Hooray hooray hooray! For both Dooyoo and Jerome Russell! I am one VERY happy bunny!

I was born with medium brown hair which got darker as I grew older. But all my life I've been a blonde at heart! I remember being heartbroken at school because they would never pick me to be an angel in the Nativity play - because all the angels had to be blonde! This upsetting experience scarred me permanently and has led to an obsession with blonde hair and a series of hair-dyeing disasters ;-D yes, I think I should definitely sue Birmingham Local Education Authority ;-D

For us dark brunettes going blonde is a real risk. Hair dyes are either too weak, or you use peroxide and end up looking like Marilyn Monroe dragged through a hedge. I'd tried so much over the years, the AWFUL, awful Sun-In being a particular example. One time it made my hair like straw and ruined my graduation photo (my mom's never forgiven me!), another time it turned it red. then I used a Schwarzkopf kit with such disastrous results that I had to take the next day off work to re-dye my hair dark! I thought all hope was lost till I joined Dooyoo!

I read the two excellent ops on Jerome Russell's Bblonde hair lightener and decided to have a go. There are now two types of this product - a hair lightning kit or a highlighting kit. I chose the highlighting one.

You get everything in the kit - peroxide, gloves, highlighting cap, two sizes of hooks, application brush, development cap and a sachet of gorgeous shampoo.

I'm one of those people who never bothers with strand tests, but this time I did. And it's absolutely ESSENTIAL to do one. This is powerful stuff and lightens your hair dramatically in a short space of time. Be warned - the strand test isn't half so dramatic as the end result. So leave the mixture on for a bit less time and check it regularly!

My only two gripes about this product are that it was extremely d
ifficult to pull my hair through the highlighting cap - but then that's not a problem exclusive to Jerome Russell. Also, even though I only highlighted certain strands of my hair, it's turned it awfully dry at the ends. Creamy conditioner ahoy!

And the result? Lovely, lovely golden streaks, very visible but not too brassy. Lots of compliments from people who have said it's even changed my skin complexion. My advice? If you're brunette on top but blonde inside, buy this highlighting kit. It's the best one out and is a good transition between dark brown and full blonde.
