***HIGHLIGHTS/HAIR COLOUR***
I naturally have a mousey brown hair colour and I have always had blonde highlights put in my hair. I used to be blonde when I was much younger but my hair just seemed to get darker, as I got older. My friend is a hair-dresser and does do my high-lights for me which is nice as it's slightly cheaper than actually going to a salon and having it done, plus I have it done in the comfort of my own home. Although she doesn't charge much, she can't always fit me in due to work commitments, so when I saw this shampoo advertise I couldn't wait to give it a try to see if it actually worked. This would save me money going to get my highlights done, and I could do this myself at home.
***THE SHAMPOO***
The shampoo comes in a plastic tube which stands on its lid, which just flips open to dispense the shampoo. The tube is yellow at the top and more of a pale yellow/white colour at the bottom. On the front it does states that this is a lightening shampoo, for use on all blondes. On the back there is just the standard thing you would expect to find such as a list of ingredients and how to use the product which is self-explanatory being a shampoo but you should still read it anyway.
The shampoo contains citrus and chamomile which visibly lightens hair for a shimmery, sun-kissed blonde look. It also renews the hair to make it look and feel healthy. The shampoo is ammonia and peroxide free. It recommends using the conditioner after the shampoo to obtain optimal results.
***PRICE/AVALIABILITY***
This is available to buy in Boots, Superdrug and also some supermarkets, prices may vary, but for the standard tube of shampoo which is 250ml it will cost you about £5.89. Boots have got an offer on at the moment which is 2 for £7.50 on John Frieda products.
In this range you can also buy the conditioner and a lightening spray, which also help to gradually make you go blonder.
***USING THE PRODUCT***
The shampoo is a pale yellow colour, which looks shimmery and a bit pearlescent. It's the normal consistency of a shampoo which is runny but also a little thick too. It has a nice smell to it, which is very pleasant. I applied the shampoo to my wet hair and applied the shampoo. It lathered up very quickly and smelt lovely. The shampoo was easy to wash out and I followed by using the conditioner. Before blow drying my hair I did also apply some of the lightening spray as well. I dried my hair as normal and stood back to look at the results. There's no change when using this product for the first time as it gradually lightens, and it does state even on the spray that it could take up to 2 weeks for your hair to go blonder. I did how-ever notice my hair looked healthy, shiny and smooth. I could also still smell the product in my hair as well which was nice. I continued to use the shampoo, conditioner and the spray and within 2 weeks my hair started to look a lot lighter than it did before. I am still using this range now and my hair has definitely got so much lighter there hasn't been the need for me to have my high-lights done yet.
***OVERALL OPINION***
Although the shampoo is expensive, you do get a lot in the tube and as I've got fairly short hair, even when I wash my hair 3-4 times a week, the product does last quite a long time. If I see this range on offer I always buy it even if I don't need it as it does save you a lot of money. If you can't afford to have your hair high-lighted or coloured professionally then this product is perfect and works well. I will continue to use the product for as I can, not because it makes me blonder but because it leaves my hair feeling, soft, smooth and healthy looking.
