Advantages: its got an ace name
Disadvantages: it doesnt work for me
Im not blonde, but i had this product recommended to me by a friend, who thought it would be effective in holding my flicky outy bits in place. My hair is just above shoulder length at present, and layered through the front, so i like to flick it outwards with my ghd's, and ive discovered that this is a look that works for me but the flicks always fall out after about hald an hour and im left with flat, straight, boring hair. Ive tried loads of different gels, gunks, waxes and sprays to hold it in place and they all serve only to make my hair hard and wiry, without holding my flicks in for any longer than normal, so i went to boots and was pleased to find a sample size (25ml) for about £1.50 to try, and its a great size for carrying about in your handbag. To apply, you just rub into dry hair, you can use it to ruffle the cuticle of your hair and add volume or you can tweak individual bits of hair into shape. Funky Chunky is very light and as long as you dont go mad with it, you wont end up with hard hair. I forgot i had anything in my hair after id put it in, especially when my flicky bits fell out after only an hour. If you have short, think hair then this product might work better for you, but as my hair is heavy and thick its going to take a cement based product to keep my flicky bits in place. I use my funky chunky now to hold down the flyaway bits of hair after ive just washed and dried it. I rub a little between my palms and smooth it over my hair, and sometimes i use it to add volume and it works a treat, i just cant use it to hold my vital flicky bits. Its a brilliant size to carry around in your handbag, and my mini bottle has lasted me at least 3 months, using it a few times a week. Im not sure how big the full sized version is exactly but suffice to say its at least three times the size of the small one, andi think it costs arounf £5. The stuff is a clear gel and it smells abit like clearasil and i
t cleaves your hands feeling sticky afterwards. But it dries very quickly on your hands so i often forget to wash it off. Its good to use if you want something with very very light hold, but not if you need something stronger to tame your locks. Funky chunky comes in a very very pale violet bottle with a little spout which the 'texturiser' come out of. This stuff is good on all hair colours so i think the manufacturers might benefit from packaging it differently or switching it to a different line in the john freida range because i think it can be easily overlooked by non blondes. I hope you found this useful Thanks for reading Natalie :)
