Advantages: Does make blowdrying quicker
Disadvantages: Doesn't really "straighten" as such
Straightening sprays and "potions" are a bit of a nightmare. Strictly speaking (from someone who has relatively frizzy and wavy hair), they never do what they say on the bottle. The only way I have found to actually get anywhere near the desired results is to use a straightening cream which you apply after you have dried your hair, and just before you use your straightners.
However, saying all that, I do still use this spray everytime I was my hair. Why? Because it does seem to do something to help the straightening process. I actually think that it is probably more to do with drying out hair that is prone to retaining water, rather than actually straightening it, as I have found that my hair is much easier and quicker to blowdry when I use this product than when I don't. The instructions say that you should spray this liberally onto wet hair, comb through and then dry and style as normal.
This product has been around for a few years under various slightly different guises. I am fairly convinced that when I first used it, it was called "Miracle Dry" or something to that effect and was marketed as a blowdrying aid. More recently it was known as "Straightening Spray". The most recent version of this product contains a heat defence element to protect your hair and this is probably my least favourite aspect of it and probably why I will think about changing after I finish this bottle. I find a lot of products with heat defence in them make my hair feel sticky and like I have overused the product. This is no exception, though by no means the worse I have tried. I appreciate the fact that it supposedly protects the hair, but it tends to also make the drying aspect more difficult, which is why I was using the product in the first place.
This is not the cheapest straightening potion at £4.69 and I think it depends on how frizzy your hair is as to whether you actually notice any difference.
Summary: A generous 3 stars
