Kerastase is one of my favourite brands for hair products. Made by L'Oreal it is their premium brand with prices to match. However the products do deliver exceptional results and in this case this shampoo does make my colour last longer. This particular shampoo has won awards from In Style magazine and is now in their hall of fame.
Kerastase Bain Chroma Riche is a shampoo designed for colour treated and sensitised hair.
The range is designed to prolong the life of coloured or highlighted hair . It also claims to deliver softness and a mirror like shine to hair.
The product comes in a pink plastic bottle. The shampoo is also a clear pinky colour.
Simply apply a small amount to wet hair, lather and then massage into hair , rinse thoroughly and repeat if necessary.
I usually apply a small 50p size blob to my short hair and only wash once as I tend to wash my hair every other day.
I am not that impressed with the scent of this shampoo, I would describe the fragrance as average , not offensive just a clean slightly powdery scent that is unremarkable. I think Kerastase should improve the scent in most of their range as it would make an excellent shampoo even better.
My hair is colour treated , has highlights, is fine , mature and slightly coarse in texture. It is also slightly wavy and light in colour so I have to work hard to get shiny looking hair.
My hair is probably mostly grey and I have it coloured at a salon to disguise the grey usually every 6 weeks. What bothers me most is the period when the colour fades which combined with the roots staring to show makes me very conscious about the lack of colour.
It is worse in Summer as the sun does make the colour fade faster and timing my salon appointments becomes more difficult.
I was using products designed for colour treated hair, but since using Chroma Riche I have noticed that the colour does not fade as much and in particular my roots are not as visible .
This shampoo definitely does prolong the life of the colour and I put my last appointment back a week as a result and booked my next appointment in 8 weeks time as I seem to be getting an extra 2 weeks out of the lengths. The roots still show through, but as the colour is lasting longer I have some highlights scattered and that makes them less obvious.
The shampoo also leaves my hair soft and manageable and it looks incredibly healthy. Although my hair looks shiny, I don't think this delivers mirror like shine , but I do think that is because my hair is light in colour.
Would I Recommend
This is a premium brand and it does deliver premium results. Prior to using this I tried many other brands designed for colour treated hair, but none seemed to prolong the life of the colour or make my hair smoother and shinier.
On the basis that my hair needs colouring less often , I would recommend as I think I will be able to go 7 to 8 weeks between colours , which will save me time and money. It is also a lovely shampoo and the one I use most often. I do use another Kerastase shampoo periodically as I am convinced that after a while I need to change shampoos as they stop delivering results.
Although I do not use this exclusively I have found that the texture of my hair has improved and my hair is softer and more shiny and so looks healthier. I also think that I don't need to use a conditioner every time I wash with this shampoo as it leaves my hair feeling soft and manageable.
This is an impressive shampoo that works really well on my colour treated hair and has made a significant improvement to the condition of my hair.
This is expensive and sells for around £15 for 250ml which would last me around 3 months washing every other day.
I bought mine when it had 40% off and I had a further 20% discount , so got it at half price. Given that my hair looks and feels much better and the colour lasts longer I will continue using this but will buy when it is discounted.
I bought mine from Feel Unique but I buy from HQ Hair and Look Fantastic online , depending on who has the best offer. It is usually only available from hair salons on the high street but you will pay full price.
