I first saw this product being advertised on youtube as a video advert in late 2012 with Cheryl Cole modeling the product. According to the advert with this product you can : protect it, heat it, style it, wave it and boost it. So does this product actually say what it is or is this another trick that L'Oreal is playing to try and get people to buy the product? As I have naturally wavy hair, I sometimes like a change of scene with my hair, especially when I am going for a night out, and go for a sleek, straight look instead of my usual, everyday wavy hair. From experience with straightening my hair, it doesn't always last long and goes either frizzy or makes my hair look dried up and look like I am wearing cheap hair extensions - both if I'm having an unlucky hair day! Luckily this product came in just in time for the party season, so when the party season arrived I thought I would give this product a go and see if it was really worth it. I bought the product in Superdrug for £5.99, but you can get this 10% cheaper if you are a student and hold a NUS card (as Superdrug will not accept university cards for discount) I was very surprised that this product was cheaper than I expected as L'Oreal products can be quite expensive, especially when they first arrive on the shelves. You can also buy this product from Boots, which is about the same price and various supermarkets such as Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco and ASDA. As L'Oreal tend to have offers on their products like three for the price or two or buy one get one half price. So that means you can buy one of these Elnett Sleek Heat protect spray for £5.99 and you could buy another for about £2.50! Even better, get three for £11! Not bad! When I looked at the bottle, which is nicely presented, especially with the gold bottle, as it is appealing to customers and eye-catching, it says it has 230 degree heat protection, which was good because when I straighten my hair, I use a temperature 230. But I was worried because of the heat and product together, it would damage my hair if I used it to often or had to use a lot of the product to get decent results. So my advice is, if you were to use this product to get the best results, is to use this product on damp hair, so not too wet, not too dry. Also don't use too much of the product at one time, otherwise the hair can look greasy rather than glossy. It usually takes me up to forty-five minutes to an hour to turn my natural hair to sleek, straight hair and I was amazed with the results, my hair looked amazing and looked like I had just got out of the hair salon's chair! My hair felt satin-like and had this gorgeous gloss. There was some slight frizz in my hair but it didn't seem to be that noticeable. I felt so attractive when I saw these results. Now, the question was will it still be salon-styled hair when I went out until three in the morning? and yes, coming home after the good night, my hair was still straight as a line. One of the last things the products hints out is that it has three day protection. Guess what? When I woke up the next morning, I still had straight hair! Which was amazing because before using this product my hair would normally go back to waves, so I had straight hair for the next two days! I will be using this product again in no time. So if you ever wanted a simple new hair style like straight hair, this heat protect spray is so worth it! There are two more styles : waves and volume. (I haven't tried these yet, but I'm pretty sure I will in the near future!) The cost is fantastic, so there's no more paying stupid amounts of money for a hairstyle at the hairdressers and more money for drinks! The product also really lasts too! Mine lasted nine months, so you don't need to use a huge amount to get decent results. I would recommend this to any girl out there and this product is needed in any girl's bathroom cabinet as it is perfect for party season or if you style your hair everyday! Like Cheryl said in the advert : Style just got hotter. L'Oreal was right!
My mum told me that this product was good so I decided to try it for myself. I am a slave to my straighteners and my hair suffers dryness and split ends as a result. I bought two bottles of this for £9 in Tesco and I gave one to my friend. The variety I chose was sleek as I like my hair straight. There are also another two varieties 'volume' and 'curls'. You get 170ml of the spray in a bottle. The bottle is a golden colour like the iconic hairspray and it has a plastic surround around it. The spray has a black pump action dispenser which has a little button you can depress to open or close the spray to prevent leaks. The spray claims to protect hair from heat damage up to 230 degrees and smooth hair while locking out frizz and humidity. The spray claims that it will keep your style for up to three days. You have to use this spray on damp hair and spray from 15cm away coating all of the hair the combing through. The bottle also states if you want more volume to spray on the roots and blow dry upside down. I have had varied experiences with heat protection sprays the majority are recommended for use on dry hair before straightening each section this has often left me with crispy hair in the past. I was looking forward to seeing if this spray gave better results. I sprayed a generous amount of this spray onto my damp hair, I have long hair. I found that the spray was light and coated my hair easily. I styled my hair as normal using a hair drier then my GHD's. I found that after using this my hair looked shiny and sleek. There were less flyaway's than normal and it didn't feel weighted down at all. I normally wash my hair every other day so I haven't tested the 3 day claim. I have noticed though that this product makes straightening easier, my hair since using this looks fairly straight after just a blow dry. Normally my hair is quite puffy and it has some waves which I hate. I have also noticed that it locks in my style even on days when it has been humid I have found that my hair stays straight and frizz free. I like this product and I have used it for a few months now. I have noticed that my hair looks in general in better condition and I don't have as many snapped pieces at the front from my straighteners. The only thing I have noticed about this spray is that I have noticed that it leave my marble bathroom tiles very slippery it also leaves little marks on them that can only be removed with a mop. A few times I have gone into the bathroom in socks and slipped on the floor, I now spray it in a different room. I
I am quite surprised again that nobody has reviewed this product yet as I thought it would have been rather popular with it been l'oreal. I first purchased the l'oreal elnett heat protection spray for sleek hair around 6 months ago. I wanted to try it as I had seen the advert on television with Cheryl Cole and her hair looked amazing so wanted to see if it was believable. I picked it up in the asda for £3.50 which let me tell you was a bargain and I haven't seen it for that price in any shop since!! I bought one last week from boots at £5.99 but only purchased it as I had some boots vouchers and it was buy one get on half price on all hair products. Otherwise I would have been very very reluctant to spend that much money even if it is the best heat spray I have come across. The bottle: The 170ml bottle looks very professional like products you would normally see been used in a hairdressers. It is gold with a black pump spray at the top. The bottle is large compared to most heat sprays so isn't really suitable to take away with you on holiday or a weekend away if your like me and just like travel sized bottles. It does come in different variety's such as straight or volume. Personal I use the straight one and can't comment on how good the other ones may be. The heat spray claims it has up 230 degrees protection which is great as my straighteners go up to 220. It also claims to lock out frizz and flyaways which is also something I get a lot of with my hair. It also says after using the effects will last and stay straight for 3 days which I was a bit sceptical about but it actually does! Using the heat spray: The first time I used it I didn;t use with my hairdryer as it recommends I just sectioned my hair as normal and spray on to each layer at a time. I held it about 15cm from my head and used around 3/4 sprays on each section. (I divide my hair into 3 sections when straightening) The heat spray has a really nice smell to it like most loreal products. It didn't feel sticky or heavy on my hair and after straightening my hair had hardly any frizz and looked really smooth. I generally straighten my hair everyday but after using this I didn't need to the second day and just had a quick run over my fringe and ends on the third day. It has also helped stop me damaging my hair from straightening it constantly. When using it again I did use it with my hair dryer as well and just used a couple of sprays when straightening. It has made a real difference to the look of my hair. Overall: I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who constantly uses heat appliances on their hair or people with frizzy flyaway hair. It does sound really expensive but a bottle does last me over 6 weeks - around 4 if you use it everyday. For me the lasting result of the heat spray out weigh the cost and it is a heat spray I will continue to use and will keep shopping around for to find a bargain price.
