I have been colouring my hair using Feria for a few months and have had such excellent results that I thought I’d tell you all about it. The Feria range comprises bright and unusual shades - the full spectrum of colours is there but they’ve all got a twist; the blonde is platinum and the black has hints of blue, for the past few weeks I’ve been ‘Mango’ which is described as Intense Copper and posed by a model with bright ginger hair.
Application is good, I find it easier to squirt small blobs of the hair colorant into my hand rather than try to direct the nozzle towards my roots as recommended in the Feria leaflet - using my hands and fingertips I can spread the colorant better and I seem to be able to work quicker. At the moment I have just below shoulder length hair and one box of Feria is sufficient, up until last month my hair was six inches longer and then I needed two boxes to ensure full coverage - I’m not sure what it is about this particular colorant but my hair seems to absorb it really quickly, I have to work quickly to move the wet mixture around in order to coat my hair before it all absorbs. There’s a knack to using this product, but once you’ve got it you’ll find you can get the most out of the bottle without too much panic towards the end.
Considering it develops into a bright orange ‘wetness’ on my hair, the dye is surprisingly easy to rinse out. I find the total rinsing time is only around five or six minutes and find that really impressive considering the length of my hair and the brightness of the colour. Be careful as you rinse as this particular shade is a nightmare for staining the shower curtain, this has happened to me numerous times as however much I try to avoid it I always end up with telltale splashes on the fabric.
I adore how my hair looks after it’s been rinsed and dried. The condition is fabulous, after using the conditioner included in the box there’s not so much as a single knot in my hair when I comb through after rinsing and while drying. The strength of colour is quickly apparent as my hair dries, with the orange/ginger tones coming through beautifully and pretty much immediately. It’s never been patchy or uneven in colour, even at the roots which are always much darker than the colour I’m dying over - it provides impressive coverage and I’m happy that the colour doesn’t fade too much over time. I guess I get at least four weeks of vibrant colour each time I colour my hair using Feria and even then I only tend to re-colour it because my hair grows quickly and the roots show through.
After awhile using Schwarzkopf, I thought I might want to try another brand, another colour, especially after I have heard some good reviews about this product. So I went to the drugstore, bought two packages of this particular colour (because my hair is long and quite thick, so one box wouldn''t be enough).
So I read the instruction, did exactly what it told me to do. This is not the first time I coloured my own hair, so this is not really a big problem for me. The application is fairly easy because once you''ve got the hang of it, it was a piece of cake. Considering that there was no allergic reaction, rash, nor anything wrong in my scalp during the process, I would say that the colouring process was a big success.
The result was beautiful. The red colour was bright and vibrant and exactly what I thought it would look like. Of course it was not exactly the same as the colour in the box because my real hair colour is really dark brown. But the shine and the colour tone was just right. I was impressed.
For the first week.
Then I started to feel there was something wrong with my hair. The end of my hair started to dry out and felt really brittle. Even after I used all the after care products which worked many times before. It seems that the chemical in this product is a lot harsher than ones I found in other hair colourant, and it seems that my hair really couldn''t cope with it.
I had to trim the very end of my hair because I couldn''t save them. It''s just... dead. But after weeks of a very intensive treatment, my hair started its recovery. It hasn''t yet fully recovered, and still falling a lot, but at least it''s not as coarse as it was before.
I asked some of my friends who also tried this, some said that it worked for them. But not for me.
