“ Brand: Kevin Murphy / What it does: moisturiz, texturises „
When i first opened up the 'Gritty business- Strong hold. Moulding clay', it really was 'gritty' and certainly did the business.
When you open it up, it looks like yucky goo and smells rather fruity (odd combination, i know), but this adds to the product. The look of the product really doesnt appeal at all, but the way it works is fantastic.
I was recommended this product by my hair stylist, she used it on me in the salon and then i was impressed, so i bought it for £12.45.
At first i was not at all impressed, trying to get the style with which the stylist worked my hair around. I couldnt do it.
Then i had my hair cut several months later on and then i started to try it again, this time proving a success.
Its all about the styling and timing with this product, i find if you work it into damp or slightly wet hair it works best, just after you have had a shower or a bath. This gives it some kind of sticking power to which it can work with.
If you time it right, the product can definately prove to be awesome, but use it when your hair is very dry and you may find it a problem.
My main downer on the product is the stickyness of the stuff, it really takes some time to get off your hands, it really sticks into your fingers and is very strong clay indeed.
The product has 'old fashioned' bee's wax, which sounds good, im not sure whether or not it adds to the way it works, I did a bit of research on it and apparantly, it has lots of beneficial points;
The main benefit of using bees wax in a hair product is of course that it smells nice, creates a pleasant fragrance and a sweet smell. It also makes your hair stronger and even thicker.
I wasnt aware of this until i looked it up. It builds up the volume in your hair, which gives you more to work with. It also gives you a glossy shine.
Added protection to your hair is also given by this bees wax. On top of this it provides moisture, softness, hydration and lubrication. It is very safe to use and is of course a natural ingredient found in the wild.
Very very interesting selling point also i think, alot of people dont have a clue what this does, so they will be impressed that they are rubbing 'bee's wax' into their hair. Maybe...
Also contains Kukui nut.
It will certianly last, if you are looking for a long strong holding clay wax with texture, this may be for you. This stuff will last all night long.
made in Australia, Kevin Murphy is an established hair product stylist, so if you want to 'feel' like you are getting the best or really care about name brands, this is a positive thing.
