This is one of my favourite hair styling products. It comes in a bottle and when you twist the nozzle you are able to squeeze out the product. You get a good level of control on how much actually comes out and the twist nozzle avoids sticky spillages.
The paste is white with a nice fresh smell to it. You only need a small amount - for medium length hair I use a large pea sized blob.
The product rubs into damp or dry hair and I like the fact it is not sticky at all. It does however have a real good amount of hold. It can be used after washing to style but I also find it helpful for giving dry hair a bit of a revival if you need to pep up your style quickly.
When it dries you can brush it out without any flakeing problems.
It is a bit more expensive than other styling products but you only need a small amount for a good result.
Over the years there have been many different hair care products that I have used.
KMS California Hairplay Moulding Paste is just one of them.
WHO ARE KMS?
A hair care company from California. They produce a wide range of professional hair care products.
HOW ABOUT THE KMS Hair Play Molding Paste?
This is a great little product, that is available from most places, although as always the Mrs gets mine from http://www.salonlines.co.uk.
It is a moulding paste that can be used daily to shape and style your hair. It is economical and it takes are very small amount to create a fantastic look. There is no build up and it does not leave hair feeling gunky and sticky.
To make it even better, the paste smells great - fruity, the women love it (well my woman love it).
AND EASE OF USE?
It is quick and easy to use and just as quick and easy to wash out.
Put a pea size amount onto your fingers and run it through your hair. You can do this in wet or dry hair, adding it to wet hair gives more volume (not really the look I go for).
AND THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION - THE COST?
As I mentioned earlier, I get mine from http://www.salonlines.co.uk and they sell 150ml for £18.50.
Although it is more expensive than other brands, I find that the tub can last me anywhere between 5 - 7 months and so I think it is worth the money.
I love molding paste, i buy my paste on www.alwaysgorgeous.com2 molding paste for only £15.95, it's really cheap
I first bought KMS Hair Play Modeling Paste while on holiday in New Zealand. Its just an amazing product which is so easy to use and easy to style with. My friend had it to create a mini mohican style with his hair which was cool, he had very thick wirey hair and it worked very well. I have shortish fine hair that never stays put for long with the usual supermarket rubbish, but hair play works wonders. This stuff is available in salons mostly i think. It comes in a tube like a toothpaste pump, which is cool and mess free. It also lets you see how much is left. I use it mainly on damp hair which gives an amazing natural and healthy looking shine. It gives total control over the style and adds great texture. I found that gels used to sort of 'shatter' after a while because of their hardness, but hair play just sort of bounces! It doesnt get flaky and just flexes and adjusts throughout the day. In fact I could probably put it on in the morning and it would still hold and look good to go out that night. I prefer not to use it on dry hair cos it just looks a bit matted. Hair Play washes out very easily and it doesnt seem to have any damaging chemicals. Dont use too much in one go though as it can get too heavy. Ill never use any other product until I start to lose my hair! Then Ill just shave it off! The only drawback is the tube is quite expensive, but my 3.5floz lasted a month on average. www.kmshaircare.co.uk has an outlet locator thingy. But if that fails just type kms hair care online ordering or something like that into a search engine and youll get a few places in usa that will send it to you via mail order. www.hairmedic.com is good and you dont even need a credit card as they have special arrangements for old fashioned mail order. Watch out though as some american sites automatically whack on a UPS delivery which can cost around 60 quid! If you live in austraila its available online very cheaply indeed. UK has a few
mail order sites too.
An absolutely unbelievable product, this product is certainly unique. Touted as a "paste" the moment it comes out of the neat container you can see it certainly doesn't fit into any orthodox styling aid category. You can apply it to wet hair for a more wet look finish or dry hair for a matt finish. It instantly creates texture and volume and is very useful for creating cutting edge hair styles like short messy/spikey cuts. On longer hair it can be used to create a smooth and thick looking finish without any tackiness. It washes out VERY easily and doesn't look bad the day after its applied which considering the hold power is quite an advantage. The product itself is like a thick cream, not a pomade or wax, and is white. The fragrance is not overpowering and although advertised as fruity is more... of a fresh, synthetic smell. The container doubles up as the dispenser unit with a pump action (containing no aerosol) and is ideal for getting just the right amount of product into your palms. This is a salon only product so unfortunately you will not find it in your local pharmacy or supermarket.
