a fan of the herbal essences range for many years because of their distinct fruity fragrances and new innovative designs. I have tried almost every type of conditioner available from herbal essences' range that I wouldn't mind my hair smelling of.
One of my favourites has to definitely be one of their newest products "tousle me softly" (the purple ones!) as it leaves my hair significantly softer than their other conditioners have done. I currently have two different versions at the side of my bath that I like to alternate between because I can never decide which smell I prefer. And I've noticed that the tousle me softly conditioner has genuinely given me softer, smoother and much more manageable hair with ends that don't knot up.
I can tell the quality difference when I use this product as I also alternate between leaving my hair to dry itself throughout my sleep and waking up with surprisingly silky hair, and also blow drying it straight with a barrel brush - both have equally satisfying results whenever I choose to use this conditioner.
The smell isn't one of my favourites though as it has a floral fragrance and I am not particularly keen on these kinds of smells and prefer sweet and fruity ones (this is why I've been choosing between two conditioners on different days) so I'm not a huge fan of the smell of the tousle me softly range but the end result is absolutely worth it and gives me gorgeous hair and even sorts out my clip in extensions when I've clogged them up with hair spray and straightened and curled them too much, this conditioner brings both the extensions and my own hair back to life so I am totally in love with this stuff.
You can often find these products on offer for buy one get one free or 3 for 2 offers in a number of super market stores and usually average between £1.50 - £3.50 depending on what product it is and what size you choose.
When I recently bought myself the matching shampoo to this product, I of course bought myself the matching conditioner. I like to always use matching products on my hair and as all the 200ml bottles of the shampoo and conditioner were on offer in my local Wilkinson's at a pound a bottle opposed to the usual £2.00 price mark they had on them seemed a good little saving to me!
My hair is a right old mixture of things really and problematic to say the least. I suffer with really greasy roots, a dry and frizzy mid section (particularly if I use the wrong types of shampoo and conditioner on my hair!) and am very prone to dry split ends. I also dye my hair bright red so I don't want to use anything to stripping either or the colour gets right ripped out of my hair meaning I have to dye it too often then!
This product I really fancied when I spotted it. Not only was the bottle nice and attractive and sleek looking and it was on offer but it offers us tousled hair as well. I really liked the thought of my natural waves and odd curls being defined and being able to instead of straightening the life out of it...for it to be more natural and wearable an as God intended!
Well like I say the bottle that this comes in holds 200ml of the conditioner (there are other sizes available by the way in this formula) and the bottle is purple, wavy and oblong in its shape and it has a bright green flip top lid situated at the bottom of it. On the front of the bottle we are told that it is Clairol Herbal Essences 'New' Tousle Me Softly 'For a tousled look' Conditioner 'With wild violet & pomegranate extracts' and that it is for naturally wavy hair. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being told a little bit about the product and how to use it, the ingredients and size is listed (as I have told you already) and contact details for Herbal Essences are listed. Nice enough, easy to handle and informative bottle this is.
The Conditioner Itself:
The conditioner is white in colour and rather thickish with a hint of a lilac colour to it. If you have used the matching shampoo to this, this is actually stronger and heavier in scent than that of the shampoo and where as I loved the fresh scent the shampoo has to it, this is a tad too strong and sweet in my opinion and in fact rather sickly when in use. This has a fragrance of floral violet to it but the pomegranate extract is really strong, fakely smelling and far too sweet for me and I simply am not one bit keen on it!
However using it is easy enough, you don't need much of the soft and silky feeling conditioner at all and all you do is simply massage it into damp/wet clean hair for as long as you wish to before rinsing it out which it does with complete ease.
This left my hair feeling very soft but not fakely or overly so. It also seemed to define my waves and curls, helped to make them and keep them frizz free for longer and didn't upset my greasy roots at all. I'd argue the fact this didn't give my hair a tousled look but like I say it id tame my frizz down alot and made what I have look a little more tidy though in my opinion not more wearable.
Although this is a reasonably thick conditioner it didn't weigh my hair down at all, promoted a little shine and all in all I was pleased enough with the results of it. What I didn't appreciate though was that the sweet, fake fragrance lingered on my hair all day long and was far too fruity fragranced for me.
This is simply an ok conditioner but nothing special in my humble opinion! Don't expect a tousled look as such but it is a gentle tamer for what you have got at least!
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc.
