Advantages: fun, easy to use, gentle on hair

Disadvantages: not always very bright, fades fast

The fact that I change my hair colour more often than I do my underware (well, nearly),makes me feel a little bit of an authority on hair colour products.Whilst I don't profess to know everything about all hair colours, there aren't many that haven't been tried and tested at least once on my bonce.
I have rescently been trying out the range of Jerome Russell,B Vibrant Hair colours so I thought I'd better get my keyboard buisy and tell you all about them.

**What is this product?

Quite simply it is a semi-permanent hair colour, available in several vibrant colours (pink, purple, blue and red).By semi-permanent it suggests that it will last for between 6 and 8 washes.

So,what do I get?
You get -
1 Tube cream colourant
1 applicator top
1 pair poythene gloves
1 polythene cap
Instruction leaflet.

You get all of this in a stylish oval/tubilar box, which is silver with a coloured top insert in the colour of your chosen dye.
The front of the box portrays a woman with her hair dyed in the appropriate colour. The back displays a colour chart to corrispond with your hair colour before and after using the product.
Also listed on the back of the package is the contents, basic usage steps, ingredients, cautions and contact information.

**How to use.

This product is not suitable for use on all coloured hair, and dark hair should be pre lightened using Jerome Russell Bblonde hair lightening kits.
Application should be made to towel dried and washed (but not with conditioning shampoo or conditioner).
It involves applying the colourant from the tube to your hair (very messy)and then heating the colourant for 5 minutes with a hair dryer.Developing time varies from 5 to 40 minuites, but for descent results you really need to use the full developing time and warming it for the full 5 minutes.
After heating you wrap your hair in the provided cap and wait until your time is u
p.Then rinse thoroughtly (again very messy).Voilla...you hair should now look a striking shade of your chosen colour.

**Success?

Well it rather depends on what you call success......If yopu are hoping for an all over shocking colour then you will either of had to pre lighten your hair considerably or have very light hair to start with.It also has little effect on darker areas, not leaving the subtle tones it suggests it will. However if you have very light hair it will trun a vibrant colour and has pleasing results.
The point at which you may get disheartened is when it has been in for a few days or after the first couple of washes. It fades very badly even without washing, and despite having used all the colours in this range severaL times,I find no exception. If you want to keep your bright colours you are going to have to make this a weekly task.

**Cost.

I'm lucky and have been able to buy this product at my local wholesalers,at the grand price of £1.45,which to be honest makes this quite good value.I'm not sure I'd fel quite so pleased if I had been paying the high street prices of between £3.99 and £5.99.Available from most high street chemists and supermarkets the price varies quite considerably,so if you are tempted to try it out then shop around first.

**Conclusion

This is not the best product I've ever tried, but for a short term bit of fun it's excellent. The colours fade fast and it is very messy to use (for god's sake don't get it on your white bathroom suite),so it is definately no good for anyone who wants a long term colourant.
For me this is ideal though.I like to change my colour every week or so,and I don't want to have to strip the old colour out each time.I get it very cheaply and it covers my increasing grey quite well!!
Oh,and don't forget you need a hair dryer to use this product properly.

It does fade out way too quickly, I always go for Directins which has a wider colour range, and if you do it properly can last for ages!!
