“ L'Oreal's Mess it Up Putty gives you a very strong hold, whilst still maintaining that natural look. Whilst it does rinse out easily, be careful not to use too much, as it can make hair appear greasy. „
L'Oreal Studio Line Mineral Control Mess It Up Putty is a yellow cylindrical container. It's not very big, but you don't need much. On top you have a label which says that there is no alcohol in the putty. Also it says that the putty should last for 24 hours. On the side of the little container you have information including the ingredients and that this is a category four of the five, which means its quiet strong. It's softer than wax but it's firmer than gel.
The putty smells a bit like lemon. The container itself is yellow, so suppose they match. When you apply the gel into your hair you can't really smell the lemon anymore. Luckily because I don't want to smell like lemon the whole day long! It's a refreshing smell though and certainly pleasant when you smell it for a minute.
It is very easy to use. You only need a little bit in your hands and then you apply it over your hands. From here you can easily apply the putty into your hair. In the beginning it feels a bit greasy, but it's easy to style your hair into the shape you want. Quickly enough the gel settles and your hair stays in shape.
I find this putty very good, especially since your hair stays the whole day just how you styled it. It seems very expensive because it is a small container, but looks can be deceiving because you can be sure to last one month with it, and probably even longer. I think it's a disadvantage that your hair gets greasy.
So, this putty is definitely recommended. It's more to style your hair and the gel doesn't get hard so hair stays nice and soft. You can definitely mess your hair up and style it just the way you want. Since I have short hair this is no problem at all.
The Mess it up putty costs around £3.45 for a tub that contains 150ml.
I sometimes like to go for the messy look with my hair, especially when it is quite short. Putty is the perfect product for getting this effect and the L'Oreal Studio Line Mineral Control 'Mess It Up' Putty fits the bill. I am keen on using L'Oreal products and have used their Studio Line range for some time now.
The putty comes in a green screw-top pot containing 150ml of product. I find putty to be easier to apply than wax as it is wet and therefore easier to spread on my fingers and then in my hair. The putty has quite a fruity fragrance to it which is pleasant enough. It isn't too feminine though so I am more than happy to use it. If the fragrance had been more masculine then I think it would have been off-putting to some women.
The putty is easy to apply, simply putting some of it onto my fingertips and working it gently into my hair. The end result gives me hair with more body and structure. If you apply too much product then you will end up with greasy looking hair, so it is best to use a little and keep adding until you get the desired effect. Once I have applied the putty I can then begin to work it into the style I want and the putty is quite versatile in giving me the look I want. I always make sure I wash the putty out before I go to bed, as if I leave it in my hair will be all greasy and not very nice at all.
Overall I am more than happy with the L'Oreal Studio Line Mineral Control 'Mess It Up' Putty. I would recommend it to anyone looking to be more creative with their hairstyle and for those that want to be able to create something different each time! Well worth the £3.
I wear my hair quite short at the back and long at the front. I have bought different brands of clay, putty, gel and wax to help create a more dynamic funky look. I bought the L'Oreal Studio Line Mineral Control Mess It Up Putty as it looked like it was exactly what I was after. I quite like the "messed up" look so I decided to give this product a try. It was on offer at Boots when I bought it as part of a 3 for 2 deal.

The Mess it up putty costs around £3.45 for a tub that contains 150ml.
The putty comes in a green pot with a screw top lid that is easy to remove. The pot is large enough for you to be able to scoop up a fair amount of putty without it being too fiddly.
The putty is a lot softer than wax but it is firmer than gel. When taking a small amount of the tub, the product works best if you rub it between your fingers a little bit to soften it up.
It has a pleasant fresh fruity smell to it that my boyfriend despises. He will not use it as it smells too feminine, unlike a lot of other hair products that are unisex.
When you take a small amount out of the tub, it is best to work it slowly between the finger tips and warm it up. This makes it a lot more pliable and easier to work with. You do not need much of the putty to have the hold effect and keep the hair in place. Too much of this can make the hair look heavy and greasy. For a natural look you can spread the putty evenly throughout your hair and create movement with your hands. This is what I tend to do. I tend to run my fingers under my hair and create more body. For a more dynamic style, you can use your fingers to make more defined ends, by pulling at chunks of hair and working them into points.
I like this product because it looks natural and gives the hair a nice sheen but it does not look like your hair is full of wax. It offers great control and when I style my hair with it for a night out. It does not need too much titivating during the evening to keep it looking the same as when I first stepped out of the door.
I like the fact that I can rely on this product and trust that it will keep my hair where I want it. At the end of the evening, the putty will simply comb out and my hair is left feeling soft. It is always a lot of more greasier in the morning though after using this product; however I can live with this.
This is a great hair product that keeps the hair where you want it for as long as you want it to. I will definitely consider buying this one again. I like the smell and even when I am wearing it, I can still smell the fruity aroma which is really pleasant.
This is actually a rather unusual review for me as I as, a rule, don't use hair putty's or wax or anything like that on my hair. My hair is long so I have no need for it.......up until now! My flatmate bought this for her new, spiky do she's had done at the hairdressers and as I now have a few layers and a bit of a fringe I helped myself to it! Well if its in the bathroom...its fair game I always think lol.
75ml white plastic pot and it has a light green twist on/off lid to the top of it. On a label on there I am told that it is L'Oreal Paris 'New' Studio Mineral Control Mess It Up Putty 'With Minerals' and that it provides up to 24hr extra strong hold. Around the pot itself again we are told that information that already adorns the lid and that out of 5 it has a hold of 4, ingredients are listed, size is stated and contact details for L'Oreal are given. Its a nice simple looking unisex pot this one and its easy to open etc. No instructions are given on the pot but as I would with any product of this type I always run it through my hair dry to style and define it.
Well this in the pot is white and looks like a hardish paste. It is soft though and you can scoop it out with total ease. It has a none distinctive but perfectly pleasant soft fruity and very clean and fresh aroma to it. I always think when I'm using it that it smells of natural apples but like I say no matter what it smells of its very nice and light.
To use it, like I say I use it on dry hair and to using it is simple. Less is most certainly more with this product. I use only very small amounts and either I rub it through my hands before applying it to my hair or I can apply it directly to where I want it to go with my fingertips.
It is slightly smooth and greasy in feel as I'm using it but it sinks into my hair fast and evenly distributes. I use this to define my hair, my flatmate uses this to create spikes and general definition and really, its suitable for most styles and is very versatile indeed. For me it defines my layers and gives my do a choppy look and no need for hairspray afterwards. My flatmate creates spikes which stay in her hair till she decides to brush them out.
The smell stays on the hair a good few hours, along with your style, however like I said earlier you really don't want to be using very much of this at all as its easy to apply to much and get greasy locks. Its great at taming frizzies down too and smoothing over the hair to give it a nice, natural looking sheen.
I like this product, really used in moderation. It controls hair without making it feel or look gunky and/or heavy and it really does deliver its promises and for near on £5.00 a pot it should! However it will last ages to be fair to it.
Available in all good supermarkets and chemists etc.
