Advantages: Does what it says on the tin

Disadvantages: Leaves a sticky residue

My two year old daughter will curse me when she is older, I have passed down the 'birds nest' gene to her. Her hair is shoulder length when wet but ear length dry as it pings up into tight ringlets. This looks lovely, but it is not easy to brush or put up. However all princesses need pretty bunches, plaits and ponytails so I have tried every trick in the book to make life easier. Our final desperate try was Johnson's Junior Easy Combing Spray from Boots at a very reasonable £1.99 for 150mls. I was praying it would help since the little darling also put three packs of hair bobbles into the basket!

* Packaging *

The bottle is plastic and bubble gum pink, it has a spray nozzle on top which is clear. The picture on the front is a comb with a face on, the face has bunches so I told my daughter if she used it her hair would go up like that too. It claims to 'make caring for hard-to-manage hair easy'. The ingredients are all chemicals although it isn't as long a list as some other products. There are no instructions on the pack, it just says 'For wet and dry hair' Izzie loves the bottle, she calls it Mummy's Pink Puff

* The test *

I use it on Izzie's hair dry, we spray on about 6 squirts all over and comb it straight away. Most knots come out straight away, others need another squirt. Overall though it took less than half the time it usually would, and loads less tears.
The time when this product really comes into its own however, is when you are trying to put crazy hair into a tiny hair bobble. Isabelle wanted two French plaits for a party last week, normally I'd plait it and it would come out in seconds, but this time I drenched the hair in this spray and I could plait it neatly and it stayed for hours. It stopped the flyaway bits... um flying away. After taking the hair down later it was a bit sticky, and certainly needs washing more often, but at least it looks less like a birds nest now. The liquid is a milky colour but goes on perfectly clear on the hair.

* Smell *

Izzie wants to be like Mum now, she is nearing three and wants all the lipstick and perfume. This is our compromise, this spray smells floral, and she thinks she is using perfume when she applies it, quite often her friends will comment on it.

* Availability *

I have seen this for sale at Asda's and Boot's Johnson's is quite a popular brand and I have never had any trouble getting hold of it. I can see this bottle lasting about 6 months. It is good value for money.

I expect this product would be most useful to either curly or very frizzy hair, which is prone to tangles but any hair would benefit from it if it tends to have flyaway bits when up.

I have to give this 5 stars since I just couldn't live without it now.

Summary: A combing spray for little ones with crazy hair

sounds brilliant....I remember as a small child with very long hair, suffering the agonies of the damned each time it was brushed or combed.
