My 3 year old daughter hates having her hair brushed and her Grandma bought her some of this product to see if would help the situation. My daughter has the type of curly hair that needs tidying up quite a few times per day. She hates wearing it tied up so it quickly gets tangled if she sits in her car seat or has a nap on the sofa. However she is always reluctant to have it brushed. This was the first of this type of product we have tried and I was pleasantly surprised.
It comes in a green bottle with a yellow spray top - easy to squirt and bright and fun to look at. It holds 150ml which has lasted us a few months now.
The first thing you notice upon using this spray is the fragrance. The bottle says it is a super fruity fragrance of sweet pear. I love it and my daughter loves it! It is a lovely, strong, sweet fragrance.
The second thing you notice is that it actually works! I have used this on both wet and dry hair and it really does seem to make a difference. When applied to towel dried hair, it allows a comb or brush to get through the tangles much quicker and with much less fuss from my daughter. Even on dry hair she complains much less than usual. I'm not sure how much of this is psychological but I don't really mind. She loves that she can spray it herself (although it does tend to end up with one side of her hair much wetter than the other) and she even brushes it herself afterwards which is a great step forward.
My only criticism is that it seems to take a long time to dry off and leaves a bit of a residue on the hair. However it also leaves a lovely fragrance and results in many less tears so overall it is a winner for me.
It costs just over £2 in boots which is a very worthwhile investment!
My three year old daughter really hates having her brushed. Her hair is quite thick and long and quite often gets tangled and knotty. She always cries having her hair brushed and really hates it.
After reading a review on here and spotting this tangle tamer in Tescos for only £1 I thought I would give it a go and see if it could make our lives any easier.
USING THE SPRAY
I told Sophie is was a special magic spray to help make brushing her hair not hurt any more....she seemed to buy it!
It is a simple push down top, so just one push releases a spray of the liquid.
I squirted it a few times all over her hair. One spray covers quite a lot so you don't need to spray it too many times in one go because you will end up with very wet hair.
I started brushing through it, as I said before, her hair is quite thick so it was quite tangled.
Brushing her hair with the spray on definitely made it easier to brush her hair with. I also liked how it dried pretty quickly leaving my daughter's hair soft and shiny.
The scent is supposed to be 'sweet pear'. Whilst the fragrance is ok, I'm not sure I would say it is pears that I can smell. I would say it's slightly fruity, but I was a little disappointed with the smell as I expected it to be L'Oreal Kid's usual extra fruity fragrance.
Saying this though, the smell is not bad just a little more chemical like than I would have expected.
It states on the bottle that it can be used on dry or wet hair. We have only used it on dry hair so far as I think that it is already easier to brush out tangles on wet or damp hair.
Sophie loves having a 'special spray' just for her. She really likes the way the bottle looks as if you lay it on it's side, it's designed to look like a fish. It is definitely appealing to children.
She has noticed a difference in the ease of brushing her hair and whenever it's time to do her hair she always goes off and fetches the bottle of tangle tamer. It's a real hit with her.
The only real problem I have had with this Tangle Tamer is the bottle. Every time I spray some on my daughter's hair some of it leaks out. So if I only spray it three times I end up with a very wet hand and it drips down on to my leg. It's pretty annoying!
This could possibly be that I have a slightly faulty bottle as I've not heard of anyone else having these problems.
Would I recommend? Yes!
Would I buy again? Yes, I will be buying again as Sophie is definitely easier to keep sat still using this spray, however if I get another bottle that leaks all over me again, I probably will look for another brand.
4 / 5 stars for me. Loses one for the leaky bottle
Thank you for reading

My eldest daughter absolutely hates getting her hair brushed, so I am always on the look out for a decent detangling spray in the hope that it will make life a bit easier, and quieter. Whilst doing my weekly shop in Tesco I noticed this L'oreal kids "sweet pear" tangle tamer spray on offer for £1 and decided to give it a go.
The spray is presented in a 150ml green plastic bottle which is slightly transparent so the liquid can be seen inside. The packaging is very bright and my daughter was instantly interested in it, she particularly liked the added eye sticker which makes the bottle look like a fish when turned on its side!
General information is given on the back of the bottle including ingredients, warnings and directions for use. Once opened the product has a shelf life of twelve months.
L'oreal claim this product will quickly detangle knotty hair, leaving it shiny and clean. It also has a "no tears" formula, but of course direct contact with eyes should be avoided.
The spray nozzle works well and produces an even spritz of product through the hair. After applying I do find my daughters hair incredibly easy to brush, in fact the brush just glided through. I was very impressed considering the length and thickness of her hair, the tangle tamer worked like a dream. Not only did the tangle tamer leave my daughters hair knot free but it was softer and shinier too.
We have the Sweet Pear fragrance, Im not sure if other fragrances are available but my local Tesco only seem to stock this one. I was a little disappointed that it didn't smell like actual fresh pears, it was a little artificial and I would liken it to the fragrance of pear drops. I don't particularly dislike the fragrance, I just would have preferred it to be a little more fruity and natural smelling, my daughter loves it though and says it smells sweet. It is also very potent and can still be detected on my daughters hair for several hours after application.
My daughter and I have been very impressed with the L'oreal Tangle Tamer and I would certainly buy it again in the future , especially if I spot it on offer. Its the full 5 Dooyoo stars from me.

My three year old daughter, otherwise known as the 'threenager' has a very stubborn streak. If there is something that she doesn't want to do, then she just won't do it. One of the major battlegrounds in our house is brushing her hair - she has beautiful hair (when it is not full of tangles), falling to just below her shoulders, but she absolutely hates having it brushed. However, she already has a keen interest in 'beauty products', citing Boots as one of her favourite shops. We spotted this L'Oreal Kids Sweet Pear Tangle Tamers on one of our frequent trips to check out the nail varnishes and tinted lip-salves and a little idea popped into my head. Just maybe, I thought, if she has a special product all of her own which is used to make her hair 'pretty', she might actually accept having it brushed. So, we stood in front of the product shelf and discussed it - sure enough, she was keen enough on the idea of having her 'own special hair-spray' to agree to give it a try - and off we trotted to the nearest till so that she could buy it 'all by herself' (with my money, obviously).
* The Product *
L'Oreal Kids Sweet Pear Tangle Tamer comes in a bright green bottle with a yellow spray pump top. Application of the product is very simple - you simply press down the pump top and spray a small amount directly on to the hair. It can be used on both wet and dry hair. The scent of the product is very fruity and, in my opinion, appropriate for children as it is a simple pear fragrance without any heavy perfume more suited to adults. According to the product information on the bottle, it is a "ultra-detangling formula that tackles even the most stubborn of knots and tames bed head, leaving hair shiny and feeling clean all day'. The texture of the product is fairly watery - there is not any stickiness and it does not leave noticeable residue on hair. In fact, when brushed through, hair seems to be shinier and more manageable than usual.
* Our Experiences *
My first attempt at using this product on my daughter was at the potentially challenging post-bath time slot, when she is usually tired and even more resistant to hair-brushing than usual. I towel-dried her hair and then explained that we were going to try the 'special spray'. She clearly felt that this was acceptable and actually stood still while I sprayed it on, instead of squirming and running away like she usually does when confronted with a hairbrush. I did feel that the spray made a difference to how easily the brush went through her hair - due to the hair-brush phobia, it was in a bit of a state (despite using a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner on it), but using the spray made it easier to pull the brush gently through the worst of the tangles. Impressively, her hair remained relatively tangle-free the following morning and she allowed me to brush it again with only a token squirt. Since then, we have continued to use the spray after bath time to ensure that her hair remains tangle-free and on any stubborn tangles which appear in between.
It works just as well on wet and dry hair - I use it as a styling spray when putting her hair into bunches as the slight dampness it creates makes her hair easier to style. Initially, we were using this most days but, due to the fact that it is now easier to brush her hair, the resistance to the hairbrush has diminished and we now only really use it on days where the tangles are particularly bad. She likes the feeling that she is using a 'grown-up' product and I like the fact that hair-brushing is less of a battle these days. The only reservation that I would have about this product is that I am unconvinced that using a spray regularly is great for her hair - I haven't noticed any negative effects so far but I know that when I use products on my own hair, they eventually build up and cause it to become greasier.
* Price and Purchasing *
L'Oreal Kids Sweet Pear Tangle Tamer costs £2.19 from Boots for a 150ml bottle. It is probably available for cheaper elsewhere if you shop around. I think this represents fairly good value for money as it saves a lot of tears and tantrums in this house.
* Final Thoughts *
I have been impressed with the performance of this little bottle of spray. For me, the most important thing is that it has encouraged my little girl to allow us to brush her hair. This, in turn, has led to us being able to put it up in bunches/ponytails and to clip the fringe she is growing out away from her eyes. Without this spray, hair-brushing time would probably still be a stress-filled battleground so, in my opinion, it was a great purchase for us. I have also used it as a quick styling spray on my six year old son when his hair has been sticking up in the mornings and it works relatively well for that purpose as well. I am giving it the full five star rating as it has worked so well for us - obviously it is dependent on hair type and a child's acceptance of the using it - but I would definitely recommend it.
Doesn't help at all, nice smell one star for that.
My daughter has beautiful thick hair but this means that it can becomes knotted and tangled after she washes it which causes her some discomfort when it is getting dried. Although she is old enough to wash her own hair when it comes to drying it with the hair dryer and then styling it in a ponytail etc she likes me to do it so I always make sure and have a detangler in the house to make the whole process a little easier.
The L'oreal kids tangle tamer is a spray that is designed to be used on both wet and dry hair to leave the hair tangle and knot free and shiny and full of life.
The spray can be used on both wet and dry hair and you just need to spray some on to the hair and then comb it through.
I find that if my daughter has washed her hair then it is much better to use this spray on her hair before it dry's too much. I just spritz some all over her hair and then comb it with a wide tooth comb and the tangles and knots really do just fall out without any sort of tugging or pain. If I use it on dry hair then it does take a little bit more working to get the knots out but it is still much easier and more preferable to trying to brush her hair without any tamer in it.
I have also used this on myself and found it to be a great item to take to the beach with us as my own hair is prone to tangling and knotting after swimming and lying on the beach. I found a few spritz of this was enough to tame it again.
It also has an absolutely amazing smell which is sweet pear. At first smell I thought this would be far too sweet for my own personal tastes but once it is on the hair and dried in it only has a subtle sweet smell and instead just makes hair smell really fresh and clean.
I really like the fact that because this is designed for kids it doesn't leave hair looking as though you have used a product on it. It just leaves it looking healthy, shiny and full of bounce.
You can buy a 150ml bottle from boots for only £2 and as it lasts for absolutely ages I think this is well worth the money.
Normally I use Avon's tangle tamer for my daughters hair as it is very long (not far off her bum) and thick to boot however when I was shopping with her recently she brought to my attention the end of an aisle full of L'Oreal Kids products on half price and since it was £1 instead of the usual £2.60 for the Avon one I decided we would give it a try.
The normal selling price for the whole L'Oreal Kids range is about £2 each and this is for 150mls of the tangle tamer, you can buy this is chemists and supermarkets so it isn't hard to get hold of.
The product comes in a very attractive bottle in my opinion, it is bright green in colour so it certainly stood out on the shelf and is narrow towards the bottom and curves outwards to about 2 3rds of the way up the bottle and then curves back in looking like shoulders. The bottle has a bright yellow pump type top on it for easy application. The fragrance of the product is sweet pear and I would say that it does actually smell of pear and I really like the smell and so does my daughter as when we spray it she likes to smell her hair before I brush it through.
This product can be used on both wet and dry hair but I find that the shampoos we are currently using (depends which colour bottle she wants at the time) detangle her hair fine it is just after she has slept on it we have an issue so we only use this when her hair is dry. The product claims to be no tears, no knots and quick at detangling, well it does what it promises. The product sprays out well and doesn't spray too much at a time so her hair doesn't end up soaking wet, the spray smells lovely but only lasts an hour or so on her hair which is disappointing. The brush goes through her bed hair easily and she doesn't moan that it is hurting when we are using the product so it certainly does the job well. I do find however that if I am using this everyday then her hair tends to get greasy quicker and so I have started plaiting her hair for bed to lessen the amount of usage. I would recommend this and I am going to stock up when I see it on offer again as it is just as good as the Avon version and I can find it cheaper.
My daughter, age 5, has very fine, fly-away hair. I send her into school with a neat ponytail or plait, or as neat as you can get with a wriggling 5 year old! Like most other active 5 year old girls, her playtimes at school consist of running around like a lunatic, hanging upside down on the bars, playing chasing games and generally burning off excess energy. As a result, this means she often comes OUT of school looking like a scarecrow!
I tend to only was her hair 2-3 times a week, as she is so young and I have heard that too frequent washing washes away some of the precious oils needed for healthy hair growth. When I do wash her hair I use a mild fruit scented shampoo from L'Oreal Kids, but I also use the L'Oreal Kids Tangle Tamer on her hair after I have towel dried it. A good few sprays are needed to entirely cover her head, and it smells sweet and fruity, which my daughter loves.
I find it has a real effect on my daughter's hair when I come to comb it and dry it. The knots don't exactly "fall out" but you definitely don't need to exert quite as much force as I find I have to on the days I forget to use the Tangle Tamer, or we have run out.
I tend to buy this product in Boots, where it is usually £2 for a bottle which lasts us about 2-3 months of use. Quite often however you can get this product as part of their 3 for 2 offer so I tend to stock up then to last us longer.
In summary, a well scented but mild product which kids seems to enjoy, and which does what it says on the tin! A very helpful, if slightly expensive initial outlaw product. Give it a go and see how it works taming your child's tangled tresses!
The first time I went to a music festival I spent 5 days in a dirty muddy field, sweating in the summer heat and drinking copious amounts of alcohol. In the 5 days I didn't once wash my hair, so by the time I got home I smelt like a pig pen, well not quite. I smelt of dirt, booze, sweat and general muck. So the following year I learnt by my past mistake and was looking to invest in some dry shampoo or something to freshen my hair up whilst I was at the festival, I ended up taking some Batiste Dry Shampoo with me. One of my best friends took some of this, L'Oreal Kids Tangle Tamer with her and I ended up using hers instead of my Batiste Dry Shampoo as it worked so well! My can of Dry Shampoo ended up staying in my bag untouched throughout the whole week at the festival.
Every morning I woke up with serious bed hair, tangled and curly from the previous days antics of sweating in the summer heat whilst rocking out in a crowd of thousands, and being covered in beer from drunken idiots launching beers at several terrible bands, or me myself just generally spilling beer all over myself. So I would simply spray some of the tangle tamer onto my hair, comb through the knots and let it dry in the sun. My hair would look fresh and clean, and it smelt lovely and fruity.
This product is perfect for people who unfortunately suffer from stubborn frizzy, curly or knotty hair, or is great for kids who suffer from knotty hair, as it makes the hair smoother and easier to comb through so littlen's won't get upset when you pull on their hair.
Applying on wet hair; It's best to towel dry your hair first before you start to use the product so your hair isn't too wet already. Once you have towel dried your hair enough, simply spray the product onto your hair and comb through. I use a little product when I've just washed my hair as my hair is naturally curly and tends to get quite luggy and knotted, not a lot of product is needed so try not to go OTT with it and think you need a lot as you really just need a little spritz through the lengths of your hair.
Applying on dry hair; You simply spray the product through the lengths of your hair, starting from the underneath is best where your hair suffers mostly from tangles. Don't spray too much of the product into your hair as it will make it quite wet. All you do then is simply comb it through your hair and your done. I tend to just spray it on the underneath of my hair where it curls most, after a comb through a couple of minutes it is dry enough for me to start styling my hair as normal and using my hair straighteners on it.
You can purchase L'Oreal Tangle Tamer from most retailers like Superdrug, Wilkinsons and Boots for around £2 for a 150ml bottle. The bottles last me a few months at a time as I don't use it that often, you really don't need a lot of product to untangle your lugs and knots. I guess it just depends what your hair is like as to how often you will use it.
I'd recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a detangling spray for their little ones, or for someone who is travelling or going to festivals and can't wash their hair for a few days but still want to feel clean and fresh. The Pear fragrance leaves your hair smelling lush and fruity without it being over powering, the mist that the spray bottle produces disperses just the right amount of product each time so your hair isn't left feeling greasy and full of product.
I always find that I have to use a detangling spray on my daughter's hair after washing even when using a conditioner and I usually go for the Avon variety since it's usually on offer in the book and I can stock up and have the item delivered to my door. On a recent order I had forgotten to purchase the detangling spray and needed it so I headed out to Sainsbury's supermarket to see if I could pick anything up and I was extremely happy to see the L'Oreal kids tangle tamer reduced to a pound.
The tangle tamer I purchased must be a limited edition as it is themed around the new movie Rio. The tamer comes in a lovely bright green 150ml bottle that is very funky and definitely stood out to me on the shelf. The tamer is sweet pear and it can be used on wet or dry hair to untangle any stubborn tats.
I love the scent of this product as it is very fresh and juicy and a pleasure to use. I tent to use the product mostly on my daughters wet hair when she has came out the bath I spray a generous amount to the hair and the comb slides through the hair with absolute ease. I am also pleased to see that the scent lingers on the hair after drying to which is an added bonus.
I have on occasion used this product on dry hair too if there has been a stubborn tat that just won't shift and again I have been very pleased with the result. I expected this product to make the hair appear greasy when using it on dry hair but it doesn't at all in fact it seems to freshen the hair up.
I am very happy with this product and I will definitely be saying goodbye to my usual Avon brand now that I have discovered this. It is light and smells fantastic. I would definitely recommend this to any parents.
Okay, so I'm nearly 18 and I'm quite a fan of L'oreal Kids products. However, I'm terrible for over-using this which puts me off massively. Over-use of this product does give hair a greasy feeling, but I don't have dry hair at all. I bought this product because I stopped brushing my hair - I condition it well and my hair very rarely knots so I realised there wasn't much point in damaging my hair brushing it, so went searching for a de-tangler to get rid of any left over tangle.
I found this at just under £2, which is pretty cheap for 150ml, and absolutely fell in love with the 'Sweet Pear' smell. (I also planned an unnecessary story for the cashier about an imaginary little sibling I was buying all the L'oreal Kids products for). My boyfriend immediately complimented me on the smell, but it wears off very quickly - meaning, that's right, I put it on again (and again... and again) - so I'm slightly to blame for the greasy hair feel.
As for the de-tangling, it does actually do the job - but I only ever use it on dry hair. It also lasts a very long time (even with my excessive using!) As for it's actual target audience, it's spray pump, brightly coloured, easy to grip bottle is very appealing for kids. Having laughed to myself at the 'no tears!' being unnecessary for a 17 year old, I sprayed myself in the face - and indeed, no tears. I advise this product for any age, it de-tangles, smells incredible and (when rationed) makes hair feel very clean - and no tears!
I only bought this product a few weeks ago after being pleased with the results from the shampoo.
It comes in a green bottle with a yellow pump sray , 150ml and has handy grips on the side of the bottle to prevent slipping out of hands. The writing on the front states "No Tears No Knots For Quick Detangling." It comes with a sweet pear fragrance and smells delicious! Even my husband commented on how fresh and fruity it smelt, and the smell does linger on the hair for a long time.
It can be used on wet or dry hair and I have found great results with both, although I do wait for a few minutes after spraying before I comb it out. There is no need for it to be washed out and this helps to condition the hair all day and gives it a great shine
My daughter has very fine, curly hair which is a nightmare for knots in the morning and since using this conditioner I have found that she has less split ends and her hair seems to be stronger with less breaking when brushing. The conditioner is also gentle on the eyes if you accidently miss when spraying. On the back of the bottle it states that it has been tested under Ophthalmologist control.
I would definately recommend this product, it does the job and smells delicious.
L'Oreal Kids 'Tangle Tamer' is another great product from the L'Oreal Kids range. The 'Sweet Pear' Tangle Tamer is suitable for use on wet and dry hair and is ideal for quick de-tangling.
L'Oreal promise that the 'ultra-detangling formula tackles even the most stubborn of knots and tames bed head, leaving hair shiny and feeling clean all day'. As with the rest of the kids range, the 'Tangle Tamer' has the no tears formulation.
Due to using a shampoo from the L'Oreal Kids range that is effective at detangling at 'hair wash time' we have never used this product on wet hair. However, I rely heavily on the Tangle Tamer over the summer months to help de-tangle my little girls bed head. My little one tends to get very hot when asleep and due to the fact she can't lie still she wakes up with very messy, very tangled hair.
The Tangle Tamer is very easy to use due to the pump action bottle. I simply spritz my daughter's hair a couple of times and then using a wide tooth comb, comb the product through and this leaves her hair smooth, tangle free and very shiny as well as smelling lovely. The Pear fragrance is very fresh and like most of the L'Oreal products, it smells good enough to eat !! The Tangle Tamer is very quick drying so depending on how much you need to use, it soon drys. My little one has waist length hair and I find 2-3 sprays is more than enough to de-tangle messy hair.
I have to admit I have also used the Tangle Tamer as an alternative to dry shampoo if my hair needs a bit of a 'pick me up'. I find that a couple of spritzes followed by my straightening irons, gives my hair extra life, shine and leaves it smelling clean.
The price varies depending on where you purchase the Tangle Tamer but I've found that it lasts for ages as you don't need that much to do a great job. Would definitely recommend when a bit more help is needed to deal with bed hair and knots !
