Advantages: Soft, smooth, silky, shiny hair.
Disadvantages: No real long-term benefits
John Frieda Sheer Blonde Healthy Attitude Spray is a leave-in nourishing spray for blonde hair. It's part of what is now rather an extensive range of Sheer Blonde products which can be bought in beauty shops, drugstores and supermarkets. This spray costs £4.49 for a 200ml bottle.
This leave-in nourishing spray is created specially for blondes in need of hydration, and it's super-concentrated leave-in formula with essential vitamins and protein adds a boost of health to dry, damaged blonde hair, while providing a heat shield against thermal damage. Provitamin B5, honey, and wheat germ extracts instantly replenish moisture, restoring silky, shiny condition. It won't dull, darken or weigh down blonde hair, so it stays shiny and bright. It's suitable for all types of blonde hair, be it natural, dyed, or highlighted.
To use it you need to shake the bottle, then spray it liberally through damp hair after shampooing and conditioning, and do not rinse it out.
It comes in a gold coloured bottle with a spray pump on top. The spray top is easy to use and makes it easy to distribute the product evenly through the hair. I have shoulder length hair which is medium thickness, and I use between 5 and 10 sprays each time, depending on how my hair was feeling to start with. I use more if my hair has been feeling particularly dry or static, and less if it's been feeling ok.
The product has a watery consistency, and if you spray it on your hand and rub it in you can see it doesn't leave a lot of residue. It sells nice, but I'm not sure what it is that it smells of, I think it may be chamomile and something else, but I'm not certain. It's not particularly strong smelling anyway and once it's been on my hair for a few minutes I don't notice it anymore.
It's easy to spray through your hair, and I then comb my hair through to make sure it's evenly distributed throughout my hair. It works well as a detangler and my hair is easier to comb through with this than without. You can tell you've sprayed it on because it makes the hair slightly wetter, but as you use it on damp hair anyway this doesn't matter. It doesn't feel heavy or sticky on the hair, or leave any obvious residue, and once the hair dries you can't feel it.
Basically what this does for my hair is make it feel smoother and silkier, and stops it from going static. It works really well in this way, and doesn't make my blonde hair look dull. My hair looks really silky, shiny and healthy and it stays like that all day.
I'm not sure this has any real long-term benefits, it doesn't seem to have improved the condition of my hair, and I've been using it for years now, but I use it every day and the soft silky feeling always lasts until the next wash. I also sometimes use this on dry hair to combat static, by spraying some onto my hairbrush and giving it a quick brush through. This gets rid of any static and flyaway hairs, without making my hair look wet, greasy, or full of product.
I don't often use heat on my hair but on the few occasions I have blow-dried it or used straighteners this always seems to have done it's job in protecting my hair from the heat, so I can't fault it really. I think it's an excellent product that every blonde should have.
Recommended!
Summary: A great product to nourish blonde hair without making it dull

- 06/04/08 Most John Frieda styling products contain silicone (not sure about this one) which actually dries out the hair over time. Nicely reviewed though not one for me :-) |
