Advantages: Adds multidimensional shine and body as promised, makes hair manageable and soft, hair smells fresh,
Disadvantages: A litlle on the expensive side, especially when purchased with the matching conditioner
John Frieda, brilliant brunette shine release shampoo, is a light enhancing shampoo for brunettes and promises to reveal multi-dimensional shine. It is suitable for natural, highlighted or colour treated brown hair. The shampoo comes in a 250ml bottle and I buy mine at boots for £4.99. You can either chose to buy the volumising or moisturizing version of the product and there is a bottle for lighter shades of brown- chestnut to hazelnut - and one for darker shades - chocolate to espresso. I have used both types of shampoo for some time, when I dyed my hair dark brown I used the chocolate version, but since becoming pregnant I have used the lighter hazelnut shampoo as I have not dyed my might brown hair for some time, so it is now lighter in colour.
I was first advised about the product after speaking to a friend who used the shampoo and loved it. As I have dry, wavy hair I am always on the search for hair products which make my hair silky and smooth, so I thought I'd give this product a try. Since using the brilliant brunette shampoo in both shades I have found that around the top of my hair I can clearly see a multi dimentional brown shine, this is harder to observe in the rest of my hair which is more wavy, but is noticeable on straighter areas. I also find that the product does create extra volume as promised and gives me a definite shine which is hard for me to achieve with my hair type and many other shampoos. After use my hair feels softer and is more manageable which is really important when dealing with curly hair.
The shampoo smells fresh, although it hasn't got the most distinctive or sweetest smell it does leave hair feeling fresh and clean and john frieda describe the shampoo as 'a mositurising formula with crushed pearl and sweet almond oil'. I do find in order to get the best result from the shampoo it needs to be used with the brilliant brunette enhancing conditioner. One thing I will say however is that the conditioner is also a rather expensive £4.99; so when it comes to buying both products £10 can feel like quite a lot to spend. However the product in my view does do what is says on the tin, it lasts quite a while even though I wash my hair every 1-2 days and for my rather curly rebellious hair I have found it hard to find a shampoo set that not only manages curls but helps me make the best of my brunette hair. This is more important to me right now as I am not comfortable dying my hair due to my pregnancy, so having a more luxurious light enhancing shampoo helps me to feel a bit more glamourous.
Summary: A fantastic shampoo for brown hair-also good at calming curls and waves!
