Inside every blonde is a blonder blonde waiting to get out!!

I have blonde hair which I was born with and which I love but sometimes it needs a helping hand to keep it looking blonde! I get my highlights done every so often but when I saw this new Sheer Blonde Go Blonder lightening shampoo from the John Frieda range I thought I would try it to see if it actually works.

John Frieda is an English celebrity hairstylist who built hair salon and hair product businesses. He has a range of products for different types of hair, such as brunettes but the blonde was the one I tried. I was not holding out too many high hopes for this product because I generally think things like this are just a bit of a gimmick but now having used it for about two months I am pleasantly surprised.

According to his website, The New Sheer Blonde go blonder shampoo and conditioner, with citrus, chamomile and no harsh chemicals, gradually lightens hair to achieve a magical sun-kissed sparkle all year round. I was interested to know how this works as I did not want it to be a bleach or a dye. I was pleased to find out that it is actually ammonia and peroxide-free so they say it's gentle enough for daily use. Instead the hair is lightened by tightening the cuticle and strengthening the hair shaft.

The shampoo itself comes in a squeezy tube with a cap at the bottom. The shampoo is a lovely lemon yellow colour and has a bit of a sheen to it. It has a lovely smell as well. It's kind of hard to describe. It is somewhat citrusy but not too lemon overpowering smelling. It lathers up well and covers the hair well and you don't need to use that much. I do find though that I have to use the conditioner after using this shampoo as the shampoo leaves my hair a little tangled after lathering but that goes away after using the conditioner.

After using it for a couple of months now I can honestly say that I do think the shampoo and conditioner is making/keeping my hair blonder. It is safe to use on natural or colour treated hair so don't worry about using if you do get your hair coloured like me. I find that usually after getting my hair coloured it tends to fade after three weeks or so but with this shampoo I have really found that my hair is still light and blonde which is lovely. OF course it won't stop your roots showing through but it will keep the rest of your hair bright and glossy. It will not give you blonde hair if you have dark hair but it will keep your blonde hair looking blonder for longer.

The shampoo comes in tubes of 250ml and this has probably lasted me for about a month which I think is good value. A 250ml tube costs £5.49 from Boots but it is also sold at Supermarkets and so far I have been able to buy 2 for 1 at both Boots and Sainsburys which is worth taking advantage of.
