For years I have suffered with a dry scalp to the point where it becomes so dry, itchy and flaky I have to douse my head in baby oil which is a nightmare to wash out! On my latest trip to the hairdresser, she noticed my scalp was becoming dry again due to entering the colder months which is when it seems to flare up, so she suggested this Kerastase shampoo as a way to combat the dryness.
She explained to me that your scalp should have a neutral ph level, however if it becomes too acidic or alkaline you can run into problems such as my dry scalp! This shampoo aims to help restore the ph level of your scalp to one which is more neutral which should alleviate the dryness. I have always been somewhat sceptical about paying for expensive shampoos, as I feel they cannot really offer more then the ones available in Boots etc, however I decided to give this a try and am very glad I did.
The shampoo is designed for combination hair and claims to hydrate the scalp and reinforce its natural defences, although I am not sure exactly what that means! The shampoo contains 2.5% bioflorine which contains the purifying action. It aims to relieve dry and itchy scalps which I would argue it definitely does!
In terms of how well it actually washes my hair, I find that it lathers incredibly well and I only need to use a small literally ten pence size amount to do my entire hair length which is currently just past shoulder length. The 250 ml bottle therefore lasts me a good while so I don't feel too guilty about spending so much money on a shampoo!
The shampoo retails for around £15 in salons however can be found a few pounds cheaper online if you search around. Although this is expensive, I honestly think it has managed to keep my scalp relatively hydrated and I have definitely noticed it is not as dry and itchy as usual. I give this 5/5 because although the price is more then I would normally justify, the results definitely speak for themselves.
