Advantages: Does what it says, makes hair soft and tangle free, makes straightened hair very shiny

Disadvantages: Price? But it's worth it

I generally try to take good care of my hair, so I towel dry it and leave it to dry naturally. Often as I'm in a rush, I'll leave my hair to finish drying as I'm walking out of the house, which is apparently one of the worst things you can do for frizz.

Straightening my hair and having it cut very regularly to thin it out helps, but most of the time I just can't be bothered - especially at the moment as I'm so busy.

So on a shopping trip with my sister, we nipped in to Superdrug to try and find something good. I stopped by the Frizz Ease products - and there's a lot more than I was expecting. Different kinds of shampoos, conditioners, serums, mousses...the list goes on. I wanted to get just a simple shampoo, but my sister assured me it wouldn't work. So I decided to go for the serum (which I'll review sometime soon) backed up with the Frizz Ease Straight Ahead shampoo.

It's not cheap as shampoos go. At around £4-5 as standard, it's nowhere near as cheap as Tresemme, the budget brand of kings, or Herbal Essences etc.. However, I must confess I did buy a bottle of GHD shampoo at £32 once (and that was the ebay price - though in my defence it's absolutely fantastic), so in comparison Frizz Ease isn't extortionate.

It comes in a plastic squeezy bottle with a cap on the bottom so less is wasted. The bottle is fairly plain. No real use of colour, no real design, just some text. I guess this is supposed to be a 'serious' shampoo and also has less direct competition (I'm thinking about this too much now!!).

So...onto using it. I squeezed some into the palm of my hand to be greeted with a pale, creamish shampoo that smelled nice enough. Nothing specatcular so far. I used as directed, rinsed my hair easily enough, and got out of the shower. Towel dried as usual, which can't have helped...but when I got to combing my hair I really noticed the difference. My hair was a lot softer and smoother, and far less tangle free than usual.

Once dried, my hair was a lot less frizzy and static-y than normal as well. Used without the serum, the shampoo than my sister had been adament wouldn't work actually did a pretty good job. And it's better for my hair than straightening it constantly and cheaper than constant hair cuts.

As a side note: this shampoo makes straightened hair look absolutely amazing, giving it the incredibly shiny finish I normally only get in salons with a lot of effort and an experienced hairdresser. Perfect.

Summary: A good buy
