      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Nice to use if you want a fresh scent for an hour, otherwise don't bother.

My hair is the worst kind, it's not one of those that is lovely and tightly curled yet neither is it a style that is straight it is in somewhere in between in that it is wavy and frizzy and can become dry and just very bird nest like. I had been looking for a product that would smooth yet leave my hair looking sleek and straight and so I went on a search. I had heard mixed reviews about this product so I decided to give it a try as it was a part of the 3 for £10 deal being sold in Asda and I had used the shampoo's before so I was paying only £3.33 instead of almost £6 for the product which holds 100ml.

The product comes in a tube with a silver colouring that is reflective of the John Frieda brand, the writing is coloured purple and it has a feminine yet classy look to it, I have no problems leaving the product sitting on my unit which I may have done if it didn't look quite as it does now. The tube is squeezy plastic and has a flip top lid that is cap down, this means it is easy to get a lot of the product out and you don't end up wasting a lot of the creme inside. I have found that the cap clips back in easily each time, I haven't found that I have ended up with the product all over my units or anything. The hole that is under the cap is a decent size, not too small that you have to force the product out but neither is it so large that huge blobs end up being wasted, I have found that one little squirt is how much I need.

The product itself is white and has a pearlescent shine to it, almost like a lot of the shampoo's now-a-days added to this it is rather thick, I don't find after putting it in my hand that it is running all over the place but neither do I find that it is so thick that it is ended up clogging up my hair. I also love the smell of this, it smells like some of the other John Frieda products in that it is very fresh and has a hint of tropical fruits in there, it doesn't however stick around and after an hour or so after styling the scent is no longer around.

To use this product I wash my hair as normal and then when I come to blow dry it I will squeeze a blob around the size of a 10p as my hair is long I feel this is quite good, I then run my fingers through my hair and come it through to make sure it has coated my hair. I then just blow dry and straighten as normal. The first few times I found no difference in my hair except the texture felt a bit sticky and heavy that it just had too much product however I played around with the amount I was applying and now it no longer feels so heavy and sticky but neither does it really do as good a job as I suspected, I didn't find any change in my hair at all, perhaps it was just too frizzy to deal with however on the odd occasion I have found that it has left my hair smooth and sleek looking but it is more of an every once in a while situation rather than a regular occurance which is a disappointment. The tube has lasted well and I have applied nearly every time I have washed and styled my hair for the past month but it doesn't do anything! The only reason I applied was in the vain hope that it might work and so it didn't go to waste but unfortunately apart from a couple of times there have been no changes and so for that I can't recommend this product.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

When it works it's great, but sometimes randomly it just doesn't work!

My hair is naturally quite curly and wavy, and if left to its own devices after washing then it can sometimes stick out all over the place like a ball of frizz. For this reason, I always use a smoothing and taming creme, lotion or serum of some sort on my hair before blow drying it.

Recently when my tube from the Body Shop ran out I decided I would try out another brand, just for a change. After browsing in Boots I decided to give John Frieda a go, as he is so famous for his frizz ease range and I used to use some of these products when I was a teenager and had liked them back then. I paid £5.89 at Boots and the tube contains 100 ml of smoothing creme.

The packaging is pretty standard - a sturdy plastic tube with a flip top cap, as pictured above. The cap fastens securely and I have not had any mishaps with it leaking or coming open when travelling with it. It's easy to manage how much comes out, and I don't end up squirting out a wastefully large amount.

The creme is pearly white looking, quite silky in texture and of a medium thickness. It is quite liquidy and light, but not too runny. It has a really nice smell, which is very fruity and fresh. I am not sure exactly what the fragrance is supposed to be but it reminds me of apples and grapes. I was expecting just a general salon type smell the first time I used it, so it was a pleasant surprise.

The tube directs you to run this through wet or damp hair before blow drying and this is what I do, spreading it all over and especially focussing on the ends, and combing through to make sure it is distributed everywhere. It's very quick and easy to apply this to my hair. For some reason I find it works better if I leave it on my hair for a few minutes before I start to blow dry.

The results I get when using this are variable to be honest. Sometimes it works beautifully, leaving my hair silky, soft, straight and manageable. Happily this has been the case this morning and yesterday. However, at other times I have found it a bit frustrating as sometimes it leaves my hair still a bit frizzy and sort of puffed out crazily! I have no idea why it sometimes works better, as I use it in the same way every time. Maybe it is working better with certain shampoos and conditioners but I haven't noticed a particular pattern.

If I could guarantee that it would always give the best results which I sometimes get from it, I would have no hesitation buying it again, but I am a bit put off by the fact that sometimes the results are a bit erratic. Still, I do think I probably would get it again as on the whole I have been happy with it most days.
