I recently had my hair cut in a style that requires a lot more styling, including having a fringe cut in and it looks much better when it is kept looking sharp. As I have fairly thick and unruly hair I decided it was time to try and find some products that would help me keep my hair under some kind of control to allow me to make the most of my new hairstyle.
I prefer mostly to pay the little extra for salon products rather than high street brands and find TK Maxx is a great place to find bargains on these kinds of products, although it can be a bit of a gamble as they usually aren't anything I've tried before. I wanted a products that would make my hair shiny while controlling any frizz and this seemed as if it would do the job. It cost £4.99 which I think is a great price.
The product comes in a stick which you push up from the bottom - you put it on your hands, rub them together and apply to your hair. It wasn't too sticky or messy to apply and went on my hair evenly without leaving any lumps or globules. You can also apply the stick directly onto your hair then smooth out with your hands although I find if my hair is particularly fly-away to start with this can be a bit messy - I only like to use it this way when my hair is freshly washed and straightened.
I was very pleased with the results in taming the loose strands of hair and keeping my frizz to a minimum but I didn't find that it added a great deal of shine, particularly in comparison to some hair serums that I have used in the past. When I smelt the product before putting it on I didn't particularly like how it smelt but it was not noticeable at all when actually on my hair. The product doesn't feel heavy after it's put on but I do find that my hair does need washing more frequently when I use products such as this, but in my opinion that's par for the course and I've yet to find one that doesn't have this effect.
I think this is a really great and reasonably priced product for controlling my frizz although if I was looking just to add shine I think there are better products for it out there.
I purchased this Label.M hair polish after the hairdresser in Toni & Guy used it on my hair. Like always, she told me why she was using it and what it does. She said it will smooth split ends, which I really needed as I straighten my hair a lot and so as a result, end up with a lot of split ends. She also said it will smooth static hair, which can also be caused by using hair straighteners.
Its main purpose is to add shine as it states on the bottle it is a 'solid serum for high gloss'. I find it does do this a little, but not as much as you would expect it to for its high price tag.
I paid £9.75 for a 50ml bottle in a Toni & Guy hair salon, although it is possible to buy this cheaper elsewhere and is available to buy online via Amazon.
I use a shine spray on finishing my hair style to create added shine/gloss. I use the hair polish more for the reason that it does actually smooth my split ends and calms any static down.
Ever since I started using this I have noticed a difference, which makes it a worthwhile purchase for me.
It also states on the bottle that the serum protects hair against heat styling and UV rays, which is always a good bonus to have in a hair product if you tend to use heat stylers a lot.
To apply, it states on the bottle you should apply the stick straight on to dry hair to smooth frizz, or alternatively, apply to palms and rub together.
My hairdresser told me a good tip, before using the hair polish blast the hairdryer over it to warm it up before applying to your hair. It will then work better, so this is exactly what I do.
I have had this 50ml bottle of hair polish for around a year and a half now, and still have what looks like over half of the bottle left. I don't use it everyday, but I do use it a few times a week.
Therefore, £9.75 does seem worth it considering how long it is lasting me. But as I said earlier, you can purchase it for cheaper online on other websites that stock the Label.M products, which would make it even better value for money.
I can see a difference to my hair when using this product and when it does eventually run out, I am sure I will invest in another bottle.
