I bought this shampoo as my hair had been looking a little dull of late. This is probably due to the fact that I colour my hair and subject it to lots of heat. I was looking for a shampoo and conditioner that would add a bit of shine back into my hair without breaking the bank. On this note, this shampoo certainly did work.
It did leave my hair shiny and when used with the conditioner very soft and sleek, however I found I had to wash my hair more often with this shampoo as it did tend to make my hair greasy. I wouldn't have minded this if it weren't for the fact that it was labelled as a "light" product and was aimed a people with greasy hair. Unlike many rich shampoos it did not leave my hair flat but did make it considerably greasier than other shampoos.
Even though I'm not over the moon with this product and don't use it on a daily basis, I do like to use it if I'm going on a night out because it leaves my hair lovely and shiny, which looks better than dull, lifeless hair in photographs.
I would recommend this to people with normal or dry hair but definitely not for those with fine, greasy hair like me. The search for my holy grail shampoo continues ...
I am not at all loyal to any brand when it comes to buying shampoo, the cheapest or any on offer will get put into my basket as I'm not really bothered about which one I buy. I have fine hair that needs washing every two days to look good, so as long as the shampoo is for that type of hair it will get put in my basket if it's at a cheaper price than any of the others in the supermarket.
I often go to the Savers shops in town too which helps to save a few pennies and got this bottle of L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Pearl Protein Shampoo for £2 there, for a 250ml bottle.
The bottle is a nice girly pink but can be used by men as it's for bringing back the shine in hair that gets tangled easy, as mine is fine hair this worked really well for me and stopped it looking like it was fly away hair when I had dried it.
To use the shampoo you only need a little as it lathers up really nice and the creamy shampoo is a nice thick consistancy, if you use a pea sized drop on your hand and apply it to the scalp you can massage it in and it will lather up quickly and clean the hair good.
Once you have used the shampoo and lathered it up then rince and apply again, you can feel the thick lather on the hair and the hair feels clean and smooth as your washing it, there seems to be an added volume to the hair after use as mine is fine this looks good for me as it thickens up the hair and I was happy with the shine it left my hair with.
The scent of the shampoo is kind of floral not to over powering but does linger on the hair after use. Combing the hair once it has been washed was easier for me as I towel dry my hair to help stop it from looking fly away which gets worse when I use a hair dryer.
Towel drying and then combing it through helped to straighten the hair and I noticed there wasn't as much tangle to the hair once I had shampo'ed it.
I'm very happy with the results of this shampoo and will buy it again if it's still on offer in the shops although something else will probably catch my eye as I like to swap and change shampoo brands.
I'd recommend this to you if you have fine hair that tangles eaasy as it will help smooth and leaves it looking shiny and in good condition.
My hair can be quite strange and will often start reacting badly to a shampoo once I have been using it at every hair wash for a little while and so I am often looking for new products to try on my hair. A few months ago I was in Boot's shopping when I saw a promotion on L'Oreal Elvive nutria-gloss shampoo which I think was selling for half price at the time and so I decided to give it a go.
L'Oreal Elvive was a brand I regularly used as a teenager and so it was a brand that I trusted and is obviously well established as well. I will admit that above everything else what drew me to this particular product was the bright pink bottle! I am quite girly and love pink things so it immediately caught my eye on the shelf! The bottle is made from a plastic which is recyclable once empty and which holds 250ml of the shampoo. The bottle does look quite busy I think with its design as there is a lot of information on the bottle but not so much that it would put you off purchasing I don't think.
What really grabbed my attention when I took a closer look at the bottle was the fact that it says that it is best suited to those with mid to long, dull hair which is prone to greasiness. My hair is probably slightly longer than shoulder length and does seem to get quite greasy these days and so it seemed like this would be a perfect product for my hair. The promise that the shampoo would give mirror shine and a weightless feel with their new formula also sounded very promising.
The bottle is easy to hold in either the bath or the shower and the green lid flips up easily to allow you to squeeze some shampoo out. The actual shampoo is a pale pink colour and is of a standard consistency. What hits me when I squeeze the shampoo on to my hand is the gorgeous scent which comes from the product. It is a very fresh, sweet and girly scent which in my opinion perfectly matches the pink packaging!
As I do have quite long hair I use a blob of shampoo around the size of a fifty pence piece to lather on to my wet hair. I find the shampoo produces a good amount of lather on my hair and I really feel like my hair is getting a good wash as I do it.
My hair feels very soft after I have used this shampoo and then blow dried and straightened it. I would go as far as to say that besides going to the hairdressers my hair looks its best after being washed with this shampoo. I do find that my hair is currently misbehaving and so I am not getting quite as good results as I first did but that is the norm with my hair anyway and as long as I use something else for a little while I will be able to go back to this one.
The claim that this shampoo makes your hair shine is certainly true I feel. My hair really does look very shiny after I have used this product and it also feels super soft too and I think it looks perfect for a night out when I am more likely to wear my hair down.
You can pick up this shampoo for around £2.50 for the 250ml bottle or £3.69 for the larger 400ml bottle. It can sometimes be found on offer. I think it is a very good product for the price which smells great and gives very good results and so I give it my recommendation.
Thank you for reading my review!
I started it use about three months ago so as my flat mate. It worked very well on our hair, it become smooth and nice however after few months later my hair started to comes off a lot during taking shower and combing hair.We both has the same problem until now after stop using it about a month. It might not apply to all of you, but i would not recommeded to anyone, absolutelly terrible product!
This is not a shampoo I would normally have gone for but I spotted it on a better than half price offer in Morrisons when I was looking for a new shampoo so I thought I'd give it a go. I paid less than £2 for a 400ml bottle on the offer, but it's usual price is £3.79.
It comes in a pink bottle which is hard to miss on the shelves. It has a lime green plastic flip-top lid which make it much more convenient to use. The only slight negative I could point out about the packaging is that because the bottle is so big it can be a bit difficult to handle, particularly when your hands are wet.
The shampoo is quite runny but not so much that it runs through your fingers. It's a pearly white colour and has a really fresh, clean citrus scent which is really refreshing in the morning. It lathers up nicely and only a small amount is needed to massage through the whole length of my hair.
After washing with this my hair and scalp feel really fresh and clean, and my hair feels really smooth. My hair is really fine and very prone to greasiness and I do find that this leaves it feeling fresher for much longer than most shampoos which is a massive plus point. On the other hand it sometimes leaves it quite static and flyaway so I have to use a good conditioner and sometimes other products to counteract this. I haven't noticed any extra shine since using it but my hair is naturally shiny anyway.
It did seem to leave my hair feeling a little dry after regular use, but this was easily solved by using a decent conditioner along with it and an intensive conditioner once a week, both things I should really be doing anyway.
Overall I quite like this shampoo and I'd definitely recommend it if you have hair prone to greasiness as it does leave it feeling fresher for longer.
I've only been using this Shampoo and Conditioner for a couple of weeks now but I am pleased with how it is working on my Hair. I find that L'Oreal Elvive products work well on my Hair and I usually use the one for Highlighted Hair but when I went into my local Asda to buy some Conditioner there was none of the other brand in stock, so I saw that this brand was on offer so I thought I would try this one.
This was selling for £2.60 or 2 for £4 so I bought the Shampoo and matching Conditioner. The bottle size is 250ml. Not sure if you get it in larger bottles but this is the only one available in my local Asda.
The bottle looks nice enough. A nice pink colour. This has a flip top lid and although it doesn't stand on it's end, you can pop this on it's end and it will stand fine so you should get all the drips out of this.
There was the Nutri-Gloss and the Nutri-Gloss light Shampoo, but what is the difference between the 2 of them? They are both for medium-long Hair and for Dull Hair so I assume that they are meant to add some sparkle to you Hair. The light one is for Hair that is prone to Greasiness, which is mine. I guess since this is Light, then it isn't all that Heavy on your Hair.
The scent of this I wasn't overly taken with. It was a pretty heavy floral kind of scent, but once your Hair is washed then the scent is just a nice scent and not all that bad to be honest.
This Shampoo is quite thick. It is a Cream Shampoo and a decent sized blob of this lathers up fell and rinses off easy enough.
How do I find that this works on my Hair? I find that this works well. My Hair feels nice and soft and there is a glossy shine on my Hair and my Hair feels like it has been Conditioned deep down. This seems to keep the Greasiness away alright and I just find that this is ideal for my Hair type.
A great Shampoo which makes my Hair look and feel great.
When it comes to buying Shampoo and Conditioner I usually go for ones suitable for coloured hair to keep my highlights looking bright for as long as possible, however when it gets close to when I am due to get my hair done I do tend to just buy whatever is on offer at the time. I recently ran out of my regular shampoo for coloured hair and as I am getting it re-coloured in a couple of weeks I decided to get whatever was on offer at the time. I was drawn to L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Shampoo, mainly due to the pearly pink bottle it came in. This shampoo is for mid to long hair which mine is, it is described as being ideal for dull hair, my hair isn't particularly dull but as my highlights are getting a bit old now they do need a bit of brightening up so I thought this might help.
The Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Shampoo comes in a pale pink plastic bottle with a clear pearly effect label stuck to the front, the name L'Oreal Elvive is written right at the top of the label with the words "Nutri-Gloss" written in a darker shiny pink box. There is a large pink and silver square at the bottom of the label this has "protein and pearl" written inside it and "Mirror shine Cashmere Touch" written just beneath it. On the back of the bottle is a second clear label with all of the product information written on it in pink and black, this contains information such as a bit about long hair, the effects the shampoo will have on your hair, directions for use and cautions. All of the information is written clearly and in a way that is easy to follow. The bottle has a transparent pink flip lid, this is easy to open and close even when your hands are wet, the shape of the bottle also makes the bottle easy to grip with wet hands.
The Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Shampoo is a lovely pale pink colour inside the bottle, it is of a reasonably thick consistency. The fragrance of this shampoo is a little hard to describe, it does have a bit of a fruity hint to it mixed with a slightly sweet fragrance. When I first smelt the shampoo inside the bottle I thought it had a bit of a sickly sweet fragrance which I wasn't going to particularly like, but I thought I would give it a chance. I squeezed the shampoo into my hands, as I have very thick hair I need to use quite a bit of shampoo, but I would say that I could get away with a little less with this particular one. I rubbed it into my hair and was pleased at how well it lathered up, it did loose its pink colour once it formed a lather, however this didn't really matter. I noticed that as I was using the shampoo whilst the sweet fruity fragrance was there it was no where near as sickly sweet and was very pleasant. The shampoo rinsed easily and quickly from my hair, again this is important for me due to the thickness of my hair, I hate shampoos that take me ages to rinse out. Once fully rinsed out and conditioned I dried and styled my hair in the usual way. The fragrance of the shampoo lingered on my hair for quite some time afterwards and it smelt lovely and fresh. The shampoo left my hair feeling extremely clean and fresh and even though my highlights do need refreshing my hair had a lovely shine to it as stated on the bottle.
On the back of the bottle there is a short description of what the 2 aspects of the shampoo are ("Mirror Shine" and Cashmere Touch")
*Mirror Shine - This shampoo is said to be enriched with pearl which helps to illuminate and smooth the hairs surface allowing better light reflection reacting a shine
*Cashmere Touch - This shampoo is concentrated with protein which helps to nourish the hair fibre, this gives a glossy finish leaving your hair soft from root to tip
I felt that after reading this description the shampoo was definitely the right one for me, my hair is bleached and also straightened every day so it does need a bit of help to keep it in good condition having a shampoo which leaves my hair shiny and soft is just what I need so I was hope that it was going to live up to these promises.
Directions for Use
The directions on the back of the bottle are very simple and state that you apply the Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Shampoo to wet hair, lather and rinse. This is quite self explanatory and exactly how I use this shampoo every time.
Again these are standard for this type of product and state that should this product come into contact with your eyes then you should rinse immediately. This is something I am always doing with shampoo and whilst it does sting for a while and it does make your eyes water, I haven't had any more serious effects from it.
Price & Availability
I brought my L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Shampoo from my local Tesco, however this product is available in most supermarkets as well so a variety of other shops including Boots and Superdrug. The price depends on where you purchase it from, however from Tesco I brought my 400ml bottle for just £1.89, it should have been £3.79 at full price. When I brought it it was a bargain, however even when full price I wouldn't say it was particularly expensive, it is of an average price for this type of product. In my opinion it is worth the money as it is an excellent quality shampoo and is quite long lasting. I usually go through my shampoos and conditioners quickly as I do need a lot to get through my hair, however with this particular one I can get away with a little bit less meaning it is lasting a bit longer than normal.
I have been very impressed so far with L'Oreal elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Shampoo, despite my uncertainties about the fragrance to start with I do now really like the smell of this shampoo, it leaves your hair smelling clean and fresh and the sickly sweetness does disappear once you apply it to your hair. After using the shampoo my hair felt very clean and as the bottle promised it did have a nice shine to it which at the moment is ideal for me especially as I need my highlights re-doing. The shampoo is averagely priced. This in my opinion is a shampoo suitable for the whole family despite the girly pink bottle it comes in, even my husband is happy to use this, he hasn't commented on whether it makes his hair shine or not but then that's a man thing. I would definitely recommend L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine Shampoo, in my opinion it really does do what it says on the bottle and it leaves my hair in excellent condition, after using the Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shine shampoo my hair definitely has more of a shine to it and feels very soft, This is definitely a shampoo I would recommend to anyone especially if you are looking for a shampoo to brighten up your hair, this one really works.
I have never been much of a fan of L'Oreal's shampoo or conditioning products as everytime I tried one I would be left disappointed with the results. So when a friend of mine recommended L'Oreal's Elvive Nutri-Gloss range, I was unconvinced by her claims that it was really good. To prove her point she gave me a sample-sized bottle to try of one of the shampoo products in this range - Nutri-Gloss Pearl Protein. To my surprise I really liked it and bought a bottle after being pleased with the results on my hair.
I had spotted this 'Elvive Nutri-Gloss Light Shine Shampoo' sitting on the shelves in shops alongside the Pearl Protein Shampoo and after noticing they were on offer recently in Morrisons on a two x 250ml bottles for £3 offer, I decided I would try it.
L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Light Shine Shampoo comes in the same girly pink bottle as the pearl protein product and whilst I am personally not a fan of anything pink, the colour does ensure it stands out on the shelves.
This shampoo is suitable for mid to long hair that gets greasy. I have long hair that can become greasy at the roots but dry at the ends, so I thought this light formula may be suitable. It has been developed to revive your hair's shine when your hair has a tendency to turn greasy quickly and become dull and flat.
The formula contains Citrus and Pearl as its active elements. Citrus is known to have purifying properties and Pearl gives the shine. Therefore the combination of the two should free your hair from impurities whilst cleansing. The light formula ensures your hair does not feel overloaded with product.
~~ Mirror shine, cashmere touch? ~~
L'Oreal state you will achieve mirror shine, cashmere touch but even lighter, when using this shampoo and I was keen to put it to the test and see if I liked this as much as the Pearl Protein shampoo.
One of the things I liked about the Pearl Protein shampoo was its fragrance. I used to love the smell of Clairol's old Herbal Essences range before they changed it and on first smelling the Pearl Protein shampoo I was reminded of that range and love the smell. Therefore I was just as pleased when on smelling this Nutri-Gloss Light shampoo I realised it has a very similar, if not the same fragrance as Pearl Protein. It is a fragrance which is difficult to describe - slightly fruity and slightly floral, but the best I can say is that it will remind you of products in the Herbal Essences range if you remember them. It has a really lovely fragrance which is quite unique and I like the fact I can smell it on my hair a long time after washing it.
The texture of this shampoo is creamy but appears lighter and slightly runnier than the other shampoo. It lathers really quickly and also feels quite luxurious as you massage this into your hair. It certainly seems to have good moisturising properties without feeling heavy.
I also like the feel of my hair after rinsing out the shampoo. My hair feels clean and moisturised and there is no residue left behind. I like to team this with the matching conditioner, but I have also used it with another favourite conditioner of mine and it works just as well. My hair is tangle-free and feels soft and smooth from root to tip.
After drying my hair it still feels really soft and doesn't look dull at all, leaving behind a nice subtle shine which tends to reflect the light. The ends of my hair which can be prone to dryness also feel moisturised and silky. I have a natural curl to my hair which can become frizzy if I don't use the right products and there is no evidence of frizz when I use this shampoo.
For hair that feels soft and moisturised without feeling heavy, I can recommend this shampoo and having used it for a while, it has became one of my favourites. I prefer this light formula rather than the Pearl Protein formula as this seems just right for my hair type. After trying and being left disappointed by other shampoos by L'Oreal, I can happily state that this one is just right for me and has became one I will be buying regularly from now on.
Product: L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-gloss Shampoo Light
I've been using L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-gloss Shampoo for quite a few years now and it's always been the Shampoo which I go back to using time and time again. The Shampoo is designed to be used on fine to normal hair, my hair is quite thick but it works equally as good with my hair type.
Using the Shampoo is simple, I wet my hair, put a small amount of shampoo, around the same size of a 50p piece into my hands then lather it into my hair, rinse it all out and then repeat the process with a conditioner.
Loreal Elvive comes packaged in a large pink squeezy bottle with the L'Oreal label/logo embedded at the front of the bottle and another label at the back stating all the regular information, how to use, which ingredients it contains etc.
When squeezing the product into my hand, the first thing you notice is it's pale pink colour with a slight sheen to it, it's a creamy consistency and also feels really light upon my skin. The Shampoo lathers up really, really well which I felt gave a full coverage on all of my hair whilst still staying thick and foamy, not only that it smells absolutely amazing too. It rinsed off quickly and efficiently, leaving my hair feeling light, clean, fresh and shiny whilst smelling gorgeously.
Once dried my hair instantly felt as if it had been given a thorough clean and extremely light to the touch. I wash my hair around 3-4 times per week and it always stays fresh inbetween washes. A 400ml bottle always lasts me at least a few months or so.
My hairdresser always comments that my hair is in fab condition so I must be doing something right.
Definitely a Shampoo which i'll continue to use, there's always a bottle in my bathroom cabinet, love it and I can totally 100% recommend it.
Also look out for any special offers, in Boots these can normally to be found on offer i.e. two bottles for the price of one, remember to use your Boots Advantage Card for points too.

I like to experiment with a wide range of shampoos, and although I am a huge fan of Lush's Big Shampoo, I can not afford to keep spending £10 odd a time. After a trip to the supermarket, I picked up this shampoo which is L'Oreal's Elvive Nutri-Gloss Shampoo Light.
It comes in an attractive pink container, and you get 400ml of product, which is infact quite a large amount. It retails at £3.59 which is a fair price for a good brand and the amount of shampoo you are getting.
To use this, you simply have to open the cap at the top and squeeze out the shampoo (I would recommend around the size of a 10p piece). The liquid itself is white pink in colour and smells similar to all of the other L'Oreal shampoos. It is not a particularly pleasant smell, and if you are into fruity shampoos this one may not be for you.
When applying to my hair, it did lather up very well and I was impressed as I was able to get right into my roots and make sure all of my hair was clean. It also rinsed off easily and effectively, and my hair felt much cleaner and healthier even when wet.
This shampoo is recommended for people who have long, fine hair that turns greasy quickly or becomes dull and flat, losing its shine and energy. I often found that my hair does turn dull and flat easily, therefore I wanted a shampoo that could help to bring it to life and look much healthier with a shine to it. As this shampoo contains pearl proteins and citrus, they are supposedly meant to combine together to bring shine to your hair.
I did find this an effective shampoo in use, but the real test was how my hair felt after it was dry. Once I had dried my hair, I did notice that it looked a lot more shiny and full of life. The results weren't five star, as you can expect from a drugstore brand, but it did look in a much better condition, and I do admit that this shampoo is a lot better than certain brands that are priced similarly to this.
I would definitely recommend you try this out if your hair is lacking energy and life as it does work. If you are interested in purchasing this shampoo, it is located in a number of stores. I picked mine up from a supermarket, but they are also available in Boots and Superdrug.
Overall, I am going to give this shampoo four stars, because it delivered effective results for a good price, however there are better shampoos out there! Thanks for reading. :)
We dont usually buy loreal shampoo in our house, I dont know why, we must just have other brands we opt for over loreal. However, a couple of weeks back when I went to have a bath I noticed there was a new shampoo on the side which I had never tried before.
This shampoo was Loreal Elvive Nutri-gloss shampoo, light. It is for fine to normal hair and although my hair is actually thick I decided to give it a go anyway.
To use it you simply wet your hair, put a small amount of the shampoo in your hands (I usually use the size of around a 50p piece) and lather it up in your hair. Then rinse and use the matching conditioner.
The shampoo lathered up really well and a little of the shampoo went a really long way. It was also easy to rinse out. After I had rinsed it out I already noticed how light my hair felt, it no longer felt heavy and dirty but instead felt light, clean and fresh.
After I dried my hair I was really impressed with how shiny it was. It looked really clean, really shiny and it also looked like it was in great condition. It felt very light, and my hair stayed feeling like this for 2 days. After using this people commented that my hair looked nice and a couple of people even asked if I had had it cut.
I really like this shampoo and will certainly buy it again if its on offer. It left my hair feeling silky soft, very light and really fresh and clean. It currently costs £3.49 for 400ml at Superdrug but often can be found on some sort of deal.
I would recommend this shampoo, I think it does a great job and when on offer provides great value for money.
I hate it when shampoos and conditioners weigh your hair down and make it heavy and lifeless - sometimes it looks a bit lank and you feel a bit let down. But not with this shampoo!
It really is light - and as soon as you squeeze some out into your hand it FEELS light, as well as really creamy.
I find that you don't need to use too much to get a good lather with this shampoo and it then rinses out really well leaving no residue in your hair at all. The matching conditioner is much the same.
It smells absolutely gorgeous without being sickly or overpowering and the shampoo is bright pink, just like the bottle.
At about £2.50 for 250ml it's priced quite competitively against other "everyday" shampoos and it is also often on offer with the conditioner which brings the price down even further.
Because it rinses out so well, I find my hair dries much quicker (it seems to retain less water), and it is always gorgeously shiny and silky when I use this product. I do tend to use it for a few weeks and then have a change around (as I like lots of different shampoos and always think its best to rotate them) but I'm always pleased when I go back to it.
Nutri-Gloss Light shampoo is a re-vamped version of the popular Nutri-Gloss shampoo by L'Oreal. It's recommended for mid to long fine hair, that turns greasy. It sounds perfectly suite to my hair type, but I also have dry and damaged ends from lots of dyeing. I'm growing it out but it's a long process. The shampoo comes in a large 400ml bottle and the packaging can be recycled after use. I love the pink and green bottle they are my favourite colours and it looks pretty and adds a touch of colour to the bathroom shelf.
The bottle is full of jargon although the recommended directions for use couldn't be simpler: apply on wet hair, lather and rinse. Good job! Some of the promises from the label include:
Innovation: light technology. The active elements concentrated in pearl protein give natural pearls their brilliant shine and resistance. Pearl protein is combined with citrus, known for its purifying properties. Together, the formula delivers a dual action:
-it frees the hair of deposits, whilst smoothing and cleansing the fibre.
-it gives balanced nutrition from root to tip, without overloading the hair. Results: mirror shine, cashmere touch...even lighter!
The shampoo itself is a lovely pale pink colour with a pearly sheen. It has a fresh clean smell and the citrus element is nice and sweet. The creamy consistency means that the lather doesn't spread very far and I end up using quite a lot of liquid per wash. It lathers up but stays thick and foamy without too many bubbles. It rinses out easily and seems to cleanse very effectively.
My hair felt a lot more balanced once it was dry, and smooth through to the ends. The scent stayed in my hair for a few hours after washing. I didn't notice any real enhancement to the level of shine, and my hair still looks dry and faded from where it has been dyed previously. I am 1/3 of the way through the bottle and it doesn't look like prolonged usage is having any accumulative effect. I am still suffering with greasy patches especially on my fringe, and am having to wash frequently. Washing my hair daily seems to give it different problems and it tends to look stressed out and frizzy, so it is hard to strike a balance.
I recently put a semi-permanent colour on my hair and absolutely loved how shiny and lovely my hair felt after I'd applied the double strength conditioner that comes with it and really wanted to re-create the feeling without having to wait to re-apply the colour! I wasn't sure what to do but a random trip to boots drew my attention to L'Oreal Elvive Nutri-Gloss Light Shine Shampoo.
I already have so many shampoo's claiming to do all sorts of miracles to my unmanageable mane and I wasn't really looking for anything new but the claims of creating "mirror shine" was just too tempting to resist. The Shampoo bottle is baby pink in colour and has lime green text boxes on the label. The "Light" version of the shampoo is identifiable by the green ring around the lid. Although I have read that others did not like the pink and green combination, I really do! I think it looks fresh and really suits the shampoo's flavour which is citrus and pearl.
The shampoo claims to be for "mid to long, fine hair, that gets greasy" my hair is extremely long and does get greasy but is actually extremely thick and not fine at all. I chose this shampoo about the non-light version because my hair really does get greasy quickly and figured it wouldn't really matter if my hair type didn't match the hair type description exactly. The description on the bottle says "CLEAN & WEIGHTLESS FEEL, MIRROR SHINE, CASHMERE TOUCH" and I have to say I was utterly delighted with the results.
I cannot comment on long term use as I used the shampoo for the first time yesterday, but I was really pleased straight away! The shampoo is a pearly baby pink colour and has a creamy texture, typical of any shampoo. I didn't particularly notice the citrus in the scent but it is a pleasant smell all the same. The shampoo lathers up really well and washes out easily. Straight after shampooing my hair felt as it normally does after using any shampoo but I then used the conditioner which I think was responsible for the results I got. I will review the conditioner separately and I will continue to describe the results I got from using the shampoo but I do want to state that I think everything else I describe was down to the conditioner but obviously I can't really be sure.
When I got out of the shower my hair really did feel super soft and there wasn't a knot to be seen (which is something considering how much hair I have!!). I could still smell the shampoo but it wasn't overpowering which was quite nice. For the first time in a while I let my hair dry naturally as I wanted to see the results develop without using heat.
I bought my shampoo and conditioner from boots as there was an offer on (2 for £3) but individually a 250ml bottle costs £2.55. There are larger 400ml bottles available (not on the offer) which costs £3.59. Tesco and other places will sell this stuff but I prefer boots as I think the boots advantage points are brilliant.
When my hair was dry it really did feel lovely! Really soft and it didn't feel like it was coated with anything so the 'clean and weightless' description is accurate (for my hair type anyway!). The only thing I disagree with about the description is the 'mirror shine' claim. My hair was definitely shinier after I used the shampoo but I think the use of the work 'mirror' is exaggerating slightly! But I do have absolute proof that my hair was shinier - my boyfriend noticed!!!
I absolutely loved this shampoo, but like I said, I used it with the conditioner so my review is really about the combination (although I will review the conditioner separately). I rate this product 5/5 because I really did see the expected results (as I never really believed my hair would be as shiny as a mirror!). I recommend this to absolutely anyone looking for smooth, silky hair with a healthy shine. Especially if you hair is super thick and very long like mine!
Why this shampoo
I bought this shampoo several weeks ago as part of my attempts to find another shampoo to replace the Herbal Essences old style shampoo that I used to love. I have being trying several brands to find one that I like and this was the latest in a series of shampoo thrown into my basket at the supermarket.
What is it?
This shampoo from the L'Oreal Elvive range it is designed for mid to long fine and claims to have a refreshing shine booster from pearl proteins and citrus. The bottle packaging contains various claims including a long lasting clean and a light feel for your hair with a mirror shine and a cashmere touch.
The pink plastic bottle has pink and green writing on it. The green parts are to highlight this is the light version of the product. The bottle has a flip to lid for easy use and is recyclable.
These are the claims the shampoo make:
"To revive your hair's shine, the L'Oreal Laboratories have developed Elvive Nutir-gloss light .The active elements concentrated in Pearl Protein give natural pearls their brilliant shine and resistance. Pearl Protein is combined with Citrus, known for its purifying properties." It also promises to nourish and smooth the surface of the hair to capture and reflect the light.
I think you need to know my hair type so you can compare it to your own to see if this review will help you decide whether to try it or not so here goes. I have long straight shoulder length hair that is fine but there is lots of it so it is quite dense which means it can end up looking heavy and lacklustre so as this shampoo promised softness and to remove deposits and claimed to be lighter than most shampoo's I had high hopes.
On my first use to wash all my locks I used a £2 piece size globule of shampoo. The shampoo itself is a baby pink colour and rubbing it between my fingers it did feel very smooth and silky to the touch. The smell of the shampoo wasn't citrus which is what I was expecting as citrus was on the label and had been highlighted by the bottles claims to remove deposits to clean the hair. The smell I find really hard to define really it certainly has floral notes to it that do get accentuated when lathered up.
When I put on to my hair it lathers up really well and produces a nice head full of fluffy bubbles. The bubbles are white with a hint of pink to them. The rinsing off process took a little longer than it used to with Herbal Essences but the hair was left feeling clean to the touch and with no residual tackiness or stick. There is a wonderful squeaky clean noise as I run my fingers through my hair which I personally like as it make me feel the hair is well and truly clean. The other thing that I like about this shampoo was that following rinsing off the shampoo my hair wasn't knotted or tangled as it has been with some shampoo's I have tried. This of course made it easier to apply the conditioner.
I then have used the conditioner in the same make (but that's a separate review). Once my hair is dry I have to admit it does live up to the softness claims my hair feels very floaty and not heavy at all. There is still a slight lingering fragrance of flowers to my hair which I personally find very pleasant. My hair also has a more noticeable shine to it now you can't admire your reflection in my hair like a mirror but it does appear to reflect the light better and look glossier.
I don't normally wash my hair every day as I find this can leave my hair feeling heavy and laded down with product. The shine and softness that have noticed with my hair from using this shampoo certainly lasts over the two days in between washes and it is only starting to droop and look a bit limp by the end of the second day before I am ready to wash again on an evening.
Over the course of using this shampoo for a month I have noticed my hair has certainly been softer cleaner and has been less prone to grease which I personally find a great thing from shampoo. Over the course of a month using the a £2 coin size globule of shampoo I still haven't reached the end of a 400ml bottle so I think the shampoo last a reasonable length of time too.

Overall and recommendation
I would definitely recommend this shampoo to other people who have similar to myself the shampoo lives up to its light claims and my hair has never felt heavy with product since using it. Since using it my hair has been less greasy and with more shine and healthier to look at. I will certainly be buying it again.
This is available at most chemists and supermarkets and costs around £3-£3.50 for a 400ml bottle.
