      Not worth it

I have dark blonde hair with some lighter highlights through the front. As my hair has a tendency to look brassy, I was looking for a shampoo that either stops this happening, or helps keep my colour for longer. I am a fan of John Frieda's blonde products, so I figured I'd give this one a try. It contains citrus and chamomile, which naturally highlight hair, and a natural lightening complex to gently reduce the colour pigments hair and promises to leave your hair looking sunkissed. The shampoo is a bright yellow colour. It smells nice, with a fresh, slightly fruity fragrance, although I find it doesn't really linger on your hair. The instructions say to use this shampoo daily for best results (they would though - daily usage means more shampoo used more quickly and therefore having to buy more sooner = more money for the company) but I wouldn't want to use it that often. I have found this shampoo does feel a bit harsh on my hair, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that has dry or damaged hair. I have the matching conditioner for this, but I also use an intensive leave in conditioner after using this to protect my hair. When I first wash my hair, it does look brighter and my highlights are more noticeable, but I have found that my hair seems to get greasier than usual when I use this shampoo. The first time I used this, I washed my hair in the evening and the next morning I had to use dry shampoo, as my hair looked so lank and greasy. Normally I can go a couple of days without needing dry shampoo. I have used it consistently every other day for 3 weeks, and didn't notice any difference in the colour of my hair, and I felt that the negatives outweighed the positives with this shampoo. I will finish this shampoo as I hate wasting things but I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy it again. It seemed too harsh for my hair and didn't give the results I had hoped for. This shampoo will live in my bathroom until special occasions where I need a boost to my hair colour. Full ingredients list is as follows Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Lactic Acid, Glycol Distearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Betaine, Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum Peel Extract, Curcuma Longa Root Extract, Crocus Sativus Flower Extract, Helianthus Annuus Seed Extract, Vitis Vinifera Juice Extract, Vitis Vinifera Seed Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycine, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Cocamide MEA, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Chloride, Propylene Glycol, Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Malic Acid, Tocopherol, Disodium EDTA, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Parfum, Acid Yellow 3, Limonene, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Hexyl Cinnamal. I bought mine through Amazon, the shampoo, matching conditioner and leave in conditioner from this range was £10, which I thought was a good deal. It is also available for around £5.50 in Boots and Superdrug, and Boots often have buy 2 get one free on John Frieda products.

      Highly recommended

I began using John Frieda Go Blonder shampoo following some glowing reports from some girls I work with, then also seeing a review on dooyoo! My natural hair colour is dark blonde, which goes lighter in the summer. I prefer my hair when it's lighter and would like it to be like that all the time. However, I don't want the upkeep of permanent dye/highlights or anything like that as I'm not particularly a girly-girl! Therefore, I was quite thrilled to find that there's a shampoo that can do it for me! I first purchased this in Tesco for £7 which I was rather shocked at how steep it was! Nevertheless, I thought it was worth a go, so popped it in the basket. I knew it wouldn't make a difference for the first use, but it didn't stop me looking for a difference! After a week or so, there definitely was a difference though; and even one of the girls at work commented on my hair being blonder. This shampoo comes in one of those bottles which stands on its lid, which means you don't have to precariously balance it on its lid when you get to the last few uses. It has a useful flippy top for easy use in the shower. This shampoo contains citrus and chamomile, which would typically lighten your hair for that summery sun-kissed look! It doesn't contain ammonia or peroxide, which has got to be a good thing! Squeezing this shampoo out of the bottle, it's a shiny, yellow colour of a reasonably thick consistency. It has a lovely smell to it and I think it smells quite summery! On application, it lathers up thickly, I was surprised quite how much! Even after rinsing out, my hair still kept a nice smell to it. When I first began using this shampoo, I also started using the conditioner as well, as I knew that lightening your hair dries it out a lot. I wash my hair every other day, so this bottle lasted me a few weeks. I had already decided I liked the effect, so I went into Asda to purchase some more and found it on sale for £4!! To be honest, I was quite gutted I'd paid so much for it the first time! Overall, I will carry on using this product, as it has been making my hair gradually lighter. However, I certainly won't be paying full price for it again, now that I know it's available elsewhere at a more reasonable price!

Excellent product that I will be using for a long while yet!

I have used this shampoo and its conditioner for 4 years now and I must say I think I have got this to thank for keeping my hair blonde for this long. It is only now fading to a darker blonde colour! I use it every other day for my hair and, although my hair is quite thin, it does make it look much fresher and more fuller. It has chamomile extract and it smells lovely. If I leave my hair unwashed for a few days (I do this on and off to release oils and grease) as soon as I use the shampoo again the bright blondness reappears. It really is a great product. However, a couple of uses is what it takes at first to see a difference in hair colour. But almost daily use is required from then on. This is okay though because it makes hair smell gorgeous!

I was very sceptical when I first bought this product along with it's conditioner but I was amazed at the results. You apply it just like normal shampoo, give it a good lather and use it daily for the best results. I noticed within 2-3 days that my hair was already a lighter blonde. It smells great and it also left my hair in great condition. It lasted me a long time considering I have long hair which I wash everyday. It was worth it and I got the exact results that I had hoped for but for me, personally, I can not afford to buy it every month even if the quality is absolutely brilliant.
