“ Brand: Jo Hansford / Type: Hair Colour „
Absolutley fantastic. Finally a hairdressers that listens to what the indiviudal wants, rather than do what they think you should have. I went to Jo Hansford to have a colour correction after a disaster courtesy of another salon (think dark red hair as opposed to golden brown and gold highlights). The result? Five hours of colour correcting and ... coming out the hairdressers with the colour I wanted!! Absolutley fantastic colourists. They may be expensive, but sometimes the extra is worth it. Certainly the peace of mind is. They will now be my regular hairdressers.I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Jo Hansford to any one.
I decided to write in after seeing what I thought was a very unfair review left by a previous writer...
Having tried a number of London salons, I am very happy with Jo Hansford. The hairdressers are friendly, but professional, the cuts are good, and my colour is truly sublime - it wasn't until I had been kept out of the country 10 weeks running due to work that my (female) boss realised I wasn't a natural blonde!
The biggest pros for me are in the great colour, and having a stylists who really listen to what you want.
Some things to consider, though.... As the previous writer pointed out, it is very expensive, especially for people who have more dramatic colour changes and need frequent appointments. The styles are also slightly more geared towards 30+ and blonde, rather than anything really interestingly styled or coloured (this suits me, as my job is very conservative, but could be less good for others!) - if you do want a more interesting colour, try Jaclyn, who has the greatest block red hair I've seen anywhere!
This sounds like there are more cons than pros, but if, like me, you don't mind what you pay in return for a great colour, great service and fooling everyone with yuor hair colour, then you shouldn't look past this salon. In terms of competitors, I can't talk about too many, but can say that I much preferred it to Nicky Clarke (flashy, poor service) and Vidal Sassoon (they gave me blocky highlights, and made me feel like I was on some kind of conveyor belt)
Hope this helps! x
I have been going to Jo Hansfords for 15 months. I have dark hair and usually have problems with trying to achieve lighter shades because my hair kicks out red/yellow/orange tones. When I leave the hairdresser it looks great but after two or three washes it satrts to look those horrid warm cheap hair do shades again. Anyone who has dark hair that likes to be lighter will know what I mean. Its much esaier to go from blonde to black because youcan just keep adding a warm shade. However neutralising warm shades is not so easy and becomes very expensive if its not done more or less semi-permanently at the hairdresser. One would expect that when you pay between 300-500 for a colour change it should stay for at least 4 weeks but this has not been my experience at Jo Hansford. After a year of going there and my husband noticing the increasing amounts I was spending on trying to maintain the hair colour we realised that there were at least 7 different colours in my hair. I went to Nicky Clarke for a second opinion and they agreed. Nobody would have guessed from looking at myhair that I had gone to one of the so called 'top' hairdressers in london for the last year. Unfortunately when I wanted to discuss this further and asked to speak to Jo or the Manager- Alison I was told they were only available during limited hours. I had told them I wasnt 100% happy with my hair and that my work schedule meant I couldnt come in at their specified time but that I would try. Afterall it was just a quick 5 minute chat withthem that would have sufficed. Anyhow I did endeavour to turn up in that specified time only to be told that they were too busy to see me because they had just gone into a meeting. I am really disappointed with the attention they decided to give and given the custom I have bought to them I think it unreasonable that they should not even spare 5 minutes. So I would not go back. The one plus of this hairdresser is that they do not pass you between several people (sometimes my hairdreser even washed my hair!) so in that respect good. But if you have an unusual colour request then perhaps best try somewhere that takes a real interest in what you ask as theyll be the ones taht will probably listen should you need to discuss the outcome. This was not the place for that. I will be trying Michael CHaralambous 5 doors along next time!
A really easy to use colourant that transformed me from very-blonde to jet-black in half an hour! It is easy to apply does not fade away and leaves my long hair very shiny and manageable. With the half price offer it definitely represents good value for money. Jo Hansford New Hair colour-Permanent--Lusterous shine- Good Colour & For less than a fiver. Using this was a bit daring for me having had my long hair golden blonde with highlights for more than three years and have been going to the hairdressers, which is definitely not 'me , too time consuming and too much money Being spontaneous by nature, I decided to return to my natural colour one morning last week and twenty minutes later my hair was jet black again.I used the shade'Polished Black' which comes in an applicator bottle with gloves for application, the instructions are clear and easy to follow. I applied this for just 20 minutes, when rinsed the sachet of conditioner is left on for one minute- the results are natural with a really glossy shine and my long hair now feels really soft to the touch and in good condition. I am very pleased with the results and fortunately everyone else likes it too, although a few friends have done a 'double-take'! There are also shampoos and conditoners within this range which I am going to try because I believe the quality of this new product is of a high standard and worth investing in. Ironically my hair has never looked and felt better and I am a lot better off financially, and saved some time into the bargain. If you are thinking of changing your colour visit Boots which is where I bought this, and check out the colours available - be daring you might be pleasantly suprised!!
