Advantages: seems to protect hair from drizzle/humidity, soft shiny hair
Disadvantages: not the cheapest around
I usually use matching shampoo and conditioner, but at the moment I'm using a Lush shampoo bar, so I needed a conditioner to go with it. Looking through my beauty products I came across a tube of John Frieda Weather Works conditioner which I'd bought ages ago when Boots had one of their 3 for 2 offers on.
The conditioner comes in a pale blue tube, and for me, I feel there is far too much writing on the front, which makes it look busy and I think there is too much going on. Personally I feel it would be better if they kept the majority of the text on the back to give a sleeker look.
John Frieda have many ranges of products, such as frizz-ease and sheer blonde, but this particular one is from the Weather Works range. These products are said to be 'proven to reduce the style ruining effects of any weather condition.' It also claims to 'lock in' shine, and improve texture and it's also safe for colour treated hair, which is great as my hair is dyed.
The conditioner itself is white and glossy and has a nice consistency. It's quite thick, but not so thick that it feels heavy. It glides through the hair very smoothly and I don't need to use a lot each time.
Although I could not identify exactly what the scent of this product is, I do think it's very masculine smelling. It smells to me like a men's shower gel and although it's OK, and not the worst smell ever, I think I'd prefer a sweeter, more feminine scent.
The conditioner can be rinsed straight after application, which is great as it means no waiting around as you sometimes need to do with other brands.
It rinses away easily and straight away I can feel that my hair, which is long and thick, has been detangled.
After drying I have found that my hair is soft and has a healthy looking shine to it. I don't get much frizz after using this conditioner either, and although it doesn't say that it will tame frizz, I do think it does to some degree.
I suppose the big question is whether or not this protects hair from the weather. Admittedly, I found it quite hard to tell at first, but this last week, we've had some awful weather with wind and the sort of drizzly rain that can really ruin a hairstyle and make it frizz and puff up.
I arrived at work last week after walking in the aforementioned drizzly rain. I headed straight to the ladies toilets to fix my hair up, anticipating that it would have turned into a huge ball of frizz. Although there was some slight frizz, it was nothing that running a brush through it a couple of times couldn't solve, and on the whole my hair looked nowhere near as bad as I had expected it to.
It was only the next day that it occurred to me that there was a good chance that this conditioner had had something to do with that as I had not changed any other hair care product recently.
At £5.49 for a 250ml tube in Boots, this is certainly not the cheapest on the market. Saying this, it's not the most expensive either, and if it's in your price range I would certainly recommend giving it a go.
Summary: Worth a try in my opinion
