Advantages: Soft Hai
Disadvantages: Easily makes your hair greasy
I'm sure everyone who reads this has dyed their hair from time to time, but then again, there's a quite a few dying virgins who have a great hair colour, and has no need to change it, well if you saw my natural colour, you'd know why I dye it! Think a nice muddy colour! I’ve been every hair colour there is, from black to blonde with quite few mistakes in between (think Pink, and a nice sage green!) I love dying my hair, but my favourite colour has to be blonde, as they say blondes have more fun, which I completely agree with. I feel much more confident with blonde hair than I do with my horrible drab natural brown colour. So not long long ago, I decided I’d go and get my hair cut and get it bleached blonde again, (at the time it was a nasty red colour). I went to my hairdresser and got it cut, I quite liked the cut, short and very shaggy, and it looked really easy to copy at home, which is always an added bonus. I also got my hair dyed a nice golden blonde. I was happy with the results, which makes a change because I usually end up hating what I get done and trying to hide my head until it grows back again. Anyway I came out of the Hairdressers and decided if I was going to keep my hair looking nice and tidy, I would need lots of new expensive products to use, basically just another excuse to treat myself and spend some money! I went into Boots and I was having a wander around when I spotted Sheer Blonde by John Frieda, which is a styling and glossing cream, Sheer Blonde is a range of products that is stocked by Boots and many other stores. It includes a variety of shampoos and conditions and other products especially produced for highlighted or bleached hair. I thought the glssing creme sounded just like what I needed to tone down the colour of my hair and make it smooth and easy to manage. It is called John Frieda, Sheer Blonde golden Opportunity, styling and glossing cream. It cost approxim
ately £4 from Boots, although I think you will probably be able to find it cheaper in other shops, such as Superdrug and Savers. It comes in a 125ml tube and is purple in colour. It contains Aqua, Glycerin, and Phosphate, amongst other things that I’ve never heard of before. I’m not going to be a geek and list all the ingredients here, as no one will be really bothered, unless of course there’s a couple of chemist lurking about. The gloss inside the tube is quite thick and sticky, and I didn’t like the thought of applying to my hair, partly because it was purple and partly because it looked so thick and gloopy. “Just a tiny dab of this revolutionary styling crème, applied sparingly to dried hair, instantly transforms even dull, dry, brittle blonde hair into smooth, manageable, ultra-glossy hair” The claims of this product are very high and I thought it would be quite hard to live up to the expectations it had made for itself. After I had washed my hair I dried it using a hairdryer. My hair always looks pretty dry when doing this and having bleached hair doesn’t help. Half the time I end up looking like I've stuck my finger in a socket, so I have to use ome sort of gloss of cream to smooth it and straighten it. I applied a small amount of the gloss to my hair. Straight away my hair looked greasy and wet. I gave it a few moments, thinking it may soak into my hair. It didn’t! My hair looked extremely greasy, although it took all the brassyness out of the colour and made it look very natural. I have since tried this product numerous times, changing the amount used each time, each time, the same result has been achieved, - greasy hair!! The idea of this product is very good and it worked well to tone down my hair colour but it made it far too greasy! I would only recommend this type of glosing creme if you have extremely thick and dry hair, and even then I
would suggust only using the smallest amount possible!
