Advantages: Gives some volume and hold, doesn't grease hair
Disadvantages: Leaves hands sticky. doesn't provide a lot of volume
I bought the 50ml minature of this James Brown 'Volume Boost' mousse from Boots recently and couldn't wait to try it. I have fine hair so need products to give it lift and that this would do the trick. The product claims to create natural full body without a trace of stickiness, but I beg to differ....
The mousse is white and has a fresh, almost masculine scent. I applied a walnut sized amount to damp hair as directed. Firstly I found it had to apply to my hair as the product seeming to stick to my hand and wouldn't take to my hair very well. I brushed the product my hair before blowdrying my hair in sections.
After drying my hair I had to wash my hands as they felt quite sticky.
My hair did look more volumised compared to not using a product, but I was expecting more volume and hold from this product. The results were similar to those experienced from bog standard hair mousses.
My hair however, didn't feel sticky or look dull with the mousse in like some products can. After using the mousse my hair didn't get greasy any quicker than usual either.
Overall this mousse does provide some volume and hold to hair, just maybe not as much as the packaging leads you to believe.
I rate it 3 stars
Summary: A reasonable mousse, but I won't purchase it again
