For my birthday in April one of my friends got me quite a mix of things and one of the things she bought me was the L'Oreal Elvive extraordinary oil. I hadn't seen or heard of the product before to be honest but I was aware that oils for hair seemed to be popular and many brands were jumping on board.
The L'Oreal Elvive extraordinary oil is probably one that I would have looked at on the shelf if I were looking for a hair oil because I often use the Elvive shampoos and find them to be good quality produts for my hair generally. The extraordinary oil comes in a 100ml plastic bottle which is recyclable after use which is always good I think. The bottle doesn't look overly special but I like the golden bronzed colour with the red pump because I think they compliment each other well and it looks nice on my dressing table.
The bottle tells me that this is a precious blend of six flower extracts with a UV filter and that it is for coloured hair. Now I don't have coloured hair so I am not really qualified to say why it is intended for coloured hair but I think it is suitable for non coloured hair too in my opinion. We are also told that the product is quite versatile and also gives sumptuous softness and weightless touch. The claims of the product all seem really good and so I was looking forward to trying it but my hair can sometimes go a bit greasy and so I was a little wary about trying it in case it enhanced that.
There are various ways to use this oil and these are:
1) Rubbing two pumps of oil on to your hair before shampooing
2)Rubbing two pumps of oil on to your hair before styling
3)Using it as a finishing touch to add softness to your hair
I have used it both as a finishing touch and before shampooing so my review will focus on my experiences using the product in these ways. Firstly as a finishing touch I have found this is a great product for when I have just washed my hair and am going out on the town because once my freshly hair is washed, blow dried and then straightened it can become a bit full of static and just one or two drops rubbed on my hands and then ran across my hair really does help this. It smoothes it down and gives it a nice shine as well. I have actually only used the oil before shampooing once and I now plan on doing it before every hair wash because I was that impressed with the results. My hair needs cutting badly. Finances and the way Christmas is coming quickly have meant that I have been putting off getting it cut and the ends have been thick and quite difficult to manage. Last night though I thought I would give the oil a go and so I wet my hair in the bath and then ran a couple of pumps through the ends of my hair only as the roots are prone to greasiness as I mentioned earlier. I left it for a minute or two and then washed my hair as normal and then rinsed it out. When I blow dried and then straightened my hair I noticed that the ends felt a lot smoother than it has done recently and this was the same this morning when I woke to. They feel visibly softer and smoother as well and so I am made up with the results of the oil.
A bottle of this extraordinary oil costs £6.66 currently in Boots on a 1/3 off offer so its usual selling price is £9.99. Whilst this may seem a little expensive you literally need a couple of pumps at the most when you use it so it really will last a long time. It is suitable for use for eighteen months and I see no reason why my bottle won't last that long as it has been used plenty of times and is still almost full! I absolutely recommend this product.
Thank you for reading my review!
I am absolutely obsessed with oil! I love oil as a beauty product and for many years now have been using body oils to make my skin extremely soft and sexy so when I saw this new hair oil advertised by L'Oreal I knew I had to buy some and I'm definitely glad I did.
This Extraordinary oil from L'Oreal is described as a, "sublime hair enhancer with a versatile use that promises luminous colour and sumptuous softness with a weightless touch." It contains a precious blend of 6 flower extracts with nourishing properties for luminous colour and sumptuous softness.
I am going to start by saying that I absolutely love this product, you will probably be able to guess this from this review but I do, I love it. I have never been one of those women who is happy with their hair, who is, but I don't really like my hair although some days its ok but after using this I would go so far as to say that I actually really like my hair and it has been looking really nice recently.
In all my 30 plus years I have never used a product that has worked so well on my hair before like this one has, the transformation is just amazing and I don't really say that about too many hair products. My hair feels amazing, it looks amazing and I will continue to use this for a very long time. For a fairly inexpensive hair product this really does work and I would urge anyone to try it.
The oil comes in a glass bottle with a pump action at the top so it's very easy to pump the oil out. I have taken this oil on holiday with me and I had no issue with the glass bottle, it did not break at all and the oil didn't spill either which is nice. You can turn the pump nozzle to off so when you press it nothing comes out which is a good feature in my opinion and it works well. Then when you want to use it you simply turn the nozzle the other way and out pumps the oil.
The oil is fairly thin and it has quite a nice smell to it although it's not perfumed or anything like that. It smells to me a bit like a flower oil with the ingredients that it has and it's a nice smelling product to put in ones hair. After you have applied it though you cannot smell the oil and my hair definitely does not smell of chip fat!
Now, there are a number of ways you can use this oil making it very versatile which I love. On the back of the bottle it says to pump out two drops and apply it to your hair all the way through. Now, if my hair is dry and styled and I want to add a bit of sheen to my hair and smooth down some of the fly away ends this is exactly what I do. You only need the smallest amount of oil to add to dry hair as if you do add too much it does make your hair look greasy. However, two little drops will just hydrate it and give it a lovely sheen and will not make it greasy at all. What I also like is that the oil tends to make my hair go a little flatter as it's really big and this has seemed to thin out the bigness in a nice way.
My favourite way to sue it however is like a leave in treatment. THe night before I want to wash my hair I literally pump out a handful of oil and work it all through my hair, the roots, the ends etc and brush it through with a comb. My hair gets really greasy this way but who cares, no one is going to see it. Then I just leave it in overnight and wash it in the morning and it comes out amazingly. I do not need extra shampoo to take away the greasiness which is nice, I can just feel the softness of my hair coming through.
The best thing this oil has done to my hair is improve the softness. My hair feels amazing, really soft and silky but not soft and unmanageable. Often times soft hair will be quite flyaway and you will not be able to style it but this oil just gives me really soft hair that is still extremely manageable and lovely to touch. My hair looks amazing and you can really see it. Often my hair will look nice in the morning when I have first washed and styled it but then in the evening it starts to look a bit ratty but thanks to this oil it's looking good all day which is a really nice change for me.
Also, my colour is fading out a bit and it's almost time to get it done again. Usually in the past, before I was using this oil it would really look ready to be coloured again, the roots would be showing and it would look a bit greasy and washed out but this oil has completely changed that too. My blond colour is really vibrate and bright and the roots do not look that bad at all, I can get away with waiting a few more weeks before getting my hair coloured again which is great as this saves me not only time but money as well.
My hair looks smooth and in really good condition and in the beginning it only took a couple days of use to achieve this look. I'm so impressed that it has managed to keep it looking good too. Often, new hair products always work for the first couple of times and give you nice results but then your hair gets used to it and it's not affective as it first was but this oil continues to give stunning looks week and week after month!
My hair is so sexy and smooth and straight but it doesn't look limp or greasy like straightenend hair can be, I can now see how models achieve that poker straight smooth look with the help of hair oil. Who knows if they use this actually product but they should!
All in all I feel this oil really is a wonder product and would recommend it to anyone!
I picked up a 100ml bottle of L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Colour Protect from Boots some months ago as various people including my hairdresser had recommended using some form of hair oil to improve my hair's condition. I have rather fine hair which is neither straight nor curly and I've been trying to reduce the number of times I use straighteners on my hair trying to keep a natural look but finding the natural look without some form of product just makes my hair look frizzy!
So I purchased L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Colour Protect as I have highlights in my hair so chose the Colour Protect version as opposed to the other one (can't remember what that was called) and decided I would religiously use this over at least a few weeks to see if there was at least any discernible difference in my hair.
~WHAT IS IT?~
L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Colour Protect contains a precious blend of 6 flower extracts which contain nourishing properties to improve the look of coloured hair and make your hair softer.
The main features of this oil claim to:
* give hair a glowing shine
* make hair feel intensely nourished
* make hair flow with silky softness
* make hair seem sumptuously smooth, and
* make hair appear beautifully perfected
* stop hair from being flyaway
Depending on how regularly you use the oil, I believe all of the above claims are fully achievable.
The oil comes in a transparent orange coloured glass bottle with a plastic pump dispenser. I'm not entirely sure why the bottle has to be glass as this makes it quite heavy and maybe this is another factor in the price of this oil (which was £9.99 when I first bought it). Although it might seem pricey for 100ml bottle of oil, you only need to use a few drops and a bottle really does last a long time so I do feel this is a cost effective product.
The instructions on the back of the bottle advise you to dispense a couple of drops of the oil into the palms of your hands, rub them together and then rub into the length and ends of your hair. The instructions also advise to use before shampooing or before styling for extra protection for coloured hair or as a finishing touch after styling.
I've been using this oil now for several months and I have noticed the difference in the texture of my hair. It's much softer to the touch and actually looks better, shinier but not shiny in the way that greasy hair can look. My husband (who unlike many men) does notice these things and has commented on the change in my hair's overall condition and also comments on the pleasant scent of the oil (which I personally haven't noticed as it's a fairly subtle scent).
Overall I've been very pleased with the results of using this oil and will definitely be purchasing again once this bottle has been used up. As mentioned earlier, a little goes a long way and even though I've been using this oil regularly for about 4 months now, I have got through only one third of the bottle so far.
As with all hair care products, there's a warning on the bottle to avoid contact with eyes and to rinse eyes thoroughly should the product get into your eyes by accident.
~PRICE AND AVAILABILITY~
I'm happy to give L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Colour Protect a strong 5 out of 5 stars as there's nothing I can think of to say this is a less than perfect product for giving great results. My hair has never felt in better condition as it has since I started using this oil.
I'm happy to give L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Colour Protect a strong 5 out of 5 stars as there's nothing I can think of to say this is a less than perfect product for giving great results.

L'Oreal Group is one of the world's largest (if not the largest) beauty and cosmetics companies. It was found in 1909 and is a company whose products I've been happily using for over several decades. I actually used a L'Oreal model as inspiration for a painting I did for my GCE O level Art in the early to mid 80s.
To find out more about this particular L'Oreal product from the company itself you can check their website here: http://www.loreal-paris.co.uk/ haircare/elvive-extraordinary-oils/coloured-hair.aspx
One of the reasons I love reading so many magazines is I very often get a lot of free samples from them - mainly samples of things I wouldn't have tried or been attracted to buy for myself. One of these products was this L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil which I got 2 small sachets of recently. And to be honest even that didn't convince me to test it out - but as I gave one sachet to my mom and she kept raving about how good it was I thought it was worth using it once just to see. I have to say now I don't know how I ever went without using this oil on my hair! The results for me honestly are amazing and since that first time I've gone and brought the full sized bottle and have been using it ever since. I have no doubts that this will be part of my hair care routine for many years to come as I've never used a product quite so good for my hair.
Price: I believe I paid around £10 for a 100ml bottle of this oil. Prices do vary slightly so you might get a small saving if you shop around.
Stockists: Boots & Superdrug stores both stock this oil along with their websites.
Other Info: Promises to give your hair luminous colour & supreme softness while not weighing it down. Great for use on wet or dry hair & I believe there is a coloured hair and non coloured hair version of this oil (as I have bright red hair I obviously opted for the coloured hair variety).
This oil comes in a rather nice golden glass 100ml bottle with a red push down nozzle at the top - I actually really like the bottle it makes a difference from all the plastic hair products I have cluttering the bathroom! My only issue is that the nozzle doesn't have a lid on it which isn't usually a problem however when I wanted to take this on holiday with me I was worried about it leaking easily in my suitcase - I sadly had to leave it at home and use an inferior oil whilst away so I can't be sure whether it would have been totally secure or not. On the bottle is all the information you could need on the product - shelf life (18M), ingredients, directions for use etc. and there is an address and website printed on there should you have any other questions about it - nothing left unanswered for me though. Overall I like the bottle - it just made me sad that I couldn't use it on holiday when I seriously needed it with all the heat & humidity - next time I'll pour some into a different bottle!!
Oil Me Up!!
You can use this oil in 3 different ways so it is very versatile and all depends on what results your hoping for:
Before shampooing - when your hair is wet but before you've applied shampoo you can run this oil all through you hair & then wash out. This is supposed to help with protecting your colour.
Before styling - Again while your hair is still wet run a few drops of this all over from root to tip and then brush through. This is supposed to help protect your hair from heat appliances & tame your frizz.
After styling - This is a finishing touch and basically helps to smooth away any stray hairs and makes your hair extremely soft and glossy.
Whichever way you use this oil you only need 2 squirts from the bottle at the most - I have very long hair and most of the time 1 squirt is more than enough for me so less is certainly more. If you only use small amounts you will definitely get better results (as if you use too much your hair will get greasy very quickly & feel very heavy) & also the bottle will last you a VERY long time. I've had my bottle for at least 3 months now and I use it every time I wash my hair and I've hardly made a dent in my bottle - this is going to last me forever!
When using this just get 1-2 squirts onto your hands and rub evenly through from root to tip and then brush through to make sure everywhere is covered - that's the easiest way I've found and that works best for me.
I have used this oil in all the ways listed above and I have to say the latter 2 options work best for me. The first few times I used this before shampooing it did make my hair glossy but I don't think it made my colour last any longer, that could be because I didn't use it in that way enough though. However the other 2 ways of using this is why I like it so much ...
There are so many reasons why this oil works well for me and it does actually work for the exact reasons I use it. It definitely makes my hair look so much glossier - and does make the colour appear brighter when I use it before I style it. I've found that when using this on wet hair before drying it actually speeds up the drying time - I have long thick hair so even drying it with the hairdryer takes me a good 25mins, that is halved when I use this oil (I have no idea why it just seems to work that way on me). When my hair is dry the difference I think is shocking my hair looks so glossy and it actually helps with my split ends making them look pretty much non-existent and my hair to the touch is super soft. I've had so many comments from people at work asking what I use on my hair to make it look how it does and it is definitely all thanks to the miracle oil.
Using after styling helps as well - after I straighten my hair it does tend to get a little bit frizzy and have those annoying flyaway hairs floating about however I have a little tip to get rid of them for the day. Get a very small amount of this oil on your hand & roll an old blusher brush into it and then for want of a better description paint it onto the areas that just won't lie flat - trust me it works. It just helps keep a style in position and not a hair out of place all day so the results are definitely long lasting - they last until the next time I wash my hair and repeat the process.
It doesn't weigh down my hair at all like I've found when using oils in the past and when using it I don't need to wash my hair any more regularly than I usually would so it definitely doesn't make my hair any greasier long term either.
This is a lightweight and very versatile hair product and for me one that has become a part of my daily style routine. I highly recommend this to anyone out there with coloured hair or even just hair that needs a bit of a boost to go back to looking healthy and shiny. Worth every penny - and don't worry about the price because I assure you one bottle will last you a very long time!
Thanks For Reading.

I will admit that I am the sort of person who will try all sorts of new things, and am a marketing teams dream when the word 'New' is applied to products, especially when it comes to hair products. But, this does mean I am a good judge!
This oil really is extraordinary, whatever your hair issues are. I suffer from dry hair and constantly dying it sucks moisture out of hair even if it originally has really good condition. This oil is so versatile, I sometimes use it as a really intensive conditioner by applying it to dry hair before washing it which leaves it shiny and not at all greasy. It also adds a much richer dimension to my coloured hair. I tend to mainly use it straight after washing and before drying to give my hair an all over shine. I simply squirt 2-3 drops onto my hands, rub together and then smooth through my hair. As my hair is dry I smooth it right from roots to tips, but if your hair is oily then it would probably be advisable to leave the roots.
The product doesn't have to be used on all your hair if it's not needed. It's also great if you get whispy bits of hair that are hard to control, just smooth it on them and they are a lot easier to style. I find that if my hair needs a cut and the ends are a bit dry adding the oil can tide me over for a bit longer too!
The only warning is that if you have dry hair and don't wash it every day the product can make your hair a bit greasy if you use it on consecutive days. Also, be sparing with it, 2-4 drops really is enough. I use the product at least every couple of days and have thick hair so probably use about 4 drops at a time. I have had it for 3 months and used less than a fifth of the bottle. The bottle cost £9.99 so it's really economical, and much cheaper than Morrocan Oil alternatives. It also has a really nice, gentle smell.
I love trying out new hair products, I suffer from dry/damaged hair from years of colouring and styling products. I bought this recently from Superdrug, it normally retails for £9.99 but Superdrug had it on offer for £6.99 so I decided to give it a go. Despite the offer I still thought it was quite pricey, but this misconception soon disappeared!
The oil comes in a nice glass bottle with a pump action nozzle. To use it simply pump a drop onto your fingers, rub your hands together and then brush your fingers through to hair, making sure to get an even coverage. This is why I now see it as excellent value for money, as you only need to use a drop or two on your hair (i use this amount and I have long hair) it will last for hundreds of uses! You can apply it onto your hair when it is dry, which is what I do and I find its the best way to use it. You can also apply it before styling or to wet hair before shampooing - although I found this didnt seem to work as well.
After drying and styling my hair I normally apply this straight onto my dry hair which makes it feel lovely and soft and look really shiny. I was worried it might make my hair feel greasy or weighed down, but the oil is quite thin and light and just makes my hair feel soft. Its also great for calming down any frizzy or fly away bits of hair.
Overall I would definitely recommend this product, although it might seem quite expensive for the amount of uses you get from it its definitely worth the money! It leaves my hair feeling lovely, smooth and soft and gets rid of any frizz, making it super shiny - whilst at the same time not making it feel greasy or oily. I love it and I dont know what I would do without it - id probably still have dry and dull hair!
I always like to try out new hair products as I find my hair can be quite dry from a lot of styling. I have wanted to try Moroccan Oil for ages but it is quite expensive for what you get so when I saw this Extraordinary Oil by L'Oreal advertised on the TV, I was interested in giving it a go. The idea of this oil is that it is meant to improve the condition of hair, I am a bit unsure usually with products like this though because I feel that sometimes you just buy into a brand and it might not even work. This oil is not the cheapest product to buy but if you want to try it, you will have to pay for it, being by L'Oreal though I did have a positive outlook on it.
This oil comes in a tall clear orange tinted bottle which has the L'Oreal logo on the front of it and the Elvive lettering. This has some information on the front about what this aims to do and it holds 100ml in a bottle. The packaging looks rich and it stands out right away on the shelf, it has a pump lid at the top which is red and on the reverse it has instructions on how to use this oil and a list of ingredients too. The packaging looks expensive and it works for the product, being clear you can see how much of the oil is left which is useful. It is easy to hold this bottle and to pump out the oil, 100ml should last you a good amount of time.
ELVIVE EXTRAORDINARY OIL
This oil aims to make hair softer and gives a weightless touch. It has a warning before using which is in case of contact with eyes, rinse them immediately, other than this there are no more warnings. This oil is suitable for all hair types and enhances hair as well as giving it more shine, it is made up of six flower extracts to help nourish hair and give it a soft and shiny look. Now, upon reading this I wasn't too sure if I was convinced that it would make any difference to my hair as you don't need much. I pumped out some onto my palms and it is a lightweight clear oil of a runny consistency which is easy to rub and apply to the hair.
It recommends that you need two precious drops of this oil and then you need to apply evenly through hair to the ends of either wet or dry hair. There are a number of ways this oil can be used, you can use it before shampooing, before styling to protect or as a finishing touch and as a masque for conditioning. Now, by looking at all of these options, I had decided that I'd like to put it onto my hair before shampooing, now the oil just drops on but two drops doesn't seem like much at all and in the palms of my hand I rubbed it through the hair. I have long hair so felt this didn't really go far at all and I even put on a tiny bit more but still didn't feel like it covered much.
This oil is quite greasy to touch and it does keep hands greasy which is not the nicest feeling ever. I kept it on my hair and it has a lovely smell quite sweet but perfumed at the same time, it is very nice on hair. So, once I had put this on my hair I did my shampoo and everything else and got on with my hair washing routine. I did think that this didn't require much and even being quite runny it still didn't seem like I got far with it. I dried my hair and have continued to use it quite a lot of times and I have to be honest, I really haven't noticed any difference to my hair at all which is disappointing, it seems the same as it always did, no difference.
I am usually impressed with L'Oreal as I use Elvive shampoo and conditioner but to me this is very overpriced for what it is. I have used this for a while now and in different ways and find it quite greasy to use as well as the fact it doesn't actually make any difference to my hair. I haven't found it to be softer nor shinier and it certainly hasn't made my hair look luxurious. I don't think I'd buy this again and maybe I'd save up for Moroccan Oil as to me this just doesn't work. I don't know if other people have had luck with this but to me it was not good to use and for the price paid I expected some form of result and sadly ended up with nothing.
Now, if you still want to take a risk and buy this then you can buy it in supermarkets and places like Boots and Superdrug. Tesco are selling the 100ml bottle for £9.99 at the moment.
The official Elvive website is http://www.loreal-paris.co.uk/.
After a bad hair accident involving hair bleach around 18 months ago, and still regually bleaching my hair every 4-6 weeks the condition is not the greatest and I do suffer badly from split ends, dryness and lack of shine. I'm always on the look out for great protection products to use on it and I am yet to find the perfect product to use... but it doesnt mean I dont have fun testing new products in the meantime! I am forever applying for freebies from the big manufacturers and last week I was happy to see a sample 3.5ml sachet of this L'Oreal Extraordinary oil lying on my doormat when I got home from work and couldnt wait to try it.
Generally I dont have the greatest experiances in the world when it comes to oil based hair products - the worst one I have tried was V05 Hot Oil which for some reason a lot of other people have plenty of praise for... it didnt do much for me but with that in mind due to the damage in my hair I need to use really great products to see a result. I thought this Loreal oil would be similar in the sense that you lather it into your hair and wash off after shampoo and conditioning... but reading the information provided I was pleasantly surprised to see it has multiple uses. These uses include:
* Before shampoo (for a nourished feel)
* As a masque (if you wanted to use as a conditioning treatment)
* Before styling (hairdryer/straightners/curler to protect hair from the heat)
* As a finishing touch (for soft feel and shine)
For each option there is no need to wash out the oil unless you apply before shampooing it claims the oil is perfectly safe to do this.
The product claims to do five things with use which include:
* Glowing shine
* Feels nourished
* Silky soft touch
* Sumptuously smooth
* Looks perfected
Due to the poor condition of my hair the best treatment I can do in my experiances is the second option - to leave it in as a condioning treatment. Over the weekend I washed and conditioned my hair as normal but instead of drying I poured the full sample on to my head and brushed it in down to the tips. I did attempt to lather it in using my hands but as an oil it was quite greasy and uncomfortable to touch and I had to wash my hands straight after this for the fear of touching and staining items in my house. After this instead of using the hairdryer and straighteners I left the oil in my hair to dry naturally. My hair takes quite a while to dry anyway and in my opinion the oil didnt slow down the drying process which is great for me! Once the oil had dried I couldnt tell the difference in terms of condition in my hair as its quite thick and fly away naturally but the first thing I noticed was the scent which the oil had left behind. The scent instantly reminded me of a handwash I have from M&S which is flower scented - in my opinion it was quite sweet and pleasant... and the type of smell that you would notice if someone walked past you in the street with this on their locks. Its a very clean and fresh scent... The smell is my favourite thing about this product. When you look at the ingredients sure enough, there is plenty of flower ingredients there which include chamomilla recutita extract matricaria flower extract and even coconut oil - which is a great product to use in hair repair products. The second thing I then noticed was once straightening my hair the next day I used a little bit of hair protection spray (less than normal) and I did notice a huge difference in terms of condition and healthy shine and I just couldnt stop touching it! In my opinion it really made a difference to my hair with heat protection and I'm just a little bit gutted that my sample was so small so I couldnt try it out for the other uses!
So, out of the five things Loreal claims this oil will do for you it ticks 4/5 of my boxes - obviously it doesnt make my hair look protected but there isnt any such thing as a miracle product like that unless you are willing to cut off all your damaged hair but people with normal / undamaged hair types I believe will genuinelly love this product. I for one was very surprised with the results after one tiny sample use considering my previous poor experiance with oil treatments. I genuinelly believe I will be buying the full size version of this product very soon, for me for the four different uses you get out of the one product in the long run it would save me a lot of money than having to buy four different hair treatments and I can't wait to try the other methods now that I have used it as a conditioning treatment.
In terms of what I dont like about this product the only thing I hated was the greasiness of the application but you can avoid this by pouring on your head and brushing it through everything else I absolutely loved.
At the time of writing you can request the sample from L'oreal like I did so you can see if the product works for you before you buy, and if you do decide to go ahead and buy it is available from Boots for £9.99 which is worth every penny in my opinion.
L'Oreal have made a product called Extraordinary Oil. This product is supposed to make your hair feel soft and sumptuous as well as nourishing. So does it?
This product comes in a transparent light brownish glass bottle with a red pump lid. It's a very basic but sleek bottle. On the front they have a sticker explaining what the product is and on the back displays the ingredients and how to use.
Touch: the feel of this liquid is amazing, it's like a very runny oil feel. When you do rub it through your fingers, the oil glides effortlessly.
Smell: the smell is like a perfume! It's a beautiful scent. It does have a floral smell to it, the only way I know how to describe it is like an expensive perfume.
See: it does not really have a colour too it, but it is amazingly shiny.
When to apply...
You can choose when you want to apply this product. You can apply it,
When your hair is wet before you shampoo,
Apply it before you hair dry your hair,
When you have finished styling your hair.
How to apply....
Rub 2 drops of oil into your palms, I prefer to put it on my fingertips.
Rub through the tips of your hair.
And your done!
6 flower extract blend.
There are more ingredients but these were the only ones I could understand reading from the back of the bottle.
You can buy this online or in stores like Boots. Not sure if they sell it anywhere else but I know for a fact Boots sell this product.
I bought this when it first came out and it was on offer for £6.00 but the prices range from £9.99 in stores. I know you can buy it cheaper online. If you were to buy this from Boots you will also get 999 bonus points on your card, so at least you get something back.
I bought this in April 2012 after I had got a bonus on my wage. I went home and washed my hair. I have to admit, I prefer using this oil after I have styled my hair. When I had styled my hair I applied the product. I needed to add a few more drops as I have long hair. My hair took straight to it and soaked it in. I am well and truly amazed by this product, I have always had a bad time with split dull ends, but this oil does not make my hair ratty or dried out. The best part is that I still have 3/4 of the bottle left. I just hope the 18 month shelf life last a bit longer!
There is no bigger advantage than this product actually working, every time I put it on I feel like I have just walked out of a salon.
The smell is utterly delicious.
I love the bottle too, it look very salon style and chic.
I would of said the price but it has lasted me 11 months already. So I can't really say the price for the amount you get.
All round great product that actually works, I believe with this product you defiantly get more for your money.
Would I recommend?
Without a doubt, this would make anyone's hair look beautiful.
After damaging my hair at the beginning of the year by bleaching it to strip a dark a colour a bit too much I have ever since been treating my hair a lot more with intensive treatments and heat protection products etc to help get it slowly, back to normal.
I love L'oreal elvive hair products as I find they and my hair are well suited with little problems so when I seen L'oreals new extraordinary oil being advertised so proudly on adverts on the tele and then noticing it in Boots too I decided to treat myself to a bottle. There are 2 types to buy - the one for all hair types and the oil for coloured hair and I purchased the one for coloured hair.
The 100ml glass golden orange bottle with a burgundy pump dispenser lid costs £9.99 - so quite pricey really. You can see the transparent liquid within the glass bottle which is as thin as water. The front of the bottle tells me it's for coloured hair and it contains a precious blend of 6 flower extracts and UV Filter.
The back of the bottle explains that the blend of 6 flower extracts contain nourishing properties for luminous colour and sumptuous softness - exactly what I needed for my overworked hair.
Directions of use are also provided on the back - you have to rub 2 precious drops between the palms of your hands and apply evenly through the lengths and ends of wet or dry hair. You can use it before shampoo for extra colour protection, before styling to protect and transform your hair and as a finishing touch for sumptuous softness and luminous colour. All of this is explained on the bottle.
I had high hopes for this 'extraordinary oil' but in my opinion it is nothing 'extraordinary' at all, in fact I was sorely disapointed.
Dispensing the oil into my hands I quickly noticed how greasy it felt and the greasyness remains on my hands until I've washed it off thoroughly with soap - this is something I don't like to do whist styling my hair etc as I feel then the water and soapy products are then deposited onto my hair which ruins my styling - yes I am a fusspot but this oil didn't help. Although I knew this was an oil product I wasn't expecting it to feel so greasy and thick on my hands whilst using it, especially for the price paid and the brand which I have had no problems with before. Also when styling my hair I like to feel like I have control when using a product on my hair however I found I could smooth this over strands of my hair and still felt the uncomfortable greasyness on my hands whilst trying to do something else, therefore I felt I was still depositing some of the oil onto other parts of my hair I didn't really want to apply it too, such as the roots - as this is where your hair doesn't really need product at all as it's such 'fresh' hair.
The oil smells quite nice, just like a gentle shampoo sort of, but that uncomfortable feeling of greasyness and lack of control with my hair product made me feel uneasy and for this reason I wouldn't reccomend this product unfortunately.
Despite my lack of control using the oil and the fact I really didn't get on with it I still used it a few times to see if it actually made a difference to my hair and I can't really say it made much difference to my hair either really. I don't feel it left my hair feeling that soft and didn't create any 'special' look either, whereas some other products I've used I find help in making my hair feel more manageable, make it look shinier and generally feel quite healthy. So unfortunately in my opinion, this is one poor product from L'oreal!
