Advantages: Gentle, nice fragrance.

Disadvantages: The lid is hard to open.

While I was pottering around my local discount store I spotted some Johnson & Johnson baby products, the one that really caught my eye was a bottle of Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender. Although I am not a baby and my children are no longer babies I threw a bottle in to my basket. I really like lavender and the thought of baby shampoo combined with lavender really appealed.

The bottle is clear and coloured an attractive purple colour, the flip lid is a darker purple colour and the whole effect is very attractive. As this is baby shampoo it has the No More Tears formula and is soap free, hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested. All great attributes for a hair care product whether you are an adult or baby.

I found the flip top lid quite difficult to open, if you were bathing a baby I would recommend opening the bottle before putting the baby in the water.

The shampoo smells wonderful, it has the lovely baby shampoo smell you would expect combined with a gentle lavender aroma. When I squeezed some shampoo in to my hand I was surprised because it is clear, for some reason I expected a purple tint, and very runny. Due to the runny quality of the shampoo I found I poured more into my hand than I would normally.

I needed to rinse and repeat when I used this shampoo, not something I usually have to do, the first lathering produced very little bubbles, so I rinsed and repeated. The second time around the shampoo foamed up beautifully. I did not use conditioner after shampooing as my hair felt very soft and tangle free.

I was able to comb my hair through with no problems while it was wet, usually a lack of conditioner would result in a long drawn out battle to force my hair into knot free submission. I allowed my hair to dry naturally and it dried up very soft, shiny and frizz free and I could smell the shampoo's delicate fragrance.

Overall, despite not being an actual baby (my husband disagrees on this point sometimes) I really enjoyed using Johnson's Baby Shampoo with Natural Lavender and if I had a baby I would not hesitate in using this product as it was so gentle and the fragrance was really nice and relaxing.

I only paid a £1 for my 300ml bottle, I feel that is an excellent price for such a good quality product, and while it will not replace my regular shampoo's and conditioners I am more than happy to give it shelf space for occasional use. I now have my eye on the Chamomile variety.

Thank you for reading.

Summary: A great shampoo, not just for babies.
