Advantages: Smells good, foams up well

Disadvantages: Pricey, doesnt shine as much as promised!

After using a cheaper shampoo and conditioner for a while, I decided to treat my hair to a little bit of luxury! I found John Frieda on a 2 for £6 offer (they're usually between £3-4 a bottle, depending where you shop, but they're regularly on offer), and bought a bottle of this shampoo and the matching conditioner. The range comes in 250ml, tube style, bottles with a cap opening at the bottom which you can stand it on. The bottles do look quite classy, and sit neatly in the bathroom.

I have darker brown hair, so got the 'Chocolate to Espresso' shades. The brilliant brunette range comes in a selection of shades, with one suitable for every kind of brunette. The shampoo claims to include 'light enhancers', and claims it 'Exposes brown hair's luminosity; reveals multi-dimensional shine'. The range is suitable for both natural and colour-treated brunette hair.

The shampoo smells nice. It has that 'salon-y' smell, which you don't get from some at home hair products, and the first few times you use it you'll find yourself smelling it every time you hair goes near you face, which is nice. The shampoo is typical consistency - runny and smooth, and it has a nice pearly shine to it. You don't need a huge amount, even for longer hair, and it foams up really well, which is why I think it lasts so long. It also rinses out quite easily, which is a big plus if you have loner or thicker hair, as it saves you having to rinse it over, and over again.

The results were good, but not spectacular. My hair was soft, and quite shiny and it did smell good, but the shine could have been stronger! I also found that I was washing my hair more when I started using this range, although that may have been due to recently having my hair styled differently and using more products on it. I don't think these 'light enhancers' work as well as they're made out to, but they don't do a bad job and I do like this shampoo and it's matching conditioner.

Overall, I'd say to try it if you see it on offer. There are smaller bottles available, and you can sometimes find 'mini gift packs' with shampoo/conditioner/serum in (best to try eBay if you want one). It does work out more expensive than other shampoos, but if it works well for you then it's definitely worth the extra money. I would try and ration the conditioner a little though, if you're using both, as the shampoo seems to last a lot longer and you're left with no conditioner left, otherwise the shampoo lasts for a long time. This bottle has lasted me well over a month now and I usually wash my hair every other day on average.

Conditioner review to follow soon!

I love this range but strangely the moisturising one doesn't work well on my hair, it leaves it a bit dull
