Advantages: does help go lighter

Disadvantages: Burns, Goes orange

To cut a long story short, im 15, and i decided to be different and dyed my hair black, i didnt like it so i put a pre-lightner on my hair because i wanted to get back to my natural colour, blonde. So, the pre-lightner turned my hair a mucky brown colour and i had orange roots. The next morning my mother took me to get some bleach for the final step, turning blonde!
She got Jerome Russells BBlonde powder bleach and 40vl cream peroxide bottles. we mixed the mixture and was away doing every part of my hair from root to tip. The leaflet said that there would be a slight burning sensation as it is a bleach, so i thought nothing of it as my head started to tingle and burn. About 45 minitues later, i was in agony and racing to get to the bathroom to wash the mixture off my head. When i rinsed it all off my mother was looking at the back of my neck saying " Oh my god, your necks burned! ". My head felt terrible, i couldnt touch it as i was in so much pain. My hair end result colour was orange from the middle down wards and white at the roots! Monday morning i was suppose to be in school but i took the day off to try and fix the disaster, i went to a salon and asked if they could do a full head dye, they said yes, but as they were looking at my scalp they said " There is no way we could put any colour anywhere near your scalp as it is burned so badly, were afraid if we do you may have to go to the burns unit at A+E " I was mortified, instead they did lowlights so no to touch my scalp, they used a brown colour. My hair is now ok except about 4 inches shorter as it killed all of my hair at the bottom, and white roots which i can only have the roots done in about a month, as nothing can touch my head until halfway through november because hopefully the burns will have dissapeared by then, i hope! I STRONGLY reccomend you DONOT use this product as i wouldnt want anyone to go through the pain i am suffering right now.

If I remember rightly, the packet does actually state not to get on your scalp. Lesson next time is to try a bit on the inside of your elbow first!! Oh and going from black to blonde should really be done by a professional!

I dyed my hair from the age of 19 until 32. I used this stuff sometimes, then went onto Tresame or whatever it's called from a hairdressers supply place. I used to mix, part bleach, conditioner and peroxide.
Eventually i let my hair grow back to Strawberry Blonde, and just have it streaked. I am left with a red mark on the back of my neck too.
