La Riche Directions
Advantages: A lot of colours to choose from and give brilliant results
Disadvantages: A bit expensive in most places and offer a little less than competing brands
My personal favourite for bright and vivid alternative hair colours is renbow's crazy colour however la riche's directions are the next best bet for me as they are just as good quality and last the same length of time.
Directions generally have more colours to offer and have a number of different shades and tones for each. For instance, there are a selection of reds, blues and purples and pinks to cater for anyone's ideal shade.
The great thing about these sorts of dyes is that, if desired, you may mix colours together in order to get a unique shade that isn't necessarily already available.
The dyes come in small tubs that measure at 88ml each and have a total of 34 colours available. The amount is a little less than my favourite dye as they are the same quality however renbow offer 100ml per bottle, and in my personal experience I have found that directions are more widely available in alternative clothing and piercing stores and are more popular because of the amount of colours they have.
I have only used directions twice before hand so I'm not a huge fan of them simply because there is size difference and I am a creature of habit when I finally find a great deal and know when and where to save money. However I have come to find that directions is a great brand of dye and much like the renbow colours I reviewed previously, directions are gel dyes that contain absolutely no ammonia or peroxide and does not need to be mixed with anything in order for it to work. It also does not damage your hair in any way as it is a gentle gel like formula that simply deposits colour onto the hair follicle. For optimum results it is recommended that your hair is relatively healthy and a light shade to achieve a intense bright colour.
However if you're looking for just a tint in your hair and you have dark hair, this also works however do not expect a massive change as you have to have either pre lightened hair or naturally light coloured hair, preferably from dark ash blonde to platinum blonde for best results - particularly for blues, reds and pinks to show up clearly in your hair.
Bare in mind that these dyes are not semi permanent to the point of most shelf dyes you find in supermarket stores, they are not designed to last that long and are only temporary. They will last much longer depending on the health of your hair, if your hair has been over processed the likelihood of the dye lasting will not be great.
Summary: A good range of hair colours that doesn't damage your hair!
