Advantages: Helps straighten out curly/wavy hair, Little goes a long way
Disadvantages: A bit pricey
For as long as I can remember I’ve been a bit kinky! – My hair that is, not me (although I've had my moments!). I’ve got long, fairly straight, blonde hair but it has a little bit of a kink in it. For more years than I care to think of I have washed my hair every morning just so I can blow-dry it dead straight. Obviously all these years of blow-drying have left it a bit frizzy at the ends sometimes too. A couple of weeks ago, whilst wandering around Boots I came across this great little product that has really impressed me (and, contrary to popular opinion, I’m not that easily to impress). It helps to straighten my hair while blow-drying and keeps it straighter until I wash it again (usually every other day now). It's called John Frieda Frizz Ease Wind Down Relaxing Crème. I think it is aimed more towards people with ‘Curly Hair’ but it works very well on wavy/kinky hair too. As the name implies it is a crème treatment that helps to ‘relax’ your hair as you blow dry. The label says it also “helps stretch curls straight as you blow dry” although I don't have curly hair I did try and get my husband, who does have curly hair, to test it out for me but I was met with the response "I'm not putting that on my hair, it's all slimy." As you can tell he's not one of those 'New Men'. John Frieda’s Frizz Ease Wind Down Relaxing Crème comes in a 100ml bottle with a pump dispenser that is easy to use and not messy. As the bottle is clear you can see exactly how much is left. It costs around £3.75, which although sounds quite expensive, is very good value for money as a little goes a long way. The crème is very simple to use. Basically you just wash your hair as normal and towel it dry. While you hair is still damp squirt 1-2 pumps of the crème into your hand and work it through your hair from roots to tips. (
I find 1 squirt is enough for my hair). Then just comb it through. You don’t need to rinse it off. Then you just need to blow dry your hair. I use a big, paddle-type hairbrush and use it to pull each section quite tight while drying. I have also found that the ends are not frizzy or flyaway. Unlike a lot of other products I have tried I have found that although my hair feels quite slimy when I put the crème on, after drying it doesn’t look or feel greasy or sticky at all (even the next day). So, to sum up I would recommend giving this product a try if you have curly or wavy hair that you want to straighten out a bit, although I don’t think it could perform miracles? I’m not sure it would work for everybody but I have been really impressed with this product.
