About John Frieda/The Product

John Frieda an English celebrity hair stylist and founder of hair salons and special hair products. His hair products are widely available in the United States and other countries including the UK. In 1988 at the age of 37, John Frieda moved to the US for 12 years and collaborated with Sally Hershberger (another celebrity stylist) to create different hair products for blonds and brunettes. Now John Frieda has a large range of hair care products which can be found in most Boots and Superdrug stores and can also be purchased in some supermarkets as well.
The product I am reviewing is aimed at blonde haired people and is a highlight activating moisturising shampoo suitable for lighter shades of blonde. The shampoo claims to brighten the full spectrum of blonde tones so they appear healthy looking and shiny. The salon inspired formula contains jojoba oil, sunflower and white tea, which smoothes hair as it gently removes darkening, dull build-up. The formula is also moisturising which provides mega shine without adding or depositing any colour. The product is suitable for light shades of natural; colour treated or highlighted hair which needs a little extra moisture and care. I have very light blonde hair which is why I decided to go for the shampoo for lighter blondes. My hair can sometimes look dull (probably due the products I sometimes put in it), and I wanted to brighten my hair up a bit and give it some TLC. I have used John Frieda Sheer Blonde products in the past and have been impressed with the results so I was hoping that this product was going to be as good as the others I have tried. The product comes in a squeezy plastic tube which is a very pale yellow colour. The tube does have a shimmery/pearlescent look to it as well. The tube stands on its lid which is white in colour and simply unscrews so the whole lid comesoff. On the front of the tube it clearly states that this product is part of the Sheer Blonde range by John Frieda and is a moisturising shampoo. It also states that this shampoo is for lighter shades (you can purchase a different shampoo for darker shades). On the back of the tube is some information aboutthe product and how to use it. You can also find a list of ingredients as well.

You can purchase a 250ml tube of the shampoo from boots for £5.59. I have never tried this product before so wasn't sure what it was going to be like so I actually purchased a 50ml tube of the shampoo from my local Boots store for £1.99. At least if I didn't like the product or it wasn't very good I wouldn't have wasted all that money on a larger sized tube. You can also purchase the product from Boots website and other websites. Prices may vary.
Using the Product/Results

After ensuring my hair was completely wet I unscrewed the lid which wasn't very easy with wet hands. The lid comes fully off so I popped this to the side as I squeezed some of the shampoo out. The shampoo came out quite fast as it was quite runny. It was a white pearlescent colour which had a slight shimmer to it. I started to rub this into my wet hair which created a lovely soft, rich lather. As I did this I could really smell the product. I can't really describe the actual scent of the product but I really like the smell which was light and not too overpowering. After ensuring I had shampooed all my hair I rinsed the shampoo out. The shampoo rinsed out really easily and my hair felt a little smoother than it had done before. I did also purchase the conditioner but I wanted to test each of the products to see how good the products were when used separately.
Before drying my hair I always comb it using a wide toothed comb to get out any knots. Luckily there weren't that many knots in my hair only a few. I started to blow dry my hair as normal and as I did this I could smell the scent of the shampoo which was nice. I looked in the mirror at the results & I was sure that my hair definitely looked a little lighter than it had done before washing it. My hair looked healthier and in better condition. I loved the fact that I could still smell the shampoo on my hair and this lasted for at least 1 whole day before the smell eventually faded out and disappeared completely. My hair felt softer than it had done with previous shampoos; how-ever I think if I had used the conditioner with it then it would feel much softer than it did now.
Overall Opinion

The smell of the shampoo is really nice and it really lathers up when using it which feels as though my hair is getting a really good wash. The shampoo didn't leave any residue in my hair and I loved that the smell stayed in my hair even though I had used hair mousse in it. My hair definitely looked a little brighter than it had done before using the product and my hair also looked healthier too. I would definitely buy this product again and next time I will buy the product in a full size. I was a bit sceptical when picking up this product but I was willing to give it a go if it made my hair look brighter and healthier. The product certainly lives up to its claim and is a product that I would recommend to other light coloured blondes.
