I have recently had my hair re-highlighted so all the extra bleach on it has made it a little bit dry when I wash it. I always condition my hair well as it is very thick, bleached and also I straighten it everyday so I like to keep it in good condition, however when it has first been bleached I sometimes feel it needs that extra bit of care. A little while ago I received in the post a free sample of John Frieda Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque, I had actually forgotten about it, but after having my hair done the other day I decided to give it a try as I thought my hair could do with a bit extra conditioning after what I had put it through.
As I said I received this as a free sample, however it was not a tiny little sachet that doesn't have enough in it to cover your hair, the Intensive Recovery Masque comes in a large foil type packet containing plenty of the product to cover all of your hair. The packet is a rectangle shape with a small slit in one side which allows you to tear the top off of the packet, although this can be a bit tricky with wet hands. The packet is a grey colour, at the top is the name "John Frieda" who makes the product with "London, Pairs, New York" written underneath. Right in the middle of the packet is the name of the product "Frizz Ease Miraculous Recover Intensive Masque", this is repeated in a second language just underneath. All of this is written in a purple coloured writing which stands out against the pale grey background of the packet, it states that the product is fortified to resist breakage, there is no other information on the front of the packet, there are no fancy details, just the basics. The back of the packet contains further product information, this includes information about the product, the ingredients and the directions of use, the company address can also be found on the back of the packet. The information is written in a dark grey colour, again making it easy to read, it is also repeated in a further two languages.
The Frizz Ease Masque is said to be a deep treatment for your hair and contains avocado oil, it promises to repair and fortify dry, damaged and frizzy hair helping to repair it, at the same time it will moisturise your hair making it shiny. What I particularly liked about the masque is that it is safe to use on coloured hair, so ideal for my newly highlighted hair. The Masque is a milky white colour and has of a very thick consistency, I would say it is a little thicker compared to regular conditioner. I have used Frizz Ease products in the past and they all seem to have the same fragrance to them, I would say that this particular masque has a sweet and slightly floral fragrance to it, the fragrance is quite mild, I found that it smelt stronger in the packet compared to once you applied it to your hair. The packet contained a good amount of the masque and as I have long thick hair I found that I did need the whole amount in order to get a good coverage, if you purchased this product, obviously the amount needed would depend on your hair. The Masque reminded me very much of conditioner when I applied it to my hair, it didn't lather up at all but you could easily feel where you had and hadn't applied it, it was very easy to rinse off as well, I hate conditioners and such which take ages to rinse out of your hair, it makes it such hard work, however this was not the case and I could quickly rinse the masque from my hair.
Directions for Use
The directions for use are very simple and state that you smooth the conditioner through your hair from root to tip and leave for 3 to 5 minutes, after this period of time thoroughly rinse the conditioner from your hair. I washed my hair and conditioned it with my regular shampoo and conditioner first before applying the masque, but when it came to using it I did follow the instructions, although I may have left it on a little longer than stated, this didn't cause any problems.
Price and Availability
Since receiving my free sample of Frizz Ease Intensive Masque I have had a look around to see where I can buy this product from and how much, I have actually found it available in my local Boots, you can actually buy the same sized 25ml sachets as I received for just £1.99. Personally I thought this was a good price for this product, in the sachet you only get one use, well I do anyway, however this is not the sort of product I would use every time I wash my hair but one I would use maybe once a week or just over so I would say that this is a fair price for this product.
As I mentioned I used my sample of Frizz Ease Intensive Masque just after I had my hair highlighted, I particularly liked the fragrance of this product and found it very easy to apply and rinse from my hair. After I had used the masque I dried and styled my hair in the usual way, once finished my hair felt extremely soft, it had a lovely shine to it and was very sleek, I had straightened it, however after using the masque it seemed to straighten that little bit easy and looked much smoother than normal. I would certainly recommend this product as it really does work, as for actually repairing my hair I'm not sure, I think I would need to use it a few more times more regularly, however it definitely improved the appearance of my hair. This product is also reasonably priced as it is not something you need to use every time. I will definitely be using this product in the future and would recommend anyone gives it a go.
