Advantages: Smoothed hair a little
Disadvantages: Didnt create or hold curls
Still on my quest for frizz free hair on either my straight locks or curly I really couldn't resist purchasing this along with the John Frieda, Curl Around Shampoo and Conditioner. When it comes to my locks I tend to buy whole collections of things to use in conjunction with one another at once to give my hair style a fighting chance and I really don't like to use lots of different products that all smell different so when I go in Boots I usually have a full basket lol
My Hair....
Is shoulder length and dyed jet black. It's neither curly nor straight but when I get out of the shower or bath it is very curly however the curls drop out to waves and very frizzy messy ones so in frustration I use products to straighten as the norm. However with the right products I can have curls and if I put rollers on my hair it loves that and I get ringlets. However I cant be bothered to use curlers every day so I figured I'd work on what I have. Of course with this I did use the Curl Around Shampoo and Conditioner every time.
The Packaging Of John Frieda Frizz-Ease Dream Curls, Curl Perfecter.
Its a 400ml white recyclable spray bottle with a blueish lid. Labeling tells me clearly who it is by and what it is and tells me on the front that it 'transforms wilted waves & curls into sexy salon-inspired spirals. On the back gives me directions for use, ingredients and contact details for John Frieda.
The Promise....
Curl perfecter transforms wilted waves & curls into sexy swerves, curves & spirals. It's alcohol-free formula leaves hair super silky, never crispy!
Just spray and "scrunch" for the curls of your dreams.
Special conditioning and glossing agents help leave hair frizz-free and glistening with healthy looking shine.
To Use....
Towel dry hair. Shake before using the product. Spay liberally on damp hair from roots to ends, distributing evenly. 'scrunch' small sections of hair gently in fist to help create waves. Allow hair to drive naturally or blow dry using s diffuser with dryer set on 'low'. For touch-ups or next day wake-up call: spray and 'scrunch' on dry hair to reinvigorate curls.
Using It....
Well lots of wet product comes squirting out and it does feel slightly sticky and bits come out foamy but that does sink into your hair. It has a light smell of fruit oils but is not highly fragranced at all. I used it after shampooing and conditioning my hair and used it as directed by spraying it liberally all over my barnet and using with my diffuser on the lowest heat that was available to me. My result was very disappointing considering that I do own curly hair all be it when it's wet.
It didn't make my hair curlier but more importantly it didn't 'hold' my original curls or any I had after I achieved some. They were there as usual but they soon dropped out and gave way for frizz. The feel of my hair did feel natural and I have to admit there was less frizz than usual and my curls were more tidy. However it didn't give me better results than using less expensive products and a diffuser. The only good think about it was that it did give a nice natural shine.
I have also tried to use it the following day on dry hair and I did feel it was too sticky applied on to dry hair and you really do need curls of which I had none but a main of frizz and all it gave me was some 'crunch' which wasn't pleasant and which I washed it out pronto!
Overall....
I'm sure if you had a perm or really naturally curly hair the results would be fantastic but obviously my hair just isn't curly enough. It does nothing to create wave on my hair neither. In fact it does nothing at all. I'm not impressed! lol
£4.47 Boots.
Summary: Not worth the price tag.

- 29/01/08 I'm very split decision over John Frieda - there are certain products I can't live without and haven't found better of (the serum and the gloss spray), a few mediocre ones and a lot I really don't like.
As fourpaws said, the uberto gianni range is quite good, especially the curl freinds shampoo and conditioner! |

- 29/01/08 I've found the Umberto Giannini 'Curl Friends' range is excellent for keeping curls in all day. Its a shampoo, conditioner and a 'scrunching jelly'. My hair hasn't decieded whether it is curly, straight or wavy and on the days its curly, I use the 3 products and they are brilliant! Just a suggestion :P .. and you can get them from your favourite shop ;) x |
