KMS California Curl Up Conditioner

I bought this conditioner as it was on sale at salonskincare.co.uk in the summer and I am always looking for way to increase my hair natural waves/curls as I don't really like straightening my hair and adding heat to it.

- About the product

I have a couple of product from this brand and they have been great and as far as I am aware this packaging (photo above) is the new packaging for the brand. I have the product pictured above and I don't really like the bright garish packaging - besides the bright orange bottle, the texture of the bottle is a bit strange, it feels a little bit rubberised. The bottle I have contains 250ml or 8.5 lf oz. of product but this conditioner can come in 750ml bottles. The product does contain a couple of natural ingredients which include: peppermint and orange extract. This product claims to hydrate and enhance curls to keep them soft, bouncy and tangle free.

- Scent, texture and consistency

The scent of this product is a subtle version of the natural ingredients - orange and mint which combine to make a fresh, fruity scent that is not overpoweringly minty or too fruity and it is fairly sweet too. The scent is really nice although it does have a hint of plastic to it which isn't that great. The conditioner is off white in colour and it has a really smooth texture. The consistency is also generic as it is fairly thick and isn't runny.

- Using the product and results

I use this conditioner after I have washed my hair a couple of times and I use about a 10p sized amount which seems to be enough for my long and fairly thick hair, coloured hair - although sometimes I do use more. While using the conditioner the really nice fruity scent is released and the conditioner applies really nicely due to the thick consistency and smooth, silky texture. The product doesn't take long to apply and massage into the hair - I start at the ends of my hair and I apply the most at the ends and midlengths and the residual product on my hands is then smoothed over the rest of my hair. I massage the conditioner into the midlengths and ends of my hair and I leave the product on my hair for one/two minutes or more if my hair is feeling very dry. Overall, the conditioner applies nicely, it smells fairly nice and it detangled my hair as I apply/massage it into my hair. The conditioner doesn't take long to wash out either and after washing out the product has made my hair feel really smooth and detangled.

Once my hair is dry the effects of this product show, it makes my hair really smooth, soft, more manageable, mostly detangled and hydrated. Although the main selling point of the product is that it enhances curls hence 'curl up' and I find that this product didn't really enhance my curls/waves that much, maybe because my hair is long and thick but I was a little bit disappointed by this. Overall, the conditioner is REALLY nice and it has not negative affects really. The only disappointing thing about this product, besides the RRP, is the curl enhancing claims which I don't think it stands up too really as the effects are there but they are not great unfortunately.
