Advantages: strong colour, good quality materials

Disadvantages: none.

Well, after my latest hair drama- trying to go from dark brown dye to highlighted blonde, i thought i'd give you guys the benefit of my (not inconsiderable) experience....

To give you an idea of where i'm at. In the past 2 weeks...

Live xxl colour- platinum blonde = ginger
... another go with it.. = ginger.
nice n' easy dark ash blonde= better.
garnier highlighting kit = yellow.
Me getting sick of the gingerness and trying light brown dye to tone it down...to the light brown hair i have now.

It's at this point that I have reached for jerome russell's highlighting kit- crucially- FOR LIGHT TO DARK BROWN HAIR.

I say "crucially" because I havent seen another on the market that promises BLONDE highlights for Dark hair. Most others will say blonde, then when you look at the box, it'll say in small print "golden/honey/red blonde" For which read 'ginger', or it will say "not for dark hair".

But this actually comes with 40% vol peroxide instead of the 30, and is aimed at those with dark hair. Goody gumdrops...

The first thing that struck me about this was the quality of the kit. Mine cost me only £4.69 in wilkos, but i actually thought that the quality was very good. you get a decent highlighting cap- that is well designed for longer hair because its got a plastic flap that comes out of the back to protect hair. Secondly it has crosses on it, to help you highlight. You get the bleach powder, the peroxide, and a decent little brush to apply with, plus a high quality hook for the cap that you can keep. its better than the little crappy mascara type brushes you get in so many kits. You also get a "troubleshooting" section on the leaflet which is very useful.

so, after pulling my hair through the cap, i roped my boyfriend into applying the bleach. After about 2 minutes, he said it was turning yellow, which is quite fast, considering the other blonding products ive used. I've got the bleach on now, and i'm sitting here with a blue towel over my head, like Richie in the christmas episode of bottom. The colour looks good at the moment, so i'm going to give it a few more minutes and rinse off- and pray that its blonde not orange!

Well, okay, i'm back. It's not done a bad job at all, and it's by far the best blonding product i've used over the past few days. It is actually blonde- not yellow or orange. I told my mum about it and she said she'd used it before and she thought it was good too. So there you go- double recommendation. It seems to have really lifted the colour well, and given me a yellowy blonde- which given the amount of colours that have been on it the past few days is not bad at all. I think that if your hair were already blonde or highlighted, or this was done on natural hair colour, it would work very well indeed. This is a great little product, and its done a better job than expected and i really like the colour. I'd say to anybody who is wanting to lighten their hair from dyed to blonde to go for this, because ive found it to be the best on the market.

Summary: The best blonding product i've used.
