Advantages: Smells gorgeous and offers superb results
Disadvantages: None for me
I cannot admit to being loyal to any brand or shampoo or conditioner as I tend to alternate my purchases dependent upon whatever is on offer at any given time where I choose products suitable for my normal hair type where I am prone to suffering with dry ends. I've always been considerably impressed with L'Oreal hair products and after reading a number of positive reviews on their newly launched Elvive Nutri-Gloss range, I decided to make a purchase and this review discusses my experience with using the shampoo.
The pink coloured opaque plastic bottle is very feminine in appearance and accentuates the contents with its tiny eye-catching silver sparkles, which according to the information on the reverse of the bottle are Micro-Crystals. L'Oreal claims that the sparkling formula will illuminate and smooth the surface of the hair and as a result, enable improved light reflection and crystal shine. However, had I not previously read positive reviews about this product I would probably have not given it a second glance solely due to the glitter, which I would have anticipated to make a mess in my hair as well as the base of my shower.
I favour the colour blue that L'Oreal have used on the upper section of the easy to open flip top lid, as it co-ordinates with the subtle touches of blue that have been used on the front of the bottle. A sufficient amount of good consistency shampoo is dispensed and I was surprised to witness its clear sparkling colour as opposed to pink, which was what I had been expecting. I was most impressed with the delightful aroma that greeted me, which I would describe as floral with citrus tones and whilst I am not a fan of overpowering floral fragrances, L'Oreal have managed to create the perfect scent.
I find that only a small amount is needed to effectively work through my hair where a plentiful lather is created and I favour the fact that the gorgeous aroma considerably intensifies. The shampoo is highly effective at cleansing my hair whilst removing all traces of dirt and grime as well as any residue of hair products and I favour the fact that I do not need to use a second application. The product is easily rinsed away without leaving any traces of residue or stickiness and I was relieved to discover that the sparkles had vanished, so there was no messy shower base to clean.
I would have to agree with L'Oreal's claim that my hair feels velvety soft after using, which is due to the shampoo containing a weightless formula, which apparently, quenches the hair fibres with moisture. Some brands of shampoo, particularly cheaper ones, can often leave my hair feeling dry and lifeless, but this product was the exact opposite, as it offers a high level of moisturisation to my pride and joy.
It is impossible for me to omit using conditioning products, particularly as my hair is long, thick and curly, as otherwise I would end up with a tangled mess. Consequently, I have been using the matching conditioner to obtain maximum effects from this new formula, which I believe is unique to L'Oreal. However, prior to applying the conditioner I was able to witness the beautiful scent in my hair as well as the healthy shine. Despite my hair offering a soft texture I cannot advise that it was fluffy, which has been the case with some products. I love the fact that the gorgeous aroma lingers for a good while afterwards and for all of the reasons discussed above, I have to admit that this is probably the best shampoo that I've ever used.
The shampoo should be used within 12 months of opening with the bottle being recyclable once empty. L'Oreal Nutri-Gloss Crystal Sparkling Shampoo is available in 400 ml bottles and my last purchase was from Tesco for £3.79.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
