My son was very low on shampoo and so when I was in Asda looking to buy some new shampoo for me I decided to pick him a bottle up as well. There wasn't a massive range of what I would call children's shampoos in the shop and the only l'oreal kids shampoo they had was the new tropical mango fragrance and so I just threw it in the trolley! This is my review of the product.
I have bought other fragrances of l'oreal kids shampoo in the past for my son and so I did feel confident that this would be a good quality product for my sons hair. It comes in light orange coloured plastic bottle which features a darker orange cap. When the bottle is laid on it's side it looks like a fish with an eyeball present on the bottle and some scales too and the darker orange cap acts as a mouth for the fish. Although this isn't necessary I do think it is a nice touch for a childs product and I think it would be encouraging for a child who doesn't particularly like having their hair washed for example. The bottle is curved towards the top and whilst I think it makes it a bit easier for me to hold it is still quite a wide bottle and so little hands may struggle a bit but it isn't a problem as you shouldn't leave a child unattended in a bath anyway, especially a small one so you will be on hand to help out. I would say the bottle is quite soft and so it is more easy to hold it sideways as you can grip it easier then.
We are told on the bottle that this is a new product and that it is an extra gentle two in one shampoo. We are also told that this shampoo boasts a no parabens formula which will leave no tears or knots! Whilst my son is eight now and does sometimes use my shampoo from time to time I do like buying the child friendly ones for him because he wants a bit of independence to wash his own hair and I don' t want him getting it in his eyes because it stings like hell! At least with a formula like this I am a bit less worried about that. The packaging also tells me that this super fruity fragrance is designed for extra shine which is a nice addition I think.
When you lift up the cap of the shampoo and sniff at the bottle you can detect a lovely tropical fruity fragrance. The shampoo itself is a pale pearlescent colour and really does smell lovely when you have it out of the bottle. I don't need much for my son's short hair and probably use around the size of a ten pence piece when it is at it's longest and a bit wild. The shampoo massages really well in to wet hair and the scent is really noticeable the more you lather it up which is nice. Rinsing the shampoo from the hair is also really easy and as yet we haven't had any drama with it coming too close to his eyes!
When my son has used this on his hair the scent is still noticeable in his hair for around an hour or two after his bath which is something I like as many hair products I use tend to lose their fragrance as soon as I have washed it from my hair. His hair doesn't get knotty when he has used this shampoo and although he is a boy he has hair quite like mine which is thick with a natural curl and so sometimes it can be a little knotty but this shampoo seems to help combat that. His hair has a lovely shine to it anyway as it is healthy but I do notice it seems to shine more when we have used this shampoo so it seems to come good on all of its claims and is a really good quality shampoo for children in my opinion.
A 250ml bottle costs £2.19 in Boots currently or you can buy a pack of two on amazon for £3.98 which makes better value as it comes with free postage and packing as well. I would absolutely recommend this shampoo for your child as it smells nice and does a good job of washing hair and keeping it healthy looking. A bottle will last my son a long time as his hair is short and so I think it is good value as well.
Thank you for reading my review!
Me and my daughter have experimented with a variety of different shampoos and conditioners for her as she went through a huge stage of pulling her own hair out and eating, I thought maybe the different scents of hair care products might put her off a little. One of the brands we tried was L'Oreal.
This L'Oreal 2 in 1 mango shampoo is quite widely available to purchase from supermarkets and places like Boots and usually costs around the £2 mark for a 250ml bottle.
The packaging matches the rest of the L'Oreal children's hair care products being a stand out, bold bottle on our bathroom shelf. It's brightly coloured and looks quite weird to start with, but the more you inspect it, you will notice it's actually designed to represent a fish with eye and fun detailing. It's definitely different to the norm but for a children's product, I think it's a good thing. The only problem with the packaging is the flip top lid at the top can be really stiff to open for the first handful of uses, a two handed job for sure!
After working your way into the lid, you'll notice a nice sized hole for the product to come out of. The product has a nice creamy consistency and on first dispensing it from the bottle you are met with a gorgeous tropical scent and the mango description in the product is spot on. The smell is lovely and doesn't feature the artificial smell you can get with some other similar products. The product lathers with ease so there is no messing around during bath time and at the same time, it is easy to rinse off too.
The product is 2 in 1 so it saves time if you normally shampoo and condition your child's hair, I personally don't usually but this product means my daughter's hair gets the benefit of both. It also contains the no more tears formulation which is key with these types of children's products, it doesn't make me feel as guilty if any strays into my daughters eyes, a quick rinse out and she's as good as new.
The results of this 2 in 1 is fantastic and it leaves my daughters hair nice, soft with a shiny look to it without having to shampoo and condition it separately. The lovely tropical mango scent remains on the hair once it's dry and I'm pleased all round with the results once the hair is dry.
I'd definitely recommend this 2 in 1 mango shampoo from L'Oreal. The price is good for the results the products offer and I think the value for money is great. It washes hair with ease, smells great and contains the all important no more tears formulation. It's recommended by both me and my daughter.
Just as I like to change my shampoo's around when I am getting tired of them, I like to do the same for my kids too to keep them interested in washing their hair in the bath and to give them new and exciting flavours to wash with.
This shampoo choice is courtesy of my little girl and was chose because it smelt the best out of all the shampoo's for kids that we smelt. I have to agree with her, the smell is absolutely amazing, it smells just like holiday, all tropical fruits and sweet succulent smells. In fact, the fragrance of this shampoo is called Tropical Mango shampoo and its really lovely and fruity. You can really smell the mango in this shampoo in my opinion and what I love is that you can smell it on the heads of my kids for quite a while afterwards which I love and I am forever smelling their hair to get a gorgeous whiff!
This shampoo is from L'Oreal and is formulated especially for kids and I think its a really good idea to get a shampoo that is made just for kids as you know its going to be a lot more caring and gentle on their soft silky hair. This shampoo not only has a no tears formula it also has a no knots formula too which was one of the reasons why I bought it as my kids' hair is getting longer now and a bit tangly at times. What I also like about this shampoo is that its very quick to rinse out of their hair too, I find with some shampoos it takes forever to get the suds out but with this it just takes a few rinses with a cup of water and its gone. My daughter likes it because she hates having her hair rinsed so anything that shortens the agony is good for me and her. It really leaves the hair very clean after I have rinsed it out and you get no residue in the hair which I find can often make their hair very greasy if left in, no problem here with this shampoo.
In fact, it actually says on the back of the bottle that, "knots can't fight against the conditioning 2-in-1 formula of L'Oreal kids. It's creamy formula leaves hair soft, smooth, manageable and extra shiny." I wish I could post a photo here as their hair, my son's especially is so soft after using this, it looks amazing and so shiny! The shampoo lathers up really well I find so you only need a small little squirt.
What I really like about the shampoo is that it comes in a cute shaped bottle which has a face on it so already it is a fun product for kids to use. The bottle is a yellow/orange colour with a deep orange flip cap lid. The lid stays on really tight so when this is dropped in the bath, which it often is, it doesn't leak thankfully. The bottle is small enough that my little girl can hold it herself and put it on her hair herself which she loves doing.
All in all a lovely kids shampoo with an amazing smell and great results!
L'Oreal Kids 2-in-1 Tropical Mango Shampoo for extra shine is so gentle it's tear free!
