Advantages: Leaves baby soft hair, Camomile soothes, No more tears, lovely smell, leaves hair shiny.
Disadvantages: Not to be used on my hair!
Ever since Scarlet baby was born I of course only wanted to use the best products for her. With trying different things from well known branded products to own brands I have founds some gems but also had some disasters.
As she was born with a lot of hair (the nurses in the hospital kept coming to see her to marvel at the amount of hair she actually had) I wanted to make sure I found the right shampoo for her. I was always told when she was tiny that her hair would rub off but it didn't and it has just kept growing and growing. My profile photo was taken just after her first birthday so that just shows how much she actually has.
Johnsons is a very well known brand and I myself have used it quite alot through my teenage years due to a flaky scalp. I used to use the original one though and added a little drop of Tea Tree oil into it. With Scarlet, I have used all the range that Johnsons provide to find the right one.
I found the no more tangles just left her hair more tangled and getting a hair brush through it was a mission. I didn't think the original one was making her hair as soft as I would have liked and I didn't like the Lavender smell on that one. So I was left with the camomile. Which I have stuck with ever since.
Johnsons baby shampoo comes in a 500ml clear, squeezy, plastic bottle. The Camomile has a green lid with a flip top used to pour the shampoo out. The liquid itself is a light yellowish colour. The label on the front is in a tear drop shape with a smaller teardrop in red to show the well known no more tears logo that is a Johnsons baby shampoo trademark. The large teardrop shows the name in blue writing with the camomile flower and name in green also showing it as the softest ever formula.
Johnsons advise they use Camomile to maintain the light colour of your baby's hair but Camomile is also a well known soother, used for a general calming effect and also be soothing to most skin irritations. As Scarlet does suffer with Excema I thought this may help soothe her scalp.
You can't actually smell the camomile as soon as you open the bottle but as I poured it onto my hand it smelt sweet. It is certainly not a sickly sweet smell and has a slight not over powering smell of camomile. But I found the smell just right and lovely.
As for the no more tears formula, it is fantastic. Scarlet is not exactly the still type and even in the bath she rolls around and is wiggly so putting shampoo on can be a mission. But even if I got it onto her face she wasn't bothered at all. She just wiped it off and started splashing all over again. I was so glad we didn't have sore eyes and a screaming baby after.
As her hair os so long I always ensure I dry her hair after to stop her getting a cold and oh her hair was so soft. Getting a brush through it was so smooth. Usually she has a mop full of knots but after this shampoo it was so easy with again no screaming and fighting involved.
As soon as I finished drying her hair it was so shiney, so soft and smelt so lovely. I now only have to wash her hair every other day rather than everyday when I have used other brands. Even on the second day it is still shiny and smells just as lovely as when it was first washed.
I have always wanted shiney smooth hair and thought as Scarlet now had this I would give it a try but as my hair is more coarse and thick it didn't quite have the same effect on me as scarlet. I find it is definatly for the softer type of hair but I would suggest to any parent to try this one.
I will certainly be using this permantly on her and as it is two for £4.00 in boots plus your advantage card points, it is a bargain.
Summary: One that has a permanent place on my bathroom shelf!
