Advantages: tangle free leaves hair soft nice smell
Prior to my son's birth I stocked up on lots of lovely baby products to use. As this was pre baby we still had money so I was into buying brand names as I thought I wanted something I could trust. Johnson's is still probably one of the best know baby brands on the market and is highly advertised as being recommend by midwifes so I was sold. Now when my little cherub was born there really was not much hair on his head and we didn't start using shampoo on him till he has some curly golden locks when he was about 14 months old prior to this just water and normal baby wash seemed enough. Now it is firm fixture in our bathroom
What is it?
Johnson's baby shampoo is a shampoo that is suitable not only for babies but for all the family and Johnson's put the best for baby best for you all over their products. Usually just my son uses this but for the purpose of this review I thought I would try the shampoo too. Hubby is bald so he needs no shampoo baby or otherwise. Apparently this shampoo is also useful in helping to alleviate cradle cap though how I don't know.
The plastic recyclable bottle is clear with a yellow lid. The label is tear shaped and has the product description and wording on it of Johnson's baby shampoo, best ever softness and no more tears. On the reverse of the label that you can see through the shampoo you can read the instructions for use
The actual shampoo is a lemony golden color the liquid is transparent. The shampoo has a "baby smell" to it that seems to be in a lot of the Johnson's products so I think this is the fragrance element.
How to Use and our experience.
Wet your baby's hair with warm water and gently massage in a dollop of shampoo I find that for his locks that a 10 pence size dollop is just right. This then lathers up well and you end up with a head full of bubbly locks then rinse the shampoo out. When dry his hair is beautifully soft just like fluffy duckling really. The hair always looks and smells clean and can give him that cherub style curls without any knots.
Now as most parents will know washing hair is one of those jobs that can go either very well or be a scene for a horror film. The times it works well in our household is when it is a game. Since going swimming he is used to getting his hair wet and having water poured over his head with a watering can so we do that. Then we get him to put some of the bubbles on one of his bath animals and we rinse together. This seems to work well. I find his hair which is very fine never gets into any tangles with this shampoo. I also find that the smell of the shampoo whilst not strong is enough to get rid of any lingering chlorine smells after swimming
My experience with this shampoo was again I only needed a small amount for my hair which is shoulder length. It lathered up very well and on rinsing produce no tangles which for me was a miracle I normally find one. My hair after using my normally condition was very soft and flyaway probably too fly away. Though I probably wouldn't use this myself in the long term as I prefer I shampoo formulated for highlighted hair to protect my highlights I would not be adverse to pinching his if I ran out of mine.
As you only need such a small amount for the your Childs hair these bottles last for ages in our experience one bottle lasts about 5-6 months depending of if I have pinched some. As I still have 4 bottles untouched in the garage stored from prior to his birth I am unlikely to need to buy any for at least a couple of years still but I will definitely buy shampoo for him from this range again
This is available from most supermarkets Johnson's and supermarkets often have baby offers on for you to stock up on but if not on offer the full price is £1.79 but given how long this last I think this is good value.
