“ Brand: L'Oréal / Type: Hair Shampoo „
My kids absolutely adore this shampoo and actually ask to have a bath just so they can use this shampoo and I have to say the smell is absolutely amazing and I wouldn't mind shampooing my hair with this either.
I think its a good idea to get a shampoo that is specially made for kids as its designed specifically for their special needs such as having a no tears formula. This one not only has a no tears formula it also has a no knots formula too which was one of the reasons why I bought it as my kids' hair is getting longer now and a bit tangly at times. What I also like about this shampoo is that its very quick to rinse out of their hair too, I find with some shampoos it takes forever to get the suds out but with this it just takes a few rinses with a cup of water and its gone. My daughter likes it because she hates having her hair rinsed so anything that shortens the agony is good for me and her.
This shampoo from L'Oreal comes in a cute shaped bottle which has a face on it so already it is a fun product for kids to use. Then the smell I told you about above is an amazingly fruity strawberry smell that is just so juicy and so fresh and hits you as soon as you open the bottle. Then, when I use it on my kids hair their hair smells absolutely beautiful and you can smell it for quite a while afterwards on their hair too which is lovely.
L'Oreal describe this shampoo as an Extra gentle 2 in 1 very berry strawberry shampoo for extra softness. I have to say that my kids hair is lovely and soft after we have washed and dried it. It looks lovely and fresh and clean after we have washed it too and no tangles! The shampoo lathers up really well I find so you only need a small little squirt. The bottle is small enough that my little girl can hold it herself and put it on her hair herself which she loves doing.
A lovely kids shampoo
Having one water-phobic child and another with the most curly hair in the world has always made hair washing night in our house "interesting" to say the least. It really is a case of getting it over with as quickly as possible and that's the reason why I tend to use the l'oreal Very Berry shampoo. It's a 2-in-1, so there's no need to wash and condition my kids hair separately, which is a definite plus.
The shampoo comes in a kid friendly bottle, the flip top and squeezy sides make it easy to dispense - eldest child (the one with water issues) can manage this herself and we find she only needs a small amount to produce quite a lot of lather. I tend to massage the shampoo through the youngest child's hair myself, it's a little bit gloopy and a strange white colour that is surprising given the smell of the shampoo itself and the very pink bottle. When this is described as "very" they are not joking - it smells like an explosion in a milkshake factory, it can only be described as extreme strawberry, to an adult nose it's a bit overpowering and cloying, but the kids seem to like it. The shampoo is billed as "tear free" and I can confirm that any crying (including mine on a bad day) that does go on during hair washing has nothing to do with the shampoo, though the claim on the bottle "makes hair washing a real treat!" is a bridge too far in this household at least.
The shampoo does seem to wash the kids' hair well, I do leave it in for at least the recommended 2 minutes by the time I've made their hair into mohicans and spikes in a failed endeavour usually to make the event fun. Certainly I don't find that my youngest's aforementionned curly hair is any more tangled than it would be having used two products and their hair is left looking healthy and shiny and not smelling too strongly of strawberry. For now I wash their hair in the bath and rinse with clean water - I find this comes out of their hair fairly easily as long as we use just a small amount. My only issue with this shampoo is that is has sodium laureth sulfate and parabens in its ingredients - I'm not a chemist but I have read some slightly worrying things about these ingredients and used to use an organic product which was paraben and SLS free when they were younger. I can't deny though that at £1.99 for 250ml it's very good value for money and a little goes a long way so given the fact that hair washing at their age is a weekly (hideous) event I'm happy enough to use this product to get the job done for now and will wean them onto more natural smelling products (and having hair washed in the shower in the case of child with water fear) over time.
Overall I think this range of shampoos and this one in particular are pretty good for kids. The bottle is just the right size for small hands and the look of it appeals to them too. I prefer this shampoo to the Tesco 2 in 1 alternative, it lathers well, is easy to use and shortens the time that I have to spend trying to pretend that my kids enjoy having their hair washed - and on that basis I recommend it.
Recently when I went to my local Asda I made the mistake of taking my four year old increasing my shopping bill two fold! One of the things she picked up was displayed on the end of the aisle (at least she looks for offers) and was this shampoo which she really only picked as in her words "it's pink so it's my favourite. Normally I try not to give in to her but as it was £1 a bottle instead of £2 a bottle I bought 3 different ones to try.
There are numerous different items in this range, you can get shampoos, conditioners, 2 in 1s and a tangle tamer. All the items can be found in supermarkets and chemists aswell as occasionally in discount stores, all of the range sell for around the £2 mark although much better value if you can find it on an offer like I did.
The product comes in a mid-pink bottle with a red flip top cap, the bottle is curved slightly from top to bottom on one side and then curved more abruptly on the other side making the bottle a pretty interesting shape. On the front of the bottle there is a green circle which looks like an eye which I find rather strange as there is only one so I presume it isn't meant to look like an eye, underneath this you have the brand name and product name and then the claims of no knots, no tears and for extra softness.
On the rear of the bottle you find that this product has been created under ophthalmologist control, an ophthalmologist works with the eyes so I am guessing that this is to make sure the product doesn't sting the childs eyes. Also on the rear are the instructions for use which are pretty obvious really, wet hair lather and rinse, you also have the ingredients and contact information for the company. Lastly there are a few warnings such as not to swallow, keep away from eyes and keep out of reach of children.
On opening the bottle you can smell the scent straight away, the smell is very fruity and certainly smells strongly of strawberries but personally I find the smell a little sickly in this concentrated form. The shampoo inside is a very pale pearly pink colour and is not too thick but also not to thin, my daughter has very long hair which is pretty thick too and I find I need about a 50 pence piece worth of shampoo to clean her hair. The shampoo lathers really well and the smell is much nicer as it is not so concentrated once in use, the shampoo is easy to rinse out which is what I need with her hair being so long it can take ages to rinse some shampoos out.
My daughters hair is left feeling very soft after using this and the smell remains in her hair for a good day or so which I love, her hair is also left pretty much tangle free which is great and as a 2 in 1 it is actually as good as using separate shampoo and conditioner which you don't find very often. Unfortunately as my daughter's hair is so long "tatties creep in during the night" and this shampoo doesn't prevent this happening but the tangle tamer soon sorts that problem. Really good product and one I would recommend.
It was my daughter who brought this shampoo to my attention, probably because she's a big fan of all things pink and girly and the bottle for this Very Berry Kids Shampoo is as pink as they get. I bought 2 of these bottles for £2.50 from the supermarket (Morrisons or Tescos, I can't remember which), although they are widely available in most supermarkets and places like Boots and Superdrug.
The bottle is designed to appeal to kids having a fish like appearance, with an illustrated eye and fins adding to this notion. The bottle has a flip top lid which is easy to open and to use just squeeze a little of the shampoo out onto your hand.
The shampoo itself is a thick, pink and slightly shimmery liquid which, like the Very Berry name suggests, smells really strongly of strawberry. Personally I thought the smell was a little chemically smelling and too artificial, but my daughter liked it.
I found that it took ages to massage this shampoo onto my daughter's hair and actually get a good lather going. The consistency of the shampoo wasn't like other shampoos we've used before and it was a bit sludgy and hard to work with. It took me a good 5 minutes of faffing about and massaging the hair and shampoo to actually get a lather going, which I thought was far too long.
Once lathered up, the shampoo produced a fairly rich lather that smelt very heavily of strawberry and was a bit overpowering. The shampoo was easy to rinse off after use and didn't seem to leave any residue behind. At one point my daughter got this in her eyes when rinsing but thankfully the no more tears claim holds true and it didn't sting her eyes.
There is meant to be conditioner including in this shampoo but I didn't find that Very Berry offered any conditioning properties for my daughters hair and after rinsing it off I felt the need to add some seperate conditioner as I could still feel tangles in her hair after using the supposedly combined shampoo and conditioner.
After drying my daughter's hair, it felt soft and was shiny, but I don't know how much of this was down to the shampoo and what was due to my normal conditioner which I had to use afterwards. As a novelty with a strong strawberry smell that my daughter liked, this isn't a bad shampoo at all, but I don't think I'd bother to buy more bottles after we've used the one's we're currently on with. I'd rather buy a less novelty shampoo and conditioner in one that actually works when it comes to conditioning.
My daughter has very curly hair and it always gets tangled in the mornings. I decided to give this shampoo a go as I was imnpressed with the results of the L'Oreal conditioner.
It comes in a pink bottle ( which pleased my little girl!) and is attractive looking. It is 250 ml and describes the contents as "Very Berry Strawberry Shampoo." It says that it is extra gentle with no knots and no tears.
It is a 2 in 1 so contains a conditioner to keep hair soft and smooth. Since using it we have had fewer knots in the mornings and her hair is easier to comb through after swimming whereas normally it is a nightmare!
The shampoo has a great fragrance, very fruity and the strawberry smell is very strong, it also lingers on the hair once hair has been dried and I kept getting wafts of strawberry from her throughout the day.
The shampoo is a pearly white colour and is lovely and thick. It does lather up very quickly and you only need to put a small bit on the hair . I did find that the shampoo took a while to get fully washed out but it may have been because I was using too much.
Although the shampoo is designed for kids the bottle itself is not very easy to handle. There are no grips on it so when you have wet hands it is very easy to drop the bottle. It would have been good to have had a pump action so then the child could handle it easily.
The shampoo is aimed at giving hair extra softness and I found that to be the case, her hair is very shiny and soft, much easier to handle when putting it up for school, I would definately buy it again, it's a shame the don't do it in a childs body wash as I would buy that as well!
I bought this shampoo because it was on offer in Morrisons, 2 bottle for £2.50, which seemed like a bargain to me. I know it's supposed to be a kids shampoo, but I bought them to use myself and see if they were any good.
The shampoo comes in a bright pink bottle which you can see pictured above, with a red lid. The lid has a flip top which is easy to open and it also fastens tightly enough so that you could take it away with you without worrying about spills and leaks.
The shampoo is a lovely girly pink colour which actually looks quite pearlescent, and it smells really strongly of strawberry. To me it's a lovely smell but some people may find it overpowering.
The first thing I noticed when I used this shampoo is the strange texture it seems to have when you put it on your hair. It's kind of squidgey and rather than smoothing easily over the hair as you massage it in, it feels like it's clinging to the hair where you first put it and not wanting to move, so it does take a while to massage it through. I think this texture must be due to the fact that it's a 2 in 1, also containing conditioner in the formula.
Once you lather it up it feels really nice, the bubbles are soft and creamy, and it feels quite refreshing to the scalp. It's also very nice to have that lovely strawberry smell wafting through the bathroom as you use it.
I have got this in my eyes on many occasions, and I can safely say that the no tears claim is correct, it doesn't sting at all and in fact I barely notice it's even gone in my eye.
It rinses out fairly easily and my hair is left completely tangle free and is a doddle to comb through. Once dry my hair feels amazingly soft, I think it's the softest I've ever felt it to be honest, so I think the conditioning in the shampoo really does work. There's no need to use a separate conditioner or spray with this, just wash and go.
After the first few uses I really was impressed with the results, my hair looked and felt soft, smooth and really shiny and it stayed looking that way all day. It was only after using it for about 5 days in a row that I started to notice that my hair, particularly at the roots, was looking quite dull and lacklustre, and feeling quite heavy and weighed down. I think again this must be due to the conditioner, as I would not normally use a conditioner on the roots of my hair, just the lengths. So, I've now gone to using this for 3 days, then swapping to a deep-cleansing shampoo for a couple of days in between. This stops my hair from getting too weighed down, and leaves it looking it's best.
Since using this and being pleased with it, I've also had my niece using it, and she absolutely loves it! She uses it every day, and unlike me she doesn't get that weighed down feeling after a few days, I think because her hair has not yet got to the stage where it can get greasy easily. So it's great for kids and adults alike!
I do think this is a fantastic shampoo at a great price, and I'll definitely keep on buying it when I see it on offer!
My son is 7 and has loved this shampoo for 3 years since we moved from johnsons baby shampoo to something more 'grown up'. His hair is quite long and often gets tangled when he's playing, sleeping or twiddling. Very Berry gets all those tangles out no problem and leaves his hair smelling fabulously fruity.
Very Berry Strawberry is our favourite but this shampoo also comes in cheeky cherry which comes a very close second. This shampoo lathers well on the dirtiest 'I've been playing-out' hair and conditions leaving the hair soft, clean and maneagable. We don't have tears and the easy to hold bottle encourages my son to shampoo his own hair.
L'oreal Very Berry is great value for money, lasts ages and is available in 250ml easy grip bottles. We haven't tried Mango Tango yet but we will...soon! These super fruity shampoos are the best for making hair washing fun.
L'oreal kids extra gentle very berry strawberry shampoo
I tend to like the L'oreal products and because we are using the conditioner, it made sense to use the matching shampoo to smell very very berry
This one promises to be a 2 in 1 extra gentle shampoo so there are no knots and therefore no tears. However, it doesn't tell me what the 2 in 1 is; I would assume that it is shampoo and conditioner but on the back it suggests that it is good to use alone or with the conditioner (surely I'm not doing double the conditioning). The promise that it will leave hair smooth soft clean extra shiny and manageable is a good one, and one which it will probably deliver.
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING
The shampoo comes in a pink slightly curved 250ml plastic bottle with a red flip up cap. The fact that the bottle is slightly curved actually makes it easier to hold and to apply the conditioner, but it is still slightly too thick for small hands to manage effectively. However, because the bottle is soft, it does tend to make it easier than some bottles for children to hold.
I flip open the lid to have a whiff of the product and yes, there is a definite hint of strawberry; not enough to be overpowering but very fruity. If I hadn't used the conditioner, I would have expected the shampoo to be pink, but like the conditioner, it is white, and is quite thick and creamy, which is good because even if children are using it, it doesn't come running out of the bottle, but requires a little squeeze.
HOW TO USE IT...
The shampoo should be used as all shampoos...wet hair, apply product and rinse off. The shampoo does lather up so there isn't any need to use too much.
*Don't swallow- not as daft as it seems because it does smell like a fruity drink
*Use under adult supervision
*If it gets into eyes, rinse it out immediately
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The RRP is about £1.50 for 250ml, but it is on special offer at Asda at the moment and all the L'Oreal products for children seem to be costing £1 which is a bit of a bargain.
It is widely available in supermarkets and chemists.
There are lots of products in the children's range including:
* Very Berry Strawberry conditioner
* Extra Gentle swim and sport sunny orange shampoo (great for after swimming)
* cheeky cherry shampoo
* tropical mago shampoo
* sweet pear tangle tamer
* soothing lavender shampoo
The fruity theme seems to take precedence in the children's range of products but the theme seems to work!
The website, www.loreal.com has lots of information about the different products.
Like the conditioner, this is popular with Little Miss, mainly because of the smell. The shampoo lathers up easily and is relatively easy to rinse off, given that she likes to do it herself. It smells good and leaves hair clean smelling and not overly fruity- just a faint whiff of those berries. As with other products by L'Oreal i am pleased with the product and it seems to deliver what it promises- clean hair which is easy to manage after drying. I think it must have some kind of conditioner in this because even when we use it as a stand alone shampoo and with out the conditioner, it seems to take less effort to detangle.
