Advantages: Will go with all the other Sheer Blonde bottles in yer cupboard
Disadvantages: Doesn't seem to condition, Not value for money
The Sheer Blonde Highlight Activation Shampoo promised shiny, reflective tresses: that's what I got. The Funky Chunky texturising gel promised defined styles, diluted brassiness and no flyaway bits: that's what I got. The Spotlight Serum promised to highlight and calm: it did. The Spun Gold balm promised sleek strands and perfectly smoothed style: guess what? That's what I got. So you'd think after trying all these (and more, groans my bank balance) that the conditioner would do what it said on the tin. Well, tube. Did it? Naaaaaaaah. I have used (and still use) many John Frieda products. I like the Frizz Ease range, I love the Beach Blonde highlighting gels and used the Sheer Blonde Hair Repair usually. The hair repair is an intensive conditioner, and although great for occasional use, it was just too heavy to use every other day. So I tried the regular conditioner, expecting the standard I had become used to... The first time I purchased a tube, I couldn't believe the difference it made to my hair. This is not in a good way. I was assured 'supple, smooth silk', my hair was anything but. It was difficult to brush through when wet, and when dried it was brittle, prone to tangling and extremely dry, any cheap conditioner would leave my hair softer than that did. I know I sound like it was the worst thing that's ever happened to me, and yup, there are far more important things in this world to worry about, but if you are considering handing over £4.95 for this, I just thought I'd tell you my experiences. I perservered, honest I did Guv'nor, I tried all the tricks; leaving it on for five, ten, thirty minutes...towel-drying hair first...combing through all of it, just using it on the ends, the roots, the middle....nope. By the end of the tube I wished I had taken it back. The rest of the range is amazing, if a little expensive, but wait for the 3 for 2's in Boots and it isn't to
o bad. I have to say as much as I love John Frieda, the conditioner has been replaced by Timotei in my bathroom. But more on that in another op. I have to be honest, I really wanted it to be great (I did! But I'm sad like that) and I won't be put off buying the other Sheer Blonde products, but the conditioner is definitely not worth it. ps. Just as a point to note: I don't spend my nights rocking on my bed muttering about designer haircare, I promise =)

- 30/04/03 I agree with this op completely. It just left my hair like straw as did the Beach Blonde conditioner. Save your money, get the Timotei or Sunsilk one instead! |
|
- 03/02/03 At that price I will definitely wait until it is on special offer! |

- 03/02/03 I like the opening paragraph. |
