Advantages: refreshes tones

Disadvantages: price

There seems to be a new blonding shampoo out every few months and each time they all claim to offer amazing results and transform those dull brassy tones into lovely blonde tresses. I was dubious about this shampoo as I was wondering if this was the new one, did that mean the previous John Frieda blonding shampoos were never that good?

I have blonde hair so I am always on the lookout for good blonding shampoos that keep the colour in check, without being overly drying on the hair. This is something that I had found with the other Freida shampoos. They do usually enhance the blonde tones, but leave the hair a little dry afterwards.

This one comes in a smart looking purple bottle, so easy to spot in the range. It has a flip-top lid which means you can open it quickly and also stand it on the side of the bath without having to spend ages balancing it.

How to use:

I always over do it when in the bath, you really only need a small blob, about a ten pence piece size should suffice. It lathers up well in wet hair and there is a subtle smell, though maybe the Freida range should invest in slightly fruiter fragrances?

The shampoo rinses out pretty well, but make sure you work through from root to tip to ensure the shampoo gets to all hairs well. I followed the rinse with a blow-dry and examined the results.

Results:

The shampoo had certainly helped refresh blonde tones. Not a drastic difference, but used over time or on a daily basis, I would imagine this would help keep it in check. The hair felt light and very clean so no faults there, my only criticism is that again the shampoo made the hair feel a little dry later on in the day. I guess this can be counteracted by using a deep nourishing conditioner. The price tag is about a fiver, so that could also put people off, but otherwise it delivers good results, though not sure whether it is that different from the other Frieda blonding shampoos.

Summary: quite good
