Advantages: A little goes a long way, contains lavender
Disadvantages: None
Ever since my daughters hair was long enough to get a good grip on she's been going through stages of pulling her hair out and sucking it. The doctor seems to think it's nothing to worry about (but that's another story!) so I've been trying lots of different ways to get her to stop. One thing I tried was using different shampoos to see if the taste would put her off the sucking part. Johnsons baby shampoo with natural lavender is one we have tried.
The shampoo is available to buy from the normal places such as Asda, Tesco and Boots. I think I paid around £2 for a 500ml bottle.
The packaging is the same as the more well-known normal Johnsons baby shampoo, just a different colour. The shampoo comes in a curved bottle featuring a flip top lid at the top. It is a purple transparent bottle complete with all of the relevant product information. The front of the bottle states that the shampoo has the very popular no more tears solution and that it contains lavender which makes it relaxing.
The shampoo itself is a clear colour and has a thick consistency. I only need to use a tiny 2 pence piece sized blob to produce an adequate lather on my daughters hair. I guess that's one good thing about her not having much hair, we don't have to use as much product! This baby shampoo contains lavender and you can definitely tell it does from the moment you dispense some of the shampoo as it has a calm fragrance to it. I wouldn't say it relaxes my daughter in any way, she gets so excited in the bath no matter what products we use, bath time is always a fun time in our house so I don't think it would ever work in a calming way.
The thick lather is easy to wash off, though it does take quite a few jugs of water, it all comes out fine and don't find it too much trouble rubbing on my daughters scalp to remove the last traces of the shampoo. Once out of the bath and my daughters hair has been towel dried, her hair looks nice and shiny and is left very soft. The lavender scent does seem to be apparent until my daughter goes to bed. I wouldn't say my daughter is left relaxed in any way, I think this is purely just because we use bath time to play and have fun. Maybe using it on babies and toddlers would have a more calming effect.
This bottle of shampoo seems to be lasting us ages, I think I've had it for a couple of months now and have a tony bit remaining so for the £2 paid it offers incredible value for money. The shampoo washes hair with a nice lavender fragrance and is easy to wash out and for these reasons I would definitely recommend it. It hasn't stopped my daughter from sucking her hair but I didn't really expect it to.
Summary: Lovely shampoo
