I have read a lot of mixed reviews about these Hair Do extensions.
I'll start with the negative things I've heard. A lot of people don't like the fact that you cannot style these with heat, it will ruin the hair - however, they are sold as either wavy or straight. I bought straight and they are poker straight, so no need to be straightened anymore.
Another comment a lot of people have made is that you cannot wear them all the time otherwise they get ratty. This is true. You can brush them to get them looking a bit better, but the truth is they are not intended for everyday use. If you want everyday use, then go and have them professionally put into your hair.
The colour matches are ok. But would not be ideal for anyone who has highlighted hair - they are one solid block of colour. They woul also not be suitable for anyone with a strange colour of hair, they work on only the very basic hair colours. The hair is very shiny, so some people might not like that, but if you add some shine serum to your own hair, it makes the match much better.
The extensions come as one single piece attached to a net type thing, that secures in several places by clips. This makes it incredibly easy to put in, and doesn't even leave a tell-tale line when you release your own hair over the top of it.
The price tag on these is pretty steep if you buy them from a normal salon or a lot of places online. I actually bought mine on eBay (brand new) for half the price, and I'm chuffed with it.
Different places will tell you different things about these extensions, but I believe they are synthetic. That's why they are shiny, not suitable for heat styling, and can get a tad frizzy if you wear them too much. However, I worry about the ethics surrounding purhcases made from real hair, which is why I opted for synthetic. But if you are going to want these for everyday use rather than saving for special occasions, then I would strongly suggest seeking professional advice about the best product for you.
I am a hair extensionist and i must say i think for what you get the Jessica Simpson clip in extension piece is a waste of money!
As it is synthetic hair you can't style the hair or add any heat to the hair, and with synthetic hair within a few weeks it will look like you have an afro or will just look matted and messy.
For the money you will be much better off buying clip-in extensions. (sooo much cheaper)All you need to do is get a weft/bag of hair from a hair shop or ebay sell hundreds, you can buy the hair already pre clipped or you can buy the clips yourself and sew them to the hair. I know it may sound complicated but its really not.
When you have the clipped hair you just section your own hair and clip them in! (the more you clip them im the quicker you get and the better you get at realising where to place them). Its so simple to do and where its real hair you can wash it, blow dry it, straighten it, curl it... its just like your own hair.. so please dont waste your money when you can buy clip-ins for as little as £20-25.
If you would like any advice or help then please feel free to message me. thanks xxx
i brought these hair extentions at clothes show live Nec at £40 from the jessica simpson store. The Hair extentions come in a varaity of colours some one sat down and helped me find my perfect match. When they put it on me it looked great but it takes time putting them on yourself perfectly.
I first i did love this idea but i have only used it once on my work christmas party. It felt like the clips were loosing so i didnt really feel comftable for the rest of the night.
I tried to wash it the next day as they intructed but it looked like a dead beaver. I didnt stay soft and sliky which i was really dispointed by. I havnt used them with the head bands they came with i thought they looked at but tacky. The hair extention look better if you spray the top half of your hair with hairspray so it gives it abit of volume.
Overall i did like this product if it lasted abit longer. I found my hair was easy to style with it as i only had to worry about the top part of hair it did give me a glam party look. If only the clips were a bit stronger aswell i was worried it was going to fall off even with curby grips in.
I saw these hair extensions in the wig and hair piece section of House of Fraser. They were selling them for £65, which I didn't think was too bad, as you could be paying anything between £300 to £800 at the hairdressers (could be more or less, but certainly not under £100 for a full head!)
I've previously seen these being advertised online but they were being sold on American websites that either didn't ship to the UK or the postage would be quite pricey.... Anyway, I didn't bother buying these online, mainly, because I didn't know what colour I had to go for. Colours vary from monitor to monitor and it's just difficult judging what would look good from an online colour chart.
At the shop, they had colour samples, which made it easier to choose what colour to go for, without having to pull the hairpieces out of the packaging. The sales assistant held the different blondes up against my hair and we decided that the medium, golden colour would be best. She then got one out in the wavy extension and it looked really long coming out of the packaging.
At the time, I had shoulder length wavy hair but really wanted to have long hair. She demonstrated how to clip this piece in. Unlike most hair extensions systems, this comes in one piece with 7 little slip proof grips around the hairline. She parted my hair by my temples and pinned the top section up. Then she pinned the bottom section in a little bun and clipped the hair piece all around my hairline. Then she let my real hair down to cover the parting so the hairpiece wouldn't be apparent.
I was amazed at the results and stunned at how close the colour matched my hair. This also looked fabulous, knowing it was synthetic, it looked very natural and I love the different shades and highlights in the piece. Its just blends in beautifully with my real hair!
I now own pretty much every hair piece from the Jessica Simpson range, I love them all! They're all so beautiful, natural and modern looking, I can just change my hair in less than 5 minutes and they're excellent quality, I've had them of about a year now and they still look awesome!
I did a booboo. I changed me hairdresser. What was I thinking?! Well I had a discount voucher and as my current stylist has left Tony and Guy I thought Id try somewhere else and had a voucher for money off a cut and colour. The hairdresser took way to much off and the colour was awful so in came some hair extensions and a trip back to Tony and Guy to correct the colour.
The extensions come as a one peice and have several clips around them and they are so easy to use, you simply scrape half you hair up behind your ears and clip it up out of the way and place the extentions in the hairline and clip it around your ears and down the sides of your head, take the top layer of hair down and voila! long hair!. They are synthetic hair so you cant use your hair irons on them, but you can combe them gently and they can be reused agian and again.
At first I was a little self concious using them as I thought you could see the clips but they are very discreet. Your head does get a bit hot with them on as its almost like your wearing a wig, but the effect is well worth it and you forget your wearing them after a while.
They cost around £69 but you can get them cheaper on ebay so try them on in the shops first to get a good colour match- you can get them from hair salons and huge department stores. Check out the hairdo website for your local stockists.
