I expected to really like this hair oil after hearing lots of glowing blog reviews about it but if I'm honest, I felt a little bit let down by L'oreal's Mythic Oil.
The idea of hair oils is not something new to me and I already had a collection of five before adding the Mythic Oil. I use them daily and apply them to my damp hair after washing to help detangle and then sometimes once dry to make my hair feel a little softer or look a little shinier but unfortunately, I don't feel like my hair got these benefits from the Mythic Oil, particularly when compared to my favourite Macadamia Healing Oil.
Where the Mythic Oil falls down for me is that it makes my hair feel quite weighed down and greasy and a little bit sticky, even when I apply the smallest amount. I really didn't expect this from the oil because it is the most lightweight oil I own, it's very thin and so I though it would be perfect for my fine hair.
Where the mythic oil does come into its own a little more is in the frizz control department. I have absolutely no frizz when I apply this to the lengths and ends of my hair, and no fly aways either which is definitely a plus point.
Over time, I do feel like this oil does help to add moisture to your hair but for me, it just feels too greasy and sticky to use in the usual way.
Instead, I now apply it at night time onto my dry hair, roots included, sleep with it in and then wash it off in the morning. I find this works much better for me and my hair.
I can see this being great for people with frizzy hair, curly hair and/or afro hair and instead of it being perfect for fine hair, after trying it, I am more inclined to recommend it to people with thicker hair.
I do love the packaging though, it looks really luxe and definitely like it costs a lot more than around the ten pound mark. And the smell is lovely too, it makes your hair smell like you've just stepped out of a salon.
It is a nice product but it's just not my favourite.
Having tried hair oils costing from £7 up to £18 the L'oreal Mythic Oil beats them all. It is so difficult nowadays to find products that honestly work but this one does. I am English and my hair can get a bit fluffy from the wind/rain/humidity but I found that serum can make it limp. I have tried other oils but this one is simply the best as it absorbs in-whether used on wet or dry hair. I also use it to finish off a style and smooth the ends and my hair looks so much shinier and healthier since using it. It works on straightened hair or if you are doing a curly style. It is a generous sized bottle so though it isn't as cheap as some high street brands it honestly does last as only two pumps rubbed between your palms and smoothed through your hair will be plenty. It smells great too. If you are planning a trip abroad and will be swimming this is the ideal product to pack to help repair it.A must buy!
